Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favorite
We stayed in the Mystery Hotel for four nights and enjoyed every minute of it. All the staff were extremely friendly and attentive and couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome. The location of the hotel is slightly out of the city centre and away from the noise and crowds. But to my mind this is a real advantage. If you are prepared to walk for twenty minutes or so, which we did mainly to justify the food that the city has to offer, this is fine. Though the public transport system is so good that there is really no need to walk if you don't want to. Then there is the hotel building itself. This is a beautiful period building with every amenity you could want. It is spotlessly clean and the interior design takes your breath away. Eating the beautifully presented breakfast in the Great Hall is an experience in itself. We would recommend this hotel to anyone as a base to explore beautiful Budapest and have a pampered relaxing time between explorations.

Dear Dennis, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful experience at Mystery Hotel. We are thrilled to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed your four-night stay with us and that our staff went above and beyond to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Our location, a bit away from the city center, indeed offers a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the crowds. Our historic building has a special charm, and we are delighted that you enjoyed its beauty and the amenities it provides. Breakfast in our Great Hall is indeed an experience to savor, and we are pleased that you found it as enjoyable as we intend it to be. It was our pleasure to have you as our guest, and we hope to welcome you back to Mystery Hotel in future . Best regards, Anikó Horváth, General Manager

This delightful establishment, worth a taxi ride from the airport or a short walk from the rail station is beautiful. It is ornate, some might say quirky others delight in its opulence.
As with many such establishments, the strength is in the well led, well trained team for whom nothing is too much trouble.
Our room was spotless (key in these awkward times) and we (being english) took advantage of the offer of a kettle with which to boil the water for tea. The shower was the type that could if needed, take the skin off the back or for the gentler souls, a refreshing couple of minutes downtime.
Breakfast taken in the Great Hall Dining Room and what you wanted was there, continental, cooked, healthy, breads to die for, fresh orange juice and again, a team who were clearly enthusiastic and pleasant. They were extremely busy but they were professionally calm and always smiled, well done to them.
We chose to eat in the restaurant and were not disappointed; my wife enjoying the nicest salmon she had tasted and I matched that with the beef. Both dishes were delicious and nothing left on any of the 3 course plates.
The Reception Team, front of office were lovely, couldnt do enough to assist or to help, we are very grateful to them.
Nightlife, centre and all things noisy are a 10-20 minute walk down safe roads, rough guide is about 10 minutes slow walk to get to the Parliament (all times ish with us!) and the transport service is excellent.
In summary, clearly a well led and enthusiastic group who love showing off what their lovely hotel can do; the team a the greatest asset to it and they respond by their professional service.
See you next time we visit, we cant wait!

Mystery Hotel & Spa was the most positively surprising and fabulous experience in the whole of Budapest.
When we found ourselves there, the street the hotel is on looks a bit old a rough but then you step inside and are instantly transported to a world of unique luxury. This hotels cleanliness standards are spotless. The full hotel, corridors, the lifts, the lobby and the rooms are immaculate!!
The staff were a pleasure.
The artistic, unusual flare of art was a delight to be around. The Great hall (the dining room) was the most beautiful area to have breakfast or sit on an evening for a cocktail.
The room was spacious and bright with a bath in the living room it was amazing to have a bubble bath and watch the TV at the same time. To have ceiling to floor windows is something that always has a wow factor. In the separate bathroom where the toilet and sink is located the walk in shower was devine.
The only negative point from the hotel was the heating was so hot and it wasn't possible to turn it down. We did ask and someone came to the room to check but it wasn't possible.
It would have been better if the hotel had compromised this by supplying more then two bottles of water. Every day we had to call for more water becuase it was just so hot!

Dear 97calums, Thank you for sharing your experience of your stay in Mystery Hotel Budapest. We are pleased that you choose our hotel for your Honeymoon. I am also delighted that you mentioned the cleanliness of the hotel, hence we think of this aspect as priority, just like the positive attitude of our colleagues. I apologize for the inconvenience of the increased temperature in your room. As you also described, the upgraded room you stayed at has mostly glass from 3 sides, temperature inside this room could easily increase at faster pace. We will definitely take into consideration your suggestion about our complimentary mineral water service in this aspect. Unfortunately, this year we experienced and unusually hectic climate in Budapest, temperature changed with more than 15 C during the same day, a scale that made our temperature control really challenging. I trust that the inconvenience did not have a long lasting negative effect on your trip and that we will have the privilege of welcoming you back in the near future.

