- Vera S7 contributionsPercectly situated hotel in need of some TLCThis is a hotel for those who want to everything the city offers on their doorstep and know they will spend no time in the hotel, except for sleep. The hotel has no restaurant, bar or nice lounge. I visited the city for eight days around New Year to see good friends and spent minimal time in my little double room. The room was OK, though both the carpets and bathrooms were quite worn. The bed, pillow and duvet, however, were very comfy. The breakfast consisted of the usual hotel offerings (scrambled eggs, fried sausages, cereals, cold cuts, various breads, fruits, pastries etc.) and fresh food was brought in regularly. The price of my stay was very affordable. So far so good. What draws my judgment down is that the cleaning and the bedding seemed to consist entirely of emptying the trash cans and smoothing out my duvet. Also, everyone at the front desk seemed rather uninterested in their job and the guests. I can’t remember them wishing me a good morning or good night even once, if I hadn’t greeted them first. Another thing I find difficult to understand are all the quotes (Shakespeare among others) on the walls that have nothing to do with Slovenia at all.Dear Ms Vera, thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at Ibis Styles Maribor City Center. Because, near to hotel there is theater and due to this we host many actors fron National Theatre in Slovenia. Also our wall pics in rooms/lobby are from some plays (Romeo&Julite, Swan lake etc.....) On arrival and throughout our stay were very polite and professional. The hotel has a hostel arm to it too. The reception staff was friendly. The hotel offers paid parking. It is right in the old town. If you drive, don't follow the GPS or the phone, it will get you around but not on the right street. Tried both. Just follow the instruction from the hotel and the blue signs pointing to the hotel, everywhere. You need to go through the lift up barricades, typical for European cities. Parking onsite, 13 euors. Hotel is very nice, but has two wings one for the hotel and one for the Hostel. It is very clean, the room looks small because the bed is big, thanks God. Washroom is good, good shower with lots of pressure and volume. Staff is excellent, breakfast is good, typical. See my pictures. I fully recommend this hotel.

This was my second visit to Hotel Orel. The 1st one was more than 30 years ago ( as a high school kid ) so I felt little nostalgia this time. The Hotel has excellent location just in the old part of Maribor. The rooms have been obviously renovated recently, everything is clean and well maintained. The breakfast is very good , they serve good coffee and ingredients are fresh. The staff were very polite and helpful, I needed a taxi ride and both of them called taxi and helped explaining. I would certainly come again to Orel since it’s location is probably the best in the city.

Perfect location! Have to be ready that parking next to hotel might be full and thus trickier to get all family with baggage. A little pricey for Maribor and 3***. But room was spaceous, tidy, all nevessary amenities. Very good breakfast (except coffee).

The hotel is in the city center neighboring many old buildings.Not a good idea to book here if you travel by car-no parking places,not in the neighborhood. We did travel not as tourists, but in transit with my little girl, which is disabled. The hotel has 2 parking places for disabled persons, we had to pay for every night 12 EUR, no matter what. These parking places are filthy, looks like some people drink and smoke at night in the place . We had the room at the 5th floor and in mid March, it was cold (no heating) and the WiFi Internet never worked. The room was clean, breakfast OK. We also had to pay another 6 EUR , as "Tourist Tax" -despite the fact we were in transit with my daughter to hospital - no tourism, CITY was closed and we stopped at the hotel to get some sleep after a long drive Despite the fact the hotel had a lifting platform to allow disabled persons in wheelchair to get to the elevators - we have got no help, I had to carry my daughter (not able to walk) and wheelchair on the stairs in the lobby to get to the elevator. In the next morning, we could not use the elevator platform for disabled due to the fact it was blocked with some crates and used by the employees to lift goods with it . Overall ...the opinion is that maybe it should be avoided, unless you do not have other choice, or you really want to stay in one place very central only to walk around the streets in Maribor, which I is a nice city (from the better times I could travel for tourism).…

Nothing major to complain about. However, was unpleasantly surprised by electricity outage at 8:20pm in that part of Maribor, and worse even, that the hotel has such low priority that it took 1,5h to fix it, even if the neighbouring streets and appartments got electricity back in less than 30min.

Ibis Styles Maribor City Centre does not have the same characteristics of other Ibis hotels. Normally the receptionists of Ibis are very cheerful and jovial. The plus point of this Ibis hotel is that the room is fairly big but dated and the blinds in the toilet are dirty and dated.

I liked the hotel much better before Ibis took over especially the breakfast was better before. The emploees are the same and very handsome. Ibis have just raised the prices a lot. I have spent many nights on the hotel the last 20 years.
