HOTEL RUM BUDAPEST is an ideally located design hotel created especially to appeal to modern urban explorers. Perfect for those who are looking for a cozy, fun and vibrant boutique hotel in the cultural downtown area of the city. Budapest-based designers and architects made our interiors unique and inspiring by blending the authentic and contemporary together in each of our 40 rooms. The building features a SOLID Sky Bar, where our hotel guests can enjoy their a'la carte breakfast every morning. The place has huge windows all around, that gives an impressive view of the Budapest skyline. During warmer days, the roof can be opened, so guests can enjoy the weather under the sun. Another member of the RUM family is SALT - a one MICHELIN Star restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel. Hungarian roots and flavors are the focal points here. SALT is open Wednesday to Saturday from 6 PM to 11 PM for an exciting gastro journey.

Hotel Rum Budapest stands out for its chic atmosphere and prime location, making it a favorite for those looking to explore the city on foot. While guests appreciate the hotel's clean and comfortable rooms, some have raised concerns about the soundproofing and dark decor. The rooftop breakfast is repeatedly praised for its stunning views, despite the hotel's limited amenities. Service is generally regarded as friendly, though there have been instances of unsatisfactory interactions. Travelers also note that the hotel may not provide the best value, mentioning overpriced drinks and additional charges for breakfast items.

Stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Rum. The friendliest staff here, very welcoming and helpful. The room was very generous in size, and came with tea/coffee, and toiletries and a hairdryer!!

They offered breakfast at an additional charge, however we wanted to explore other local places so we went there.

Bed was very comfortable
Lots of storage space
good number of plug sockets

overall had a really pleasant time and would come back.

Hotel very well located, transportation nearby, including the airport bus. However, we preferred to do it all on foot, which is easy from this hotel for a good walker.
Pleasant and quiet room as requested. The hotel is clean.
The breakfast terrace is indeed a plus and offers a beautiful view of the city.
Regarding breakfast, the dishes offered are well cooked and presented. Too bad, however, that it is impossible to have just a piece of fruit, yogurt or another self-service coffee included in this formula.
In-room drinks are overpriced, including water. Unjustified given the prices in town.
The welcome at the reception is certainly polite but nothing more, it is always the first and last impression that a hotel leaves and a warmer exchange would be a plus.

Located 5 minutes from the Kalvin ter station where the airport buses arrive and in the city center with its restaurants and cafes, the Inn, with its superb decoration, offers you original and comfortable rooms. The staff was very helpful. Breakfast is taken on the 7th floor with magnificent views of the city and always in this chic atmosphere undue'. You will be surprised to choose it à la carte and even more surprised at the level of service with flavors and fragrances worthy of a great restaurant. And there, it will be the only "flaw" I will notice, preferring something simpler like a buffet with Hungarian pastries e.g.:-p And the day of your Check-out, you can leave your luggage to enjoy the city again. Conclusion: we loved it!

This hotel could have been a fine choice if we had been given a decent room, but unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. The room we were assigned was awful. The shower reeked of sewage, and the air conditioning unit was incredibly loud. When I raised these concerns, I was told the shower smell would be addressed. Instead of fixing the issue, they handed me a spray bottle of fragrance, which did absolutely nothing to solve the problem.

I then requested to be moved to a different room and was informed the hotel was fully booked, though they would check for availability at their sister property, Hotel Gin. The receptionist later claimed that no rooms were available there either. However, when I checked online, I discovered this was untrue—there were plenty of rooms listed as available. It was clear the receptionist simply didn’t want to make the effort.

After escalating the matter to the manager, the receptionist’s attitude shifted dramatically. Suddenly, she was all smiles and managed to "find" a room for us in the same hotel. Being lied to and brushed off in this way was absolutely outrageous and completely unprofessional.

The location is very good. Shame we were treated so disrepectfully.

Dear dari53, We sincerely apologize for the unpleasant experience you had during your stay. The issues with the room and the handling of your concerns are completely unacceptable, and we regret that we did not meet your expectations. Your feedback regarding the sewage smell, loud air conditioning, and the lack of follow-up on your request for a room change is being taken seriously, and we will take the necessary steps to address these problems. We also deeply regret the poor service you received from our team, as this does not align with the level of professionalism we strive to provide. We are investigating this matter to ensure it is addressed. Thank you for your feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to regain your trust. Location is very good, very close to the city centrum and restaurants are all around the hotel. If you are Starbucks lover, then the coffee shop is just behind the corner. The room was amazing! We loved the bathroom, high ceilings and the view from the room was fabulous. The bed was hard, not good for me, but my boyfriend appreciated it.

But that’s all , unfortunatelly. If you are looking for a hotel with nice staff, don’t come here. When we arrived, we felt like we bother them that we have a reservation in the hotel. The facial expressions were really rude. Breakfast next morning was tasty, until I found a hair in my food and my boyfriend’s eggs weren’t cooked properly, so he didn’t finish it.

