Stayed in this hotel for a week in August of this year. The room was very dark, since didn’t have any English channel although they promised, we couldn’t read or watch tv. We killed 4 spiders. The shower had no glass closer, water was standing all over. The last night the ceiling light went out and my husband went down to report it. The front desk young man gave a bulb to my 77 year old husband to change it!!! High ceilling, so he had to step on a unstable chair, very dangerous but this doesn’t bother the young man, who didn’t even came up. The bulb didn’t work, when I went down, this is the respond I got, “ I give you an other one if it works, works if not, it’s not. 😳 No manager or repair man is available at this two 4 star hotel, ( the other one is Anna Hotel, supposed to be highly rated.? We never experienced such a rude and poorly run hotel in our life. After numerous phone call we got an other night lamp, after I suggested.…
Asked for a taxi to pick us up at the station as we had had a problem with taxis at Budapest station but none appeared. The main hotel reception were poor and offered no help with our bags? The I poly had no sign and a dark and strange entrance. Room is very nice with almost a lake view and I'm sure we'll like it but so far the service is very poor.
The hotel is perfectly located close to the lake (cca 100m or less). The room is spacious although the shelf in the bath and also toilet seat were broken. The bed is comfortable enough but in case of the double size bed there is a hole between the two mattresses so quite uncomfortable if you are with your partner. Everything is very clean and the staff was very kind. The breakfast was also really-really good. Overall I can recommend the place, a bit overpriced but fine for some days.

+: Nice location, historic building, nice staff and a very well functioning A/C. -: safety box out of order, spider webs in the corners, hanging/broken shower holder, "sorry we ran out of espressos", three random chairs on the roof terrace but no table, SPA is a large room on the mezzanine floor with some chairs, an infra cabin and a jacuzzi, baby beds randomly stored on the corridor of the "executive" floor, reception at the front desk gently directed us to the "executive" building, which is an appx 100m walk on the head-stoned street but forgot to offer at least my wife some help with shlepping the luggage, room ran out of toilette paper had to ask for it separately All in all a lovely place that is just simply not high-end, not mentioning "executive". All good intentions but no experience/skills/willingness to treat guests at the level of service the place promotes itself. Just a few final touches, some attention to the guests, especially if they are obviously newly married and until then some humbleness when it comes to labelling and pricing itself.…
My friend and I took a weekend trip to Balatonfüerd and got the last room here at the Ipoly. We were lucky. The Anna Ball and FINA all happening. We loved our room 33. Up in the attic floor with a huge outdoor balcony. I slept on the pullout sofa bed and it was one of the best sleeps I've had. Honest. The breakfast is included and it is a full deal with beautiful settings and very copious tasty offerings. The location cannot be beat. Steps from the lakeshore and a 10 minute stroll to the bathing strand. This residence hotel is elegant and understated. Quiet and perfectly gracious service staff. Very clean and a gigantic tub with handheld shower. (Haha on the no shower curtain comment-- unnecessary!!) I highly recommend. The floors 1-2 look quite a bit fancier
Excellent location and there it ends. Ever since the annual trips to Balaton with my brother and parents when I was a child in the 70s I had a nostalgic feeling to get back. Unfortunately I let this urge to take over and have spent last weekend at Ipoly Residence. It was a disappointing experience, I am afraid. It has been a while since I had my duvet filled with cotton wool and the pillows with sponge ... The walls and the carpet were positively dirty and every morning we woke up to kitchen smells of the unpleasant variety. As others have pointed out before me: no shower curtain either. All this for EUR 200.00 a night? Never again, thank you. Over-confident reception staff in main building have absolutely on idea what hospitality means, they behave as if they are doing you a favour letting you stay in their mediocre establishment.…
You can step out of this renovated old building right onto the park along the waterfront. The large suite we had was on the top floor with a private terrace. The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast. The furniture in the room was basic, functional and fairly sparse. There was no decoration of the room at all (white walls, no art work, dull curtains). The Ipoly is part of the Anna Grand Hotel and we were required to pay for dinner as part of the room rate. The buffet dinner was in the Anna Grand. While there were many choices the one dinner we ate there was not at all interesting with the food from the steam tables being overly salty and limp.We ate elsewhere on the second night. With a little more effort this could be a great hotel but as it is now it is only OK.…
The location is fantastic! The hotel was renovated not so far ago, however it doesn't seem like that. The room wasn't clean enough. Dirty carpets and curtains. Fingerprints on the walls around the light switches. The towels and bathrobes are very old and worn. The food in the restaurant was really good mostly the cakes. Even that we switched off the heating the temperature was extremely high.
Great location, Good staff, Loved the breakfast. But now: -there are no double or king size beds in the hotel only two singles pushed together which is not idea as a gap always opens between the two. -The bathroom looks amazing but the shower is not enclosed so its pretty much lake Balaton inside the bathroom everytime you shower and you cannot have a bath as one is not fitted.
