Nice design but that’s it really
The design is nice but everything else is just OK. You have to pay for the coffee in the room (only first one is free) which is unheard of. Nothing is at the minibar (no wine or spirits only water and coke) The cleaning is OK but they don’t fill up the empty shampoo bottles or tissues automatically. Rooms as very small. Common areas are very small and crowded, the stairs are super high and dangerous to climb (mainly in heels). The waiters are professional. The location is good as it’s at the middle of the castle Room service is extra 10 euros which is shocking given the fact the restaurant is downstairs so you really only pay that someone brings the food up to your room. Breakfast is every day the same: 2 croissants with jam. Very basic and gets boring after 2 days.

    Beautiful
Supurb. Beautiful and unique, well located. Friendly, professional, helpful staff. The bistro is connected to the hotel and offers a lovely start to any day of sightseeing. Well located for accessing the surrounding hilltop, as well as the recommended cafes and shops in the neighbourhoods below the castle.

Fine boutique hotel with a special flair
I travel often to Budapest and always look for an accomodation that is out of the ordinary: the Pest-Buda perfectly fits in this category. The location is fantastic, near the Castle, and the building itself is extremely well renovated. The beds are amongst the best I‘ve ever slept in -that‘s something coming from an extensive traveller! The service was flawless: the manager went out of his way to help me even though it was Christmas. I warmly recommend this hotel to everybody looking for something special: I stayed in the Attic Suite and I‘ll surely come back! One thing that could be improved: the vathing towels could be a bit bigger and the vathroves were size „M“, so too small for me. The hotel might want to consider asking the guests which size they need: so much a better feeling to get out of the bathtub and slip on a comfortable bathrobe!

Pros: Friendly staff. Comfy beds with multiple options for pillows. Good location. Clean, spacious rooms. Power sockets are not easily accessible for toddlers (at least for our 20 month old daughter). Cons: Since it is a historical building, it has wooden floors that creak a bit. It was not a problem for us, but if you, your partner, or your children are light sleepers, you might want to use slippers to reduce creaking.

The location is absolutely wonderful--- on Castle Hill on a quiet street but a short walk from Fisherman's Bastion and the Castle. The staff is cordial and helpful and the attached bistro has great food and a lovely atmosphere. We stayed in the Atelier Suite and could not have been more pleased. It is cozy in its decor, and spacious. The private terrace is lovely. The room and hotel have charm yet are very tasteful and lovely. I would highly recommend staying here for convenience, comfort and a beautiful experience.

Dear 64anniep, Thank you for staying at our Family owned boutique hotel located in the historic downtown of Budapest - the World Heritage Buda Castle district, in a relaxed area surrounded by protected landmark buildings, famous monuments and museums. You are encouraged to enjoy the charming yet peaceful streets and breathtaking panoramic views of the city, which is full of travellers visiting the Matthias Church and other sights during the day. The neighborhood of our small luxury hotel is also a key Gastronomic Quarter of Budapest busy in the evenings, with unique and celebrated restaurants and it takes only 10 minutes by car to visit Pest side of the city. We hope to welcome you back soon! Kind regards, Pest Buda Team

