This unpretentious gem of a hostel is really like staying over at a friend's place. Everything is so laid back and relaxed with awesome people working there. They would go out of their way to keep their guests happy. I must admit that this type of place is probably not everyone's cup of tea, but I had a great time staying here. The quirkiness of the decor was always a pleasure to look at! Great location (near Oktogon station), always clean, comfortable bed, good WIFI and nice kitchen area. I will definitely stay here again!
A well situated hostel that we stayed at for 9 nights. We were within walking distance of everything that we wanted to see - although there are tram and metro stops outside of the hostel. We booked the 8 bed mixed dorm for 2 people but actually stayed up on a man-made loft type are which had 2 sections with 2 beds - which we easily pushed together to make a double. Felt totally private but with the ability to be social if desired. The hostel is very homely and - as the name indicates - very Home made! Quirky decor. Bedrooms have curtains to pull around the beds for privacy. Lockers available and we had locker space under our bed too, which was fantastic. A good size kitchen with free use of all equipment, crockery and cutlery. 3 bathrooms all with toilets and showers. Hot and powerful showers. Free use of towels and shower supplies. Also a lounge area if you are feeling social. We did washing too - everything provided and done for you. €7 well spent! Even tumble dried! Staff are friendly and helpful and at least 1 on duty 24/7! The hostel is kept very warm - which is lovely when arriving back from the freezing cold outside - but wear light nightwear or you will be too hot. You can request for it to be turned down, but it’s so nice when you get in that it is worth it. Worth noting that this is not a party atmosphere and the vibe is very relaxed. Absolute value for money. Thoroughly enjoyed our 9 nights across New Year. Would stay again and definitely recommend. …
I've been there three weeks ago. I chose it because of an advice of a friend. The entrance was a little bit hidden (they don't have a big sign). I liked it for the very first moment. They have a very lovely furniture. The entrance room looks like a living room. The hostel is not very big but I think this is the big advantage of this hostel, because the atmosphere is very chilled and if you need something from the staff, they are able to take the time. I never saw one of these girls and guys showing any sign of impolitness even if one seemed to be stressed. We spend a lot of time having nice and funny conversiations with some of the receptionists. The first time I slept in the eight person room, so I mentioned they have a clever design: So the atmosphere very homy but there are discreet separators e.g. a shelf or an old decorative TV (not sure if it was an TV) between the beds, giving you a little bit more privacy. The kitchen was the second common room. You can always use the coffeemachine and the powder, or the tea. They have 3 bathrooms, each with a shower, so I never had the problem with an occupied room. Altogether it was the perfect hostel for me. It was the best hostel i've ever been. If I will come to Budapest once again I probably would not be happy with another hostel anymore. PS: If you meet Alexa (she is the best receptionist ever :-) say "Eyyyyy, Alter!!!" and i'm sure you will have a very funny time :-)…
Very cosy hostel. Nice atmosphere, the guy that worked there both nights when I was there was a bit rude. He did not say hello, and in the evening he watched a movie a little too loud. Beetween 1 and 2 did he welcome 4 guest inyo the room. Was talking loudly and turned the night on. After he left the room without turning of the light and the guests still was talking loudly. Still the women that wotked there sept. 30 was very nice. She had a lot of advise to me and said hello and how are you all the time I came in. And it was no bunk bed and some beds had curtains. The room was over 2 floor so it did not feel like a 8 bed doorm but 4. If you choose this hostel keep in mind that the floor is very noisy and people that has another room has to go trough the room I was sleeping at.…
The common room is nice and homy but that's the only positive thing. There is no moment when it's quiet in this hostel. People walk in and out all night, the doorbell rings often and people talk out loud no matter if there are people trying to sleep/are sleeping. The hostel is extremely noisy, meaning that if someone moves or walks one step the whole building creeks, so then you wake up again. Furthermore there were bed fleas everywhere which was terrible :( i spent only 2 of the 3 nights in this hostel, then i decided i wanted to sleep and went somewhere else. When I left they did not seem to care at all. I am usually definitely not a person who complains, but this was really bad. It's cheap so you don't expect much but for only 2 or 3 euro more you have a waaaaaay better hostel.…