We booked this fantastic hotel for a short family stay. As former hoteliers we have in general great expectations with hotels, and frankly, all of them were exceeded. The hotel is extremely stylish, unique mixture of something very classical and modern. It definitely has a charm, one time it fascinates you, the other time it makes you laugh.
There is a beautiful spa facility in the heart of the building with a wonderful atmosphere.
The rooftop restaurant is also fab, with a stunning view on the highlights of Budapest offering delicious yet not too fancy bar food at very reasonable prices.
Our guestroom was just perfect, ideal for a family of 4. In spite of this fact, we were given a free upgrade so my husband and me could have a separate bedroom from our children.
And this was just one of the so many reasons why we felt so priviliged during our stay: we were welcomed by the Sales Director who was so kind as to show us around, we had two bottles of champagne as room amenities: one for us and one for the kids, we enjoyed special care during our whole stay, we were pampered all the time.
Our daughter celebrated her 7th birthday during our stay and she not only received a special birthday greeting card into our room but was also surprised with a cake by the hotel staff after our breakfast.
All these attention to details left us breathless, and we will definitely return very soon.

Dear Edina293940! What a fabulous review, it filled me with great pride to read it! Thank you very much for your kind words, it gives me great pleasure to know that you and your family had a lovely experience with us. I am delighted to hear that you found our spa and rooftop terrace amazing in terms of the atmosphere, view food, and also regarding the overall ambiance. We at Mystery Hotel Budapest focus on providing an outstanding and unforgettable service for our guests during their stay. It is very important to us that our guests leave the hotel relaxed and recharged, therefore, we try to be as attentive as possible. Once we were informed about your daughter's birthday, we wanted to make that day a little bit more special for her. It always makes us happy when a child gets surprised. It was truly a pleasure to read your amazing review and I am happy to see you as former hoteliers were satisfied with the services. We hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future! Kind regards, Fanni Bognár Reservations

I adored this hotel. I have a lot of respect for the fact that they've really committed to a theme, and even if that means it's a bit ostentatious and tacky in places, I think it's all the more charming for it! It was such a relief to stay somewhere with a bit of personality, no beige, no grey, just a gorgeous building with some mad decor. Spectacular effort!
Moreover it was 5* in all the places that it mattered: the staff could not do enough, they were so lovely and so helpful, they went out of their way to make it a really pleasant stay. The breakfast is first class, I don't know what more you would want from it, one of the best I've had. The spa is small but immaculate. The building is beautiful. The entire hotel is spotlessly clean. And the rooms are really well insulated, I couldn't hear any noise from the street or from other guests, really peaceful and quiet. Ultimately, I felt like this hotel was a terrific bargain, if you're the sort of person who is intolerant to a bit of fun decor, spend a bit more and go somewhere really high end, but I loved it here, a 5* customer experience for half the price.
Thank you.

This hotel was a perfect stop in Budapest to tour the city sites using public transportation and heading back to relax in the Garden if Eden Spa. The sauna was at a great temperature and towels, robe, slippers as well as hygienic sheets for the sauna and for lying on lounge chairs was provided…along with refreshing lemon water.
Front desk was very helpful and kind as well as any other staff I encountered. Room was charming and very comfortable and breakfast was plentiful. I had a great and relaxing time!

All I can say is that this hotel is perfect in almost every way! The personnel is nice and always ready to help you, the entire decoration of the hotel is incredibly beautiful, the jacuzzi is marvelous and the breakfast is tasty! We also has the opportunity to try dinner at the hotel, which was not cheap but was quite good!
The rooms are nice and comfortable. However, I stayed in a room with two double beds, since it was the cheapest option at the time of my booking. These rooms are usually mostly available in hotels of amusement parks, in order to be able to make four people sleep in there. In this case, four people would never be able to sleep there. The beds are not that big, and mostly, the duvets are tiny, and do not cover the entire top surface of the mattress, not to say the rest (please, get bigger duvets if you are reading this!).
The other downside is related to the location. Though it’s not badly located, personally I like to walk by foot a lot in cities I visit. Though I was able to do this, I always had to walk between 35 to 45 minutes by foot to reach the main touristic spots.
Overall, I liked the hotel and the effort all the staff does, so I’m giving it a five star rating. However, in other situations, the duvet problem alone would be enough to lower the rating of my review, since it affected my sleep quality and my partner’s sleep quality, specially in the first night.

