The interior design of this hotel and the rooms is fabulously beautiful. The rooftop pool is amazing and has nice views to the river and to the castle. We had a lovely time by the pool. The cleanliness was good. The breakfast is not a traditional buffet, but offers lovely a la carte dishes with great flavour. Unfortunately, the breakfast service is very slow, which caused us to miss our morning bus to Lake Bled and ruined the whole day’s schedule. It’s not like in a buffet where you can quickly pick up what you want and hit the road, this breakfast took us 1 hour, mostly waiting for the food to arrive. How long does it take to fry an omelette? Also the breakfast staff kept asking for our room number all the time before agreeing to do anything. One time is understandable, but three times is just plain annoying, and wasting our precious time making the service even slower. We arrived at the hotel after a long, exhausting day of travel through Slovenia at 14.40. The receptionist informed us to our surprise that we are 20 minutes too early and cannot check-in before 15.00. It wasn’t that the rooms weren’t ready. If the cleaning was still in progress, I would understand. But the rooms were ready, I asked about it and they just refused to check people in at 14.40 for lack of common sense and flexibility. I asked the short haired receptionist if 14.59 is too early for check-in and she bluntly responded to me saying “Check in is only at 15.00”. This is the first time ever that we have arrived a few minutes early and the hotel staff makes us wait outside for no reason. Then another group of tourists arrived at 14.45 and they experienced the same rude awakening. So there we were, two groups of tourist sitting outside the hotel unable to check in after an exhausting travel day due to incredible lack of flexibility by the staff. Then finally the receptionist girl with long brown hair seemed to get it, what customer service is all about. Making the guests feel comfortable, not whining about 15 minutes here and there. She came to pick us up from outside at 14.50 and checked us in. She saved this review, it could have been much worse than 3 stars without her. Before we arrived, we had asked if late check-out until 14 or 15 is possible (even if paying a little extra). The answer was a blunt “No, not possible, our policy is 12.00”. We almost canceled the entire booking due to this rudeness. If they had responded “We’ll do our best to fulfill the special requests of customers, but we cannot guarantee late check out, as it is susceptible to the upcoming occupancy rate of the room, to ensure we have enough time for cleaning”, we would have felt so much better with this answer. The problem wasn’t the fact that they couldn’t fulfill our request, it was the blunt rudeness of the answer and inflexible attitude. The luggage room seemed unreliable, as they do not tag all your bags, only one and also they didn’t check who took which bag away with them. They should keep a better eye on people’s luggage and tag all the bags. If you are just looking to enjoy nice breakfast with no rush, relax by the fabulous rooftop pool, only see Ljubljana without day trips anywhere and plan to arrive late and leave early, this hotel can sure give you a great 4 or 5-star experience. But if you want to visit Lake Bled or other attraction on a day trip or need to arrive 15 minutes before check-in time and expect some flexibility and customer service-oriented attitude from the staff, this hotel is not for you.…
This gem of a hotel in a great location was a blast. The staff were helpful and the very cool interior were a welcome kick off to our Balkan trip. Great breakfast, loads of choices and served to the table, not buffet. The location cannot be beat and the rooms were quiet and cool for a good nights sleep. I would have given it 5 starts but the pool was FREEEEEEZING. Maybe later in the summer this is a welcome polar plunge but in early June not so much. It was however on the roof with great views and cocktail service so it won us over anyway. I would definitely recommend staying here. Most of the clientele were in their late 20s/ early thirties but us old people and our 11 year old had a great time.
A great boutique hotel a stones throw from the river and 2 minutes from the three bridges. Modern and stylish , good sized rooms with excellent double glazing - so very quiet. Staff incredibly helpful. Very good a la carte breakfasts . No parking in the hotel but they recommended Majestik parking which is far far cheaper than the nearest Kongress - but a 10 minute short walk or free ride on one of the electric Kavalir buggies that you phone to collect you. A great base for a short stay.
Pros- can’t beat the location by the river in old town, staff very friendly and helpful, excellent breakfast with lots of choice, Small rooftop pool which was really enjoyable for a dip Cons- the bathroom in the room is not really separate, the door is translucent plastic and very close to the bed. Not great if you like privacy while conducting your bodily functions
Simply the best hotel experience I could imagine. Not only is the location perfect, and the rooms comfortable and very clean, but there is a gorgeous rooftop pool and deck and a fabulous restaurant downstairs. In the price of the room is an over the top breakfast (in USA standards at least). We couldn’t believe we got a sit down breakfast with a waiter with the price of the room. It was quite the treat. On top of the amenities, we were in a bit of a sticky situation and the front desk staff helped us through it all. They were so kind and friendly and we felt completely taken care of. I can’t say enough good things about this hotel and the people who work there. Top notch!
Very noisy till 3 am as our room 19 was above a nightclub. Clubbers and drunks were partying and chanting both nights at the exit after 1st night I Tried to change room to the other side but was declined. Furthermore the WIFI did not work in our room but worked in the hallway. The ladies at the reception were polite and trying to fix the issue. When the 2nd day it was still not fixed the male receptionist told me it was not true and working!!! It was my I pad and I phone fault. Been travelling for 4 weeks previously and not a single issue. The room design was weird. Toilet and bathroom separated by a glass window! On a positive note the breakfast was nice
This is a superb hotel, located in a fantastic position by the water in Ljubljana. the staff were bright, friendly and helpful, and the room was very comfortable. The restaurant served high quality food at dinner and at breakfast, and the extensive wine list was greatly enjoyed. The city is an absolute delight, and the rooftop pool was the ideal place to unwind after a day exploring.
We arrived at the hotel having parked in the hotel’s recommended parking. A good 12 minutes walk away. The receptionist was not overly welcoming and had difficulty cracking a smile. First impression not good. The two rooms we had were well appointed but incredibly small. The bathroom area behind a sliding glass door and curtain had zero privacy and was poky in the extreme. On the good side, the location could not be better and the breakfast was very good. I have difficulty recommending this hotel as it is overpriced for what it is offering.
We were staying in Vander Urbani Resort in October 2021. The location of Hotel is good, right next to city center, but you have to leave the car outside of the center and walk for about 10 minutes to get to the hotel. After reading all the comments, we expected it to be nice, but it was opposite. The room was not so clean, the windows were very dirty as well as shower. Smell in the hallway was really bad due to the restaurant downstairs. The breakfast was poor. The only good thing about this hotel was staff. They were nice and polite.
I stayed here at the end of Nov and this is my second stay now in December after circling Slovenia. I thought about staying in a less expensive hotel but I decided to say hi. Ames’s eyes lit up behind her mask when she saw me and I knew I could never stay anywhere else in this city. What a wonderful welcome back. :) Special thanks to her. The energy and vivaciousness from everyone at this hotel is the best I’ve experienced on my entire trip. They are kind and professional. A perfect mix. I had dinner again and it was delicious …again. Service great, breakfast delicious everyone in the restaurant was fabulous (they were different from my last stay) . So now I feel I am very qualified to say that you shouldn’t think about staying anywhere else. Breakfast is great too and the parking isn’t so bad. Park it and leave it. It’s worth it to be in the center of everything and to people watch right put front of the hotel. Highly recommend you experience Ljubljana the way I have. Again, special thanks to Amra. <3…
