The Hotel City Maribor is a fabulous hotel on the banks of the river Drava. It lies in a rather nice area in the wonderful city of Maribor at about seven minutes walk from the city historical center. Everything in that hotel is excellent. The room I was allocated (room n. 610) is very comfortable, spacious and peaceful as well as very well lit up in the day-time. I felt very well in that room and didn't hear a noise during my whole stay there. Particularly, the bed is indeed comfortable since the mattress has the appropriate toughness for one to have a good rest. In the bedroom there is a long desk where one can work conveniently with no distress whatsoever. I asked for a table lamp and an extension cord for the light over the desk wasn't bright enough for reading or working on the computer without catching a headache. I had both devices almost at once. On the days I stayed in the hotel we were given the option to have the room made up or not. I think that's indeed a good scheme since it's really reassuring for one to know that he can be out having a good time and simultaneously have the certainty that nobody will touch anything in his bedroom. The bathroom is also adequate and comfortable. The only flaw consists in the fact that there is no shelf in the shower booth to leave, for instance, the shampoo flask, while taking a shower, what forces one to leave it on the floor, with the nuisance that it implies. They assured me however that they were going to install one. The breakfast is very good and varied. Everything offered for that meal is of an excellent quality and taste. There is a large variety as far as pastry is concerned. The breakfast is had at the hotel restaurant. From the terrace thereof it's possible to enjoy a superb view over the river Drava and the relevant part of the city. Therefore, when having the meal concerned on the terrace one's enjoyment is enhanced by the possibility of beholding such a wonderful sight. All the staff members are very helpful, and most of them are kind and friendly. The receptionist with whom I did the check-in was nice but she behaved somewhat fretfully and proudly. At any rate, she was helpful and diligent, and in the long run that's what matters the most. The other employees working both at the front desk and at the restaurant are also kind and friendly and some of the ladies are even charming. The hotel in general is a fabulous place where one feels at ease, in a gorgeous atmosphere, so that the mere fact of being there is in itself a valuable asset, to such an extent that on the departure day one may even feel sorry to leave and would rather stay indefinitely. Staying in that hotel increases no doubt the pleasure inherent to the fact of being in the beautiful city of Maribor. It's of course a recommendable place to lodge.

Such a great hotel, very nice stuff, and service is excellent. Rooms are very big and very comfortable as well as so clean. The view from our room was priceless. Breakfast is small, but more than enough, you can find everything, and enjoy the tasty food. I will be back for sure. You have to pay 5 euros for parking per day which is very good price and acceptable for everyone.

Located very centrally and there’s the benefit of underground parking. Don’t expect much in terms of style - the design (outside and the interior) would easily win a price for blandness and they seem to cater for the corporate conference business. The room was of a good size, and the bed comfortable. The best part of the hotel is the rooftop terrace, where breakfast is served (or more precisely where you serve yourself breakfast) and the restaurant, which is clearly a notch above the usual fare with a focus on Adriatic sea food. It’s also a great place for an aperitif overlooking the river Drava below. So the three stars are for the hotel, the four stars for the Terasa Restaurant. There are some peculiarities that are worth mention: I counted three different lifts that I had to use: one from the garage to the reception level, a second from the reception down to a lower level, and a third from that lower level to the floor with my room. Once inside the room the temperature was set centrally to 24 degrees. You need to call reception (or in my case physically return to reception as nobody answered the phone) to be told that the room temperature and fan speed are all controlled centrally. Not only that, raising or lowering the window blinds is also controlled from the central Politbureau, probably only reachable via yet another lift. On the other hand you are free to choose your TV channel on our own.

I was visiting Friends in Maribor and choose to stay at City Hotel Maribor - it was the best choice. Friendly staff, clean rooms and pubic areas, adequate gym, safe parking indoor, within walking distance of many restaurants and bars. The restaurant at the Hotel itself is a great location too and worth visiting for lunch or dinner. I will stay again here next time!

My car stood three days in a disabled parking 10m from the hotel entrance (covered by a bridge) . The car-free centre is only a few metres away from everything important on foot, such as the over 400-year-old vine. Many street restaurants and sightseeing opportunities. We were also very lucky with the weather daily 34 degree heat and no rain. The only downside of this trip is that for the few kilometers from the österr. Border to Maribor a vignette (€ 16.-- needed for three days and 15 km) . We liked it very much in Slovenia therefore we were in July again a week in Slovenia, namely in the ISONZO area and in the beautiful city of Ljubljana incl. Dream hotel (Grandhotel UNION) but for this trip would again be necessary its own review. But one thing is for sure we go back to Slovenia in September, the prices in the hotels, restaurants and also the fuel cheaper than in Austria.

Hotel is modern, clean, comfortable and in a great location with an excellent breakfast. The staff were all fine, though rather robotic. The room was large enough, TV worked well, beds were a little firm but not uncomfortable, shower worked perfectly, and we had no big issues. Like always, there were a few annoyances. As mentioned by others, it seems you can adjust the AC, but actually it will always stay at 24C. The electric blinds will automatically open every evening. There is a door stop in the bathroom floor that is a safety concern. And the bed pillows were lumpy from washing them. But all those issues were very minor. Overall we were very happy and highly recommend this hotel.

I have visit the the hotel in July for few nights and I had Suite. Suite was big and spacious. Suite was missing few amenities like arm chair and dinning table since they could be easily fit into the space. I was also missing that the bedroom of the suite wasn’t separated by the doors from the living room. Decor of the Suite was nice but it reminds me on the transit hotels.
Service at the hotel is good and staff is very friendly. However on the second night they forgot to stock the bathroom amenities (shampoo and shower gel).
Bathroom amenities where good but where missing few essential like disposable razor and dental kit. Suite was equipped with the Nespresso coffee machine which is nice touch but there is no complimentary water.
Hotel is nice and modern and is definitely the best option in Maribor for both business or leisure travel.

A small group of us arrived in the pouring rain, at lunchtime. We went to the cafe next to reception for a coffee and something light to eat. Despite the fact that there was a bar, and menus on the counter, they only serve coffee. This is a modern hotel in a great location, by the river, and convenient for everything, but has significant design flaws. The reception area is very gloomy ( black marble) and noisy if there are more than about 4 people. It is not at all relaxing. I would have thought they would encourage guests to relax with a glass of wine/beer etc, but impossible. One of our party was partially sighted, and the foyer area was very difficult for her. Also, the lift system is mad. To get to the rooms, you have to take a lift down one floor, then walk with your bags to another lift to go upstairs to the room. The ( expensive) restaurant on the top floor has great views, a Michelin star ( 2022) but not many customers as far as I could see. Breakfasts were good. One evening it was very noisy until very late, sounding as if there was a disco in the next room, with people shouting and slamming doors at all hours. Ask for a room away from the lifts.
