It took us a while to get here, as we originally booked for May 2020, then 2021 and third time lucky we made it. The Buda side of the river suited us fine. This was a historic building to stay in and the church remains alongside. The hotel is well appointed and everything worked. The rooms are a good size and comfortable. The location is good with the steps up to Fisherman's Bastion just outside the rear garden exit. The hotel is one block from the River (and thus close to the trams). Indeed there is a station for the hotel situated between the metro and the chain bridge. The chain bridge is currently closed, so it is not so easy to walk across to the Pest side, but the purchase of a day tram ticket (1630 HUF)- which is exceptional value - solves this. I found the hotel staff very keen to help and this also included the email conversations necessary, each time we had to delay our visit. The hotel arranged minibus transfers to/from the airport and this worked well (40 mins) and was not too expensive. Breakfast for me was a treat each day - it is the most important start of the day for me when traveling, but I need to avoid bread/croissants. I was not disappointed with the choices (cereals, fruit juices, fruit, cooked breakfast items, ham and cheese and toast/bread rolls). Regarding restaurants, there are many in the area of all cuisines and budgets. Thank you Monastery for everything.…
We celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary at the hotel, and thanks to the extremely friendly and thoughtful staff and the unique atmosphere of the hotel, our stay was unforgettable!:) We got an extravagant suite overlooking the Danube -even champagne with a nice card- so everything was perfect! We've stayed in many hotels before, but none of them had this really guest-friendly attitude! We are hoping to return here someday and we recommend the place for everyone who would like to have an unforgettable stay in a building full of history!:)
Very pleased with this hotel. It was clean and comfortable. The reception staff were fantastic. We’d forgotten a phone charger and asked where the nearest shop was to buy one. The receptionist let us borrow a spare from reception which was very much appreciated. The breakfast was good with a wide selection of baked goods and a good choice of milk for various dietary requirements. In terms of nightlife the location was rather quiet however that’s not the hotel’s fault and I suspect many places are still closed due to the pandemic. That said it was ideally located for the old town area and visiting the castle. I would highly recommend for a sightseeing break.
We stayed here for 5 nights. We had a double room and it was quite spacious, very clean and well laid out. The staff were friendly and responded well to questions. The breakfast was buffet and although it catered for the international market, the choices were quite small. We had one evening meal there and a small menu but then food was good.
My wife and I recently stayed at your hotel. I am writing to let you know how wonderful Ildiko at the front deck is. From the moment we checked in she was so cheerful and very very helpful in helping to plan out our days while we were there. On our last day we received covid test results for our flight home and my wife's came with her name spelled wrong and her passport number wrong, she was panicked. Ildiko immediately got on the phone and started making calls and somehow on a Saturday found someone that would correct this for us. We were resigned to thinking we would just have to try to explain at the airport and hope for the best but even after we had left the hotel Ildiko continued to work on this until she got a correct results page emailed to us lifting a great weight off my wife’s shoulders. I have travelled ex.tensively and stayed in a number of hotels never have I had anyone jump in to solve a problem on my behalf like Ildiko did. You have a star employee in her. Please give Ildiko our best and once again thank her on our behalf. Terry and Donna Johnson …
I was positively impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff. Good breakfast. Although in 2019 a tripadvisor customer complains about the absolutely terrible taste of the orange juice at breakfast, the orange juice is still served. The hotel does not have a fantastic view, yet it is beautiful and located on a quiet street with a few restaurants nearby. The location of the hotel is good, but affected by the closure of the Chain Bridge. Together with the room, I booked the parking and immediately received a confirmation of the parking reservation from the hotel. I was also informed about the parking price and I agreed. Once there, I was informed the hotel parking is full and that there is no availability for my car. The receptionist proposed to leave the car (for free) in front of the hotel, but the parking was full during all our stay, or to park the car (for a fee) in the underground parking of a different hotel, which is not far, but it was very inconvenient not to have full access to the own car. The underground parking belongs to a hotel which is not open and we had to wait a long time in front of that hotel for a person to answer, let us in and open the garage. We booked the room and parking at the Monastery Hotel more than 2 weeks in advance, if we were informed about the option to park at a different hotel, I would have canceled both hotel and parking reservations. Being informed only when I got there, I felt cheated. The underground parking itself is perfect, we knew it because we were regular customers of the hotel which is now closed but it's very inconvenient to leave the car there once you stay in a different hotel.…
One ofe the best choices in Budapest. Cozy hotel, perfect location, friendly staff and a very good restaurant. Prices are decent as well as what they offer. From my last trips is one of the best hotels we stayed. Highly recommended for any tourist.
I am completely satisfied with the hospitality I received. The rooms were cosy, comfortable and clean. The location of the hotel couldn’t be more appealing, so I totally enjoyed staying there. I recommend booking for those, who are in love with boutique hotels!
Great choice for anybody who is looking for convenient, comfortable place and is tired and bored by chain hotels you can hardly diffrenciate ... Monastery hotel has very special spirit and taste, super attentive staff, exclusive restanrant .... I’ll be frequent guest there from now on ....
This new 4star hotel is located in the centre of Budapest, close to the Danube. The rooms are clean and chic. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was nice- located in a lovely conservatory. Parking outside easy and was free during weekends.