We always try to improve ourselves in order to offer the highest level of service to our guests! Thank you for your valuable feedback regarding the duvet, we will try to find a suitable solution! It is great to hear that you were amazed by the interior design! The award-winning designer, Zoltán Varró is to be honoured for the unique theme, which is based on the triad of luxury - magic and experience. In 2019, our hotel was nominated in the 'Best Guestroom Luxury' category and won the 'Best European Luxury Lobby' at the Gold Key Awards; therefore, we couldn’t be more proud to reach your expectations! We are also more than happy that you enjoyed our Secret Garden Day Spa. It is truly a lovely secret island where you can escape for a while from the urban bustle of our capital! Thank you for sharing your kind words about the Great Hall Restaurant & Lounge! Staying in this hotel was the best way to start our tour in Budapest.
The hotel is all new and the staff is absolutely amassing always ready to help.
The breakfast is absolutely luxurious and everything has a touch of class and pomp that is difficult to find in hotels today.
From the moment we enter to the moment we leave, we feel like we are in other dimension from the decoration to the nice way we are treated.
The hotel has a transfer that can pick you up at the train station or the airport that also easy your live a lot. Also the people that drive this cars are very nice.
I would love to come back here, and I recommend to everybody that stays at this hotel, to try everything: the beautiful spa, the restaurant, the breakfast... All!
To finish, the hotel is on the Peste side, so it´s not near most of the attractions, but you can easily get the underground nearby our any bus. The place where the hotel is, has lots of restaurantes and stores so it's not isolated what makes it a very nice place not so near the city center.
I hope I came back here one day!

Dear Beatriz C, We are happy that you had a nice time in Budapest, and that your stay in our hotel also met your expectations. In deed our location, although is not by the Danube, turns out to be really convenient, due to the proximity of many of the landmarks, as the Hero’s square, the State Opera House, or the House of Terror museum. Thank you for mentioning the personal touch of our colleagues and of the driver. We put a lot of emphasis on creating a welcoming and caring environment for all our guests, during their entire stay. We do hope, that we will be able to come back not only one day, but in the near future.

I chose this hotel for the engagement stay with my former girlfriend (now fiancé). I called the reception at night before the day of our visit and the answer of a staff member, David, was the most reassuring response I could have gotten.
From that moment on, everything went smoothly and better than we could have even imagined.
The staff was very forthcoming in my requests of special amenities (champagne, strawberries, ...) for a very affordable price, as well as in arranging them with careful timing.
The hotel is beautiful, we were lucky to stay at the Atelier Studio Suite (again thanks to the lovely staff) which was brautiful, huge, had a bath tub, lots of storage space and an amazingly comfortable bed.
The next day, we checked out but were still free to use the spa, which is small, but has everything one wants (sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, plenty of spots to lie down and relax).
Once again, thanks to all the staff, and especially to David for managing to reassure panicky me and be very supportive.

We've spent 7 days at the Mystery Hotel and it was one of our best trio ever.
The design is quite nice and room are comfortable
We particularly appreciated the staff, always happy to help you and to arrange the things the best as possible.
They are always available with being pervasive, which is what you 'expect from a five-star hotel.
the next I come to Budapest I will not seek for any other option than returning to this hotel.

Dear Fiona C,
We have bathrooms with shower where a curtain can be closed and we also have rooms where the bathroom is in a separate room, closing with a door.
No tax or resort fee was charged however reception will make a charge to your debit /credit card to cover internal purchases that are charged to your room. Ensure that you present your card on departure to have this charge taken off and you will get a receipt. If your purchases are less than the charge taken this will also be sorted out at time of departure.
