Beds are short and so are the bed sheets. Even if you're not taller than 182 it's uncomfortably short. For the price you pay it's okay, pool was nice and mostly empty so that was a large plus for this place.
Where do I begin? I'm a CEU alumn that unexpectedly had to stay 2 nights in Budapest and immediately looked up the CEU Conference Center. Students, faculty, and alumni receive generous discounts (up to 50%) so this was a no brainer. I called twice on a Thursday around 4 PM to make a reservation, but nobody at the reception answered. Since I was in a hurry, I made the reservation for the apartment via Booking.com to prevent arriving at the hotel and finding out there are no rooms available. Upon arrival, I inquired about the discount but was told by the receptionist that reservations made online are ineligible for the discount. The receptionist said that I had to make the reservation by calling, even though I repeatedly said that nobody answered my calls earlier that day. He said I can talk to a manager the next day. The following day, I spoke with another receptionist that basically gave the same story, however she called the manager to confirm this. I followed up with an email to the Residence Manager politely explaining my situation, notifying her that I previously called without success and since I was in a hurry made the booking online. Do you want to know what her response was? She said that sometimes the reception is unattended during lunch and dinner times i.e. "sorry nobody picked up the phone - sucks for you". She also claimed my apartment was "ineligible" for the discount as it's "refurbished". First of all, none of these requirements and limitations were listed anywhere at the hotel or website. The "policy" of no discounts is also pure rubbish as hotels can easily issue refunds regardless of where the booking was made. Her justifications were preposterous and her emails arrogant. To make matters worse - the same day after finally getting in touch with the manager - she leaves for vacation for two weeks as notified in the automatic email reply. I would never recommend this place after receiving such poor customer service. The manager needs to be reprimanded immediately. If this place is not welcoming to CEU alumni, I can only imagine the experience for anyone else.…
We were a group of 8 friends, so we got ourselves 4 twin rooms, without breakfast. Our check-in was great. There a a really nice guy at the reception, very welcoming, I even gave him a souvenir from Brazil. The rooms are confortable and clean. All very new and a very small TV (which we never used). Breakfast was 8 euros, but didn't look too appealing, so we skipped it. The next morning we used the pool. It has about 15 meters long. The only detail is that you must bring your head cap, otherwise you can't use it. Location was good half way from the city to the airport, more or less.
For the price you are paying is ok. You can not expect more. Rooms are clean and warm. Wifi working ok. I did not like the smell in the whole place. It was ok for 1 night, but I will not come again. It is ok for a transit night but not for holidays
An OK hotel for a few days. The receptionist was really nice. The air conditioning is not good, combined with. the fact that the room was on the eastern side led to a not so pleasant experience. The ATM machine seemed a little suspicious because the card entry was shaking and I thought there was a skimming device, but so far so good.
When I made check in, in reception desk was ugly, unnice men in sweatsuit. He was totally impolite, unhelpful. There wasn't WI-FI in the hotel!! How is it possible in 21.cetury in conference hotel?!?!?! Room was small. I reserved room with one big bed...I had two veeeeery small beds. Bathroom was clean but shower was very very very small and broken-water comes out to bathroom floor... Location was bad, far far away from city center, even from vicinity of center. Never come back. Do not reccomend to anybody!
Rooms are very clean and big enough. Here is conference hotel of university so you can find restaurant and canteen in ground level. We stayed at 10th floor. There is 2 lifts for rooms. Wheel chair can reach to hotel easily. There is tram and bus acces to hotel but hotel is not in city center. We drive our car for 4-5km. You can park your car inside garden with small amount of payment like 3Euro.
Bad sides: the Center is located very far from city center. Since the Center if mainly for students, so it might get noisy at times if, for example, there is some event taking place at the Center. Good: prices are rather cheap, rooms are clean, free wi-fi, good canteen, nice clean sports center with sauna and big swimming pool. Very friendly stuff.
The reception was fast and very accommodating. My room was great. After checking in i did a tour of the hotel. It has a nice bar. The swimming pool and sauna are wonderful. You have kitchens on the 'A' wing rooms were you can cook. By public transport to the city center takes 30 to 40 minutes by bus. You can order airport minibus, taxi or sightseeing programs at the reception desk.
If you going to Budapest to study at CEU, then select their accommodation, you will increase your network very much. The place is clean and tidy, breakfast is nice. There is also snack bar, gym, pool and a very beautiful garden. Rooms are clean as well and comfortable enough. There are two refrigerators on each level.
