Travelers' Choice
HOTEL RUM BUDAPEST is an ideally located design hotel created especially to appeal to modern urban explorers. Perfect for those who are looking for a cozy, fun and vibrant boutique hotel in the cultural downtown area of the city. Budapest-based designers and architects made our interiors unique and inspiring by blending the authentic and contemporary together in each of our 40 rooms. The building features a SOLID Sky Bar, where our hotel guests can enjoy their a'la carte breakfast every morning. SOLID is a 'rooftop' wine bar and restaurant, highlighting natural and biodynamic wines on the 7th floor of Hotel Rum. The place has huge windows all around, that gives an impressive view of the Budapest skyline. During warmer days and nights, the roof can be opened, so guests can enjoy the weather and the wines under the sun and the sky. Another member of the RUM family is SALT - a one MICHELIN Star restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel. Hungarian roots and flavors are the focal points here: the meat is from a family farm, and herbs and wild plants are hand-picked in the country by the chef himself. SALT is open Wednesday to Saturday from 6 PM to 11 PM for an exciting gastro journey.

This is a charming hotel in a brilliant location. Our room was large and comfortable with quirky decor - we loved it! You absolutely must have breakfast - definitely a highlight. It is served by lovely attentive staff in the beautiful rooftop bar, the menu is one of the best I have seen and the coffee is fabulous. Sadly we missed out on dinner at Salt but we will make that a must when we get the chance to return.

An excellent hotel! Excellent location- plenty to see and do with easy walking distance Our room was lovely- clean, comfortable, nicely decorated and despite a fair amount of noise outside with the window open (as you’d expect in a city) our room was quiet with the windows closed Professional and helpful staff Excellent breakfast in every way I’d love to go back

The hotel portion itself leaves quite a bit to be desired. The rooms are quite small. If you get the small room, don’t expect to be able to fit more than a single carryon bag. Seriously. It’s an okay room for a single person. We booked through a travel agency and the only details we got were “design room.” When we arrived and saw the space, it was abundantly clear it was not going to work. The hotel staff did manage to move us to a medium sized room for the remainder of our stay, but we probably would have left if they weren’t able to move us. That’s how small the room is. The finishes are pretty, but cheap and ultimately not holding up. Multiple things in our room were a little bit broken, or just not quite working or in need of a good clean. The rain shower head needs to be cleaned out desperately. It’s full of hard water deposits and spraying every which way now. The Mattress is very very firm, sheets aren’t quite big enough to stay tucked in properly, and the towels look kinda dingy. And the walls are so so so thin. I could hear people going up and down the stairs from our room, which didn’t share a wall with the stairwell which runs straight up the center of the hotel. Oh! And let’s not forget the glass bathrooms! Both rooms had a glass walled bathroom with a sliding door with a huge gap. My husband and I aren’t shy, but we do like to be able to use the restroom privately! If your were traveling with a friend this could definitely get awkward. Looks great in photos, leaves a lot to be desired. Our stay included breakfast. In the states that means cheap garbage food. We were BLOWN AWAY. The breakfasts were AMAZING! My husband said the salmon egg Benedict was the best he’s ever had. I decided to be adventurous and try the cottage cheese pie, and holy smokes. It was delicious. Came with espresso beverages and fresh juice, croissants and they often brought stuff over from the house. Best breakfast we had in all of Europe. Both restaurants in the hotel are Michelin recognized, the hotel itself isn’t quite there. They put lipstick on a pig.

Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. We loved everything about this hotel. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The hotel decor is a beautiful mix between New York and modern European. We chose a large room and it was extremely spacious with a proper adult sized superking bed. The bathroom was perfect with fab water pressure. The food was absolutely amazing and well worth the Michelin recommendation. We ate breakfast on the roof terrace each morning with stunning views across the city. Highly recommend every dish on the menu. We also drank wine on the roof terrace at night which was beautiful and the wine menu was excellent.

Great location, in a pedestrian area of the city close to restaurants and an easy walk to the river and city centre. Funky rooms and without doubt the best hotel breakfast I have ever had . Staff are very accommodating as well. Highly recommend.

The room was a small double and undoubtedly very small for 2 people! That being said we were only sleeping and getting ready in the room so it didn't bother us too much. The staff were friendly and helpful. Beds were super comfy. Shower was hot and good flow. The food for breakfast was ok but the menu could do with some extras. Service was quick and the restaurant staff were lovely. They don't have soya milk available for tea which was a shame. The poached eggs were quite odd and turned to mush when you ate them. Gluten free rolls available which was good. Orange juice was fresh and gorgeous. I personally wouldn't stay again due to the small size of the room but it is a nice hotel, clean, lovely ambiance and great staff. Also had storage for our bags on our last day after check out and check out is a decent time (11am) although we were woken up early by room service at 9am!

This trendy and central hotel is your perfect "home-base" while exploring Budapest. Located in the heart of Pest, on some pedestrian-friendly walking streets, the Hotel Rum has the amenities you need at a price you will love. The room has a nice bathroom and decent bed, but is sparsely decorated to go with the modern vibes. Not really a "con" as you will not be in your room too much while traveling! The breakfast/dinner spot on the rooftop was very nice, with views of the city and great food. All in all, I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Rum and would stay there again!

This hotel is superb in a great location. We had breakfast included which was served in the Solid restaurant on the top floor of the hotels with incredible views over the city. The breakfast was excellent with service to match. We also enjoyed pre dinner drinks in Solid …. The wine list is extensive and the Hungarian red is so good! I only gave 4 as our friends room was a little too small for a tall chap but the rooms were beautifully clean and very well equipped. Special mention for Patrik on Reception (George Ezra looks like HIM!).

Lovely hotel, and would definitely return. Positives : Stopped in Room 306, spacious, clean and very quiet. Cleaners came in everyday and did a great job. Restaurant was on the top floor, very nice location and had a great vibe. Had breakfast consisting of 2 hot drinks, 1 cold, I choice of main breakfast selection and a basket of bread and croissants. Service was good. Great location to see many of the sites. Negatives: Although reception were very polite the check in was a very slow process especially as we had sent documentation before arrival. Got a free drinks voucher but could only use it for red or white wine. Only went to the bar once at night and didn’t find it very accommodating, especially with drink choice.
