I am visiting this hotel for almost 30 years. Never had an issue with the air conditioning. Last time, from June 16th to June 18th, was a disaster. I was given a room on the elite 10th floor, and when I entered the room, it was mach warmer than a hallway. I decided to turn on the air conditioning. First surprise was a lower temperature limit 20 C. After an hour or so, I had to go out and hallway temperature was still lower than temperature in my room. It needs more time,I thought. With outside temperature over 30 C, the room temperature increased, in spite of working internal air condition unit fan. It blowed almost warm air in the room. We have suffered throughout the night, with an open window and outside temperatures over 20 C early in the morning. We complained and we got another room on the same floor with exactly the same problem.…
We treated ourselves to a Saturday night here and the hotel did not disappoint. As an American living in Slovenia I have generally found the people to be warm and friendly everywhere I go but this hotel surely has some of the friendliest most solicitous and cheerful people I have come across in all my hotel stays. From the omelet maker who took her masterpieces quite seriously to the front desk staff full of humor and smiles in every language to the housekeeping staff working late hours to keep standards with a smile, the service was just excellent everywhere. I was concerned about the room since some pictures show old rooms of a bygone era but my room was perfect and renovated. Best of all, everything was logical. I did not have to turn on my brain to get hot water in the shower as is the case in some hotels. Breakfast was thoroughly comprehensive AND delicious. Seriously, the omelet was a revelation, the fruit arrangement was the work of an artist, and there was a nice bio/organic selection. I even tasted barley coffee for the first time! All rooms have a sea view, parking was easy, and the bar was beautifully placed serving yummy drinks and a very original and fresh local take on fish and chips. You can literally walk out the back door, off the pier, and into the sea. Even the other guests were greeting us in the hallways, the energy was just so good. I think once the tourism market recovers the hotel can work on renovating the public spaces, the furniture is definitely dated in the lobby. But this did not detract from our visit. My homebody daughter even complained that we stayed only one night. But we will definitely be back!…
Built into the side of a cliff, all rooms have sea views and the hotel is next to the sea. Excellent indoor salt water swimming pool. Large event facilities. Bar with spectacular views of the sea and surrounding areas. Free parking. Good WiFi.
This hotel used to be my favorite hotel in Portoroz. But not anymore. I paid more for the possibility to bring my small dog and got not renovated room which looked like something 2 star hotel or lower would offer. Bed was uncomfortable, we found someone elses stuff under the bed so only conlusion is that the room is not cleaned properly. Tables and drawers with huge scratches and markings (awful looking). This kind of room should not be sold and should not have the price it has. As for the staff, reception staff - different feelings, some polite, some almoust rude (young lady at the reception desk). Valet service is still excellent. Restaurant staff is well manered but again cook was complaining in front of the guests how guests spill food. That is something you would not expect from 5 star hotel. Clean the mess (which was really something so small that I thought why does he have such comments, maybe some child dropped a bit or adult but clean it and do not comment in front of other guests, it is rude). Bathroom in not renovated room is old, difficult to get in and out of the tub and dangerous. So I do not recommend this hotel anymore and if you are coming with pet choose some other option where they will respect the fact that you pay and spend more than average guest and where you will get descent room for what you have paid. I do hope that they will change pet policy and respect guests coming with pets (in many hotels pets are treated with respect, having their own bed and bowls provided by the hotel). Spa operating hours should be prolonged. I do hope that hotel management will solve these issues and make this hotel true 5 star hotel as it should be.…
Was at the historian and very happy there but have just moved here. Harder walk from the promenade but you are rewarded with better views. Looks more like a five star fron reception to the toliiteries in the room. Having recently been refurbished the historian has a very excellent room though. Very nice here.
Pro - beach is nice, especially if you shell out 20 euros a day for reserved spots - breakfast is okay - spas is actually quite good Con - the hotel and the walkway in front smell of raw sewage. Really. - the beach cafe lacks basic stuff like actual Adriatic food (ham and cheese sandwiches? Cmon people) - Typical rude eurotrash clientele who don’t respect personal space, try to board elevators before letting others off - elevators are insufficient and there is often a long wait - no conditioner or shampoo in the bathrooms. Um, we are swimming how are we supposed to clean our hair? - lobby ATM has a rip of exchange rate and large fee
Not worth the price. The Hotel is a little bit “old-fashioned”. When we came to the room, the balcony wasn’t cleaned. Also the smell in the bathroom was very bad all the time. Also the wardrobe in the room is very small, so if you’re going for one week, you’ll have problems with the space. The glasses at the restaurant was dirty, and we didn’t expect that from the 5 stars hotel. The good thing is the beach from the hotel, with very friendly staff. So, in my opinion this hotel deserves 3 stars, not 5.
This hotel was not my first choice (they relocated us from Vile Park to Grand hotel Bernardin). The view from the balcony is perfect, you can watch the sea and the sunset. The visitors of the hotel have a private beach which is often overcrowded, you have to reserve your spot early in the morning. The hotel seems outdated, but the location is very good and the staff seem professional. They even park your car. They clean your room every day. You have a variety of choices to eat for breakfast. Overall a good experience, but the wifi is horrible. You have a better signal outside (on the balcony or on the private beach) than inside the room.
Everything except the rooms was disappointing. The hotel is outdated and the hallways had a bad smell. The “privat” beach didn’t have enough space for hotel guests because non-hotel guests had the access to the beach. On top of that early rises reserved their beach lounges by placing towels on top of them, making it impossible to get a spot at 11am. So your only option is paying 20€ per person for a private beach lounge on top of the 1000€ you are paying a couple days stay in the hotel. Breakfast was also disappointing. For example scrambled eggs with bacon were oily and cold. The staff didn’t really care for the guests.
Well i have never before been in a 5 stars hotel, so the expectations were really high. Well it didn't disapoint, the room is very nice and big, big tv, and big bathroom. You even have a bidet inside. Of course there is even your own balcony, which is totally private, because of the way the hotel is built, and you even have your own awning. The best thing is the hotel has it's own beach, so you also have a deck chairs, and your own sunshade. so that's really nice😁😁well of course it's not all 5 stars, like the food, and small things in room, like AC is not properly working, walls are not properly painted but that's just small things, that are not that importanted really. I would really recomend visit. And also the staff super friendly.