You booked a hotel room with breakfast INCLUDED and in the price there is only 1 plate of choosen food, 1 small glass of fresh orange juice and coffee or tea – since I have stomach problems I cannot drink black, green tea but only jasmine or camomile and they didn’t have it – I wasn’t offered another glass of the juice. Next day they didn’t give us complimentary bread and croissants basket – someone new came and they received immidenetely.

Housekeeping was really nice, but our bed was dirty – from chocolate unfortunately and they didn’t clean properly; we stayed there for 3 days!!

False information at the Reception – they tell you that Exchange office is open – won’t show you on the map and when you arrive it’s closed, so we had to look for another.

Since the Hotel Rum is popular I expected different service; I am a receptionist of a 5* hotel in city center, Czech Republic and this is not okay.

Hotel Rum Budapest is in a perfect location for touring Budapest with most attraction being approx 15 minutes walk. The rooms are lovely and clean and spacious, in particular the large rooms. Breakfast was included within our rate and this was located at the rooftop which had glorious views. Breakfast was options from an a la carte menu and was delicious!

We gave 4 stars because while the hotel is in a prime location, the hotel itself doesn’t have much amenities, e.g gym, etc.

My husband and I loved our 3-night stay at the Hotel Rum! Intriguing building with central spiral staircase, spacious high-ceilinged room with equally spacious bathroom. Location is perfect to walk to most areas of the city, or 3-min walk to closest Metro station at Kalvin ter. There is a fine restaurant on first floor that we did not sample, but their rooftop bar is amazing, with fabulous views of the city and serves an excellent breakfast. Insider tip: they will loan you towels to take to the Thermal Baths. Would happily stay again!

This is a smaller boutique hotel located very centrally in Budapest.
Cool decorated style and we had booked 2 small rooms, and they were, but which were perfectly decorated and had what you needed.
The service at the hotel is top notch, and breakfast is served at the rooftop bar, which is a pleasure in itself. This is also a wine bar in the evening and you, as a guest, must remember to book a table there to be able to sit down and have a glass of wine.
The hotel has an associated Michelin (1*) restaurant.
Really a pleasant experience to stay with you for 2 days as a family - Price performance is top notch.

I have just returned from a 2 night stay at Hotel Rum. Perfectly situated in near the metro and close to plenty of places to eat yet still very peaceful at night.

The decor of the hotel is beautiful and our room was equally lovely and clean.

Staff were always pleasant and helpful and kindly leant us towels to take to the thermal baths.

We were able to explore most of the sights on foot from the hotel except the Schenzy baths which was a quick and cheap trip on the metro.

The rooftop restaurant Solid was gorgeous, we had a delicious breakfast there enjoying the views.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Budapest.

Stayed here as a solo traveller. Greeted with a warm arrival and liked the room decor etc. The room is quite small but had a cozy lodge type feel. Bed was comfortable although did struggle to sleep a bit as there were 2 single quilts instead of a double. Thermostat in the room was good as well (seen a few comment regarding the temperature). The downside was the safety deposit box was extremely small, although the hotel felt safe so was ok. Having seen the comments in the reviews for the toilets I could see what people meant about limited privacy.

Location wise it was approx a 10 minute walk to the bridge over the river, had lots of restaurants/pubs nearby and approx a 15min walk to main sightseeing places / meeting points for tours. Breakfast had a great view too.

Noticed on the website for Salt (the Michelin star restaurant in the hotel lobby) that they sometimes do a package for a meal and hotel stay...wish I had known and booked that beforehand.

Taxi fares quoted by others are about right. There is also a van shuttle (miniBUD) for about 5500 HUF/person that groups passengers going to the same area in loads of 7 and leaves as soon as each van is full. I did this last trip and they said it would take a maximum of 30 minutes to fill the van, but we left in under 10 minutes. Skip the crowded counters for this service in the post-customs area and wait until you get into the public arrivals area where there are more less-crowded counters. The least expensive option is the bus and metro combination, which is 700 HUF. You need to buy two tickets from the BKK counter in the airport and board the 200E bus. VALIDATE one of the tickets as soon as you board, as they do spot check for that. At Kobanya-Kispest station, you get off the bus and transfer to Line 3 of the metro (the bus will stop next to the station in an uncovered area that seems to be the final stop, but if you wait for the next stop, it'll turn around and stop across the street under the shopping center entrances where there are escalators up to the station platform). Once on Line 3 (remember to validate), look for the Kalvin Ter stop and get off there. It's about a two block walk to the hotel from there. Lots of info online on various sites if you want more details on either option above. Personally, I don't travel with any baggage other than a carry-on, so transit is usually what i use. I only tried the minivan shuttle to see what that was like. Time savings by taxi is about 20 minutes if that's important.
