Let's start with an obvious, location of the property is just amazing. Cost of the night is justified by the placement of the hotel alone. Access to beach, lot of amenities, in the middle of Portoroz and to be able to go to all surrounding places that are just minutes away. Alas, the quality of the service is not at the level of the 5 stars. At least not what I was expecting, as services in 5 stars properties are rally high on Adriatic coast these days, and competition is not resting. Dragging my bags to front desk office and not getting a simple smile and offer of help with the bags, is not 5 stars. Rooms are clean a cozy, bed comfortable, but I could not lower the temperature of AC and it was really a hot day. In fact, corridors had more suitable temperature than my room. Breakfast was not on par with the rest of 5 star properties, and it was even questionable was it even adequate for 4 star, as it lack diversity for the property of such magnitude. Staff was somewhat confused and slow, so we had to wait even for simple things, like how to get knife and fork, salt and pepper. Could be a bad day, but it did happened following morning as well. Would I book it again? Only if the location is primary excuse, otherwise I would look for another property.…
we really loved our stay, the reception team , the pool life guards and the housekeepers are all extremely friendly and professional. the facilities are of great standard and the location is perfect. the wifi is very slow at certain parts (unfortunetely in our room too), but its OK.
We visited recently this amazing hotel and we are charmed by it. We got the junior suit, sea view. Every single thing is first class in this hotel and its worth every euro we spend. I would like to mention the ala cart restaurant Sophia where we had a fine dinning, sailors menu which was really a work of art. Also, I have to mention the staff, very professional and polite. I am sure we will come again here. The city of Portoroz is at great location because in a half of our you can be in Italy or Croatia, two beautiful countries who have a lot to offer.
Just returned from a 3 night stay for a work conference I organised for 45 people. The hotel is absolutely stunning! It’s in a fabulous location, right on the main strip in Portoroz. Food, drink, facilities & conference staff are all amazing. I’d never been to Slovenia before but I will bring my family to Portoroz (staying at the Kempinski) in due course. The Slovenian people are just so lovely. I want to give a ‘shout out’ to Jovana who looked after my group for 2 evenings, she was very helpful & knowledgable!
We booked a “Grand Deluxe Room Sea View” for 4 nights at Kempinski Palace Portorož, checking-in on April 8th. This property is simply a stunning landmark of traditional fashionable riviera luxury. We arrived in the early afternoon by car still a bit mesmerized by having just visited the Škocjan Caves which were on our route from Ljubljana to Portorož but our astonishment was just about to further increase when upon check-in we learned about being upgraded to Suite 120. The Suite, located at the left corner on the first floor of the old wing was breathtaking. Huge, with a full-sized apartment-like living room, a large bathroom, a large bedroom, a second restroom and a private balcony facing the sea. We settled in this opulent comfort with enormous pride and pleasure as we felt “at home” while exploring the coast from the near town of Piran, to the Sečovlje Saltworks and down to the Roman Amphitheater of Pula in Croatia, approx. 100 km away. Our experience at Kempinski Palace was virtually perfect. The kindness of the Concierge and of all staff, the quality of the food and service at Fleur de Sel restaurant, the SPA services (pool and treatments) and the support in getting our transportation organized while staying in Portorož, so many many thanks to everybody who has contributed to our memorable stay. I’ll as usual will conclude with a gourmet note adding about two additional local restaurants I’d recommend: “COB” (located on Letoviška pot 1a, just two minutes taxi from the hotel) and “Stara Gostilna” (located in Savudrijska ulica 2 in the near town of Piran, 15 min taxi from the hotel). Both unforgettable, highly enjoyable experiences.…
The strongest impression is the friendly staff, from the first to the last ready to welcome you warmly. Everything else is at the expected level. The hotel is well-positioned from the point of view of visiting the most important surrounding destinations in Slovenia, Italy and Croatia.
The Palace has a grand old facade and a modern glass extension, which work well together. The hotel immediately strikes you as a Kempinski. Very well presented, very professional and attentive service. Our room was very comfortable, the only item missing was tea or coffee making facilities, which was a shame. The balcony was lovely, with a view over the sea. The breakfast was fine, not up to the usual Kepinski standard, but that was due to Covid restrictions. Also there was no bar facility. None of the bars were open, which we learned was due to staff shortages. Again a shame, but understandable. Also only one restaurant was open, again a shame, given it was the price you'd expect to pay for a Kepinski, but sadly without many of the facilities. It is though the place to stay in Portoroz.…
Our room was nicely appointed and had views of the sea. Dining options were limited given the main restaurant was closed most of the time. A good and extensive buffet breakfast was available although the service (for beverages) some days could be very slow. We had half board, with dinner taken in Fleur de Sel restaurant. This was from a special menu which had relatively limited choice, although the a la carte menu was itself also relatively limited (with different burgers). The standard of the food was good and the restaurant staff were generally very helpful. We also had lunch at Forma Viva bar and the food there was also fine. The pool area was quite busy, although we always managed to find a lounger. The hotels has a dedicated ‘beach’ where you can get towels and bottled water, and it was also possible to order food and drinks. We had a few minor issues which we relayed back to reception. Overall a good stay if not quite up to the Kempinski standard we’ve experience elsewhere.…
Really disappointed. Horrible place. The restaurant was closed for both nights of my stay. I was promised a booking. Also poor service at the bar. The sauna and spa had no towels. Aircon in room not working. Asked them to fix it multiple times without success. This hotel is overpriced and quite horrible.
When you stay here, you could be quite sure, you will have a great stay. Some will certainly wait for more, because of the réputation of this hotel through out Slovenia I have to admit, i m one of those. Service could be improved, everywhere ( beach, turndown, restaurant...) ! It depends with who you deal with. Service IS not the same, depending of staff you have in front of you. A great stay ,sure , but not enough to be sure to come back again without to compare with hôtel in the neighborhood including savrudja in croatia for example. A Spécial mention to the manager of the hôtel, who classy deals with a problem encountered during my stay . He is very reliable and I really appreciate to speak with him about what happens. Even though I was really disappointed with what happened. Also spécial mention for Christine at the breakfast and Luka at the beach. Both real ray of sunshine !…