My husband & I, plus sister and brother -in law, stayed at this Hotel for 4 nights, as a part of a 70th birthday holiday treat for my husband. The rooms are stylish & well designed and the hotel is in an excellent location in the old part of Buda close to the tourist sites. However, it is expensive and it was disappointing only to be offered a continental breakfast when our 3rd floor Atelier room cost approx. 400 Euros a night (be aware that there is no lift). Eggs or fruit for breakfast are an extra cost and coffee capsules are changed at 1 Euros each, once you have used the first free capsule per person. We would have reluctantly swallowed the expense if the service and housekeeping was better. The 1st day we had limited housekeeping service for both rooms but after that on the 2nd, 3rd & 4th mornings only the toilet bins were emptied. Beds were not made, glasses/cups were not changed, coffee capsules not provided & nothing was cleaned. The hotel was not full and staff were not busy, so there was no excuse for the poor service. We mentioned this to staff on more than one occasion but they were frankly not interested. We got smirks and exchanges in Hungarian from Zander, the restaurant manager with other staff, who took no responsibility in the absence of a Hotel Manager, who was uncontactable. This was even more disappointing, as staff were aware it was my husband’s 70th birthday on the last day but did not acknowledge it or make any effort to make it feel special. It was completely ignored. Eventually, in desperation my sister visited the Hotel’s sister restaurant (21 Restaurant) along the street to ask for their help. Suddenly, the message got through to staff & we were brought clean glasses, cups, capsules and offered an apology, plus a bottle of champagne. What was obvious was that it was only when other staff from the vast Zsidai empire in Budapest were involved did anything happen. On the last morning the Attila, the Hotel manager was back on duty and did apologise and referred to his boss, who offered a small discount off our meals & drinks extras bill. Sadly, the hotel had already taken payment for the rooms before we arrived, so we had limited options. In summary, save your money and go somewhere where they look after visitors and offer far better value for money. This was supposed to be a special treat to celebrate a big birthday and it was marred by disappointment.

We are genuinely sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we would like to address your concerns. We are pleased to hear that you found our rooms stylish and well-designed, and our location convenient for exploring the historic part of Buda. However, we deeply regret that you were disappointed with the breakfast and the additional charges for eggs, fruit, and coffee capsules. Your feedback is essential, and we will certainly review our breakfast options to ensure that they align with our guests' expectations. Regarding the housekeeping service, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you experienced. What you described does not meet our usual standards, and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention. This issue will be addressed with our housekeeping team to ensure it doesn't recur. We understand that your husband's 70th birthday was a special occasion, and we apologize for not acknowledging it as we should have. We made an effort to make it special, and we are genuinely sorry for any misunderstanding. We even inquired about your preferences, including offering to arrange a special cake, but it seems there may have been a communication gap. As a symbol of our apology, we have also taken the liberty of waiving one of your dinner charges, amounting to 80 Euros. At the same time, we would like to express our gratitude for your patience and for bringing these matters to our attention. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us to continually improve our service. Please know that your comments have not gone unnoticed, and we take them seriously. This historical boutique hotel has a very charming design; each room comes with complimentary water and the beds are very comfortable, blackout curtains work well, and shower water pressure is insanely strong. Friendly staff and delicious breakfast. Highly recommended.

This hotel may be one of the best kept secrets in Budapest. It was my second time staying here and once again I was not disappointed. Took advantage of the location in the Buda Castle to walk to the Fisherman's Bastion, Buda Castle, and Matthias Church. The hotel itself is in a historic building and it is gorgeous, well maintained with very intricate details. The location is very quiet and I slept like a baby. The room was clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. The shower was huge, water was hot and water pressure was excellent due to the modern rain shower head. Every room comes with a Nespresso coffee maker and two complimentary coffee pods which came in handy for my early morning flight. Breakfast is complimentary and consists of a hot beverage, juice, two warm, flaky and buttery croissants, two types of jam and creamy butter. Did I mention that the price was very affordable? I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Budapest you will not be disappointed. The one thing I should mention is due to the historic building status there is no elevator in this hotel.

The hotel is located in a very quiet area of the Castle district with not much happening here. The restaurants around the area are pricey and most of them are closed on Mondays. The room was quite small and cramped especially if you are travelling with lots of luggage. The continental or frenchy breakfast is quite adequate as the croissants are huge and they give you 2, together with a hot beverage. Although the staff directed us to the Szell Karman Ter to pick up the metro, tram or bus to the city centre, we found out later that the tram stop is just behind the hotel and you can get a tram straight to the city centre. The staff were very friendly and helpful and always willing to help. As the hotel has no elevators, you have to carry your luggage up the stairs.
