We stayed at Mescanka for 3 nights on our last days in Slovenia which is an amazing and over looked country to visit. The view over the pedestrian walkway along the river is so fun. The location is perfect. 5-10 walk to everything. Our room was delightful with everything you would need to stay multiple days. The most important was the customer service with Julija the manager. She was attentive and was always there for us. We would love to go back sometime to Vid it more if Slovenia using her place as a base. The location can be busy and a bit noisy but the windows block out all of the sound.

Mescanka was perfect for our six night stay in Ljubljana. It's located above a restaurant right on the bustling and charming promenade along the river. An easy walk from the train station. This is a self-check in property, and we never interacted with anyone in person, but that was not a problem. Communication was great. We stayed in a room that had a couch, table, and mini kitchen, which gave us a little extra space for our lengthier stay. We loved everything about our stay in this friendly, beautiful country.

I had a pleasant time at Meščanka. The hotel is very close to the 3 bridges and other landmarks in the old town.
I had the funniest check in story so far. I couldn’t find the hotel. Google map failed to give me the last step to find the hotel. So I kept searching, walking perpendicularly to the hotel until someone asked me if I were looking for Meščanka. It was Julija, the manager. She recognized me from the id I sent during online check in. Julija also helped me carry my heavy piece of luggage through the stairs.
It’s a small hotel. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. My studio had a sunken kitchen. The kitchen was fully operational.
Ljubljana is a very charming city. Most travel blogs recommend 2 days to visit. I, however, recommend 4 days to walk around the town, go to an early day trip to Bled and another day trip ti Piran.
I do recommend Meščanka for its warmth and cordial atmosphere.

Bring earplugs and prepare a good sound machine playlist. It’s important to know that because the rooms sit over a restaurant/bar, the sound sounds are loud late into the night (even with windows closed). Netflix didn’t work, and I tried to solve the issue through chat, but the manager or whomever kept saying non-answers like “yes it works” and “push the button” and then got mad because I was trying to troubleshoot the problem — which by the way never resolved. (This same person was also saying nice things, like “kind regards” so I initially assumed I was dealing with a nice person until I started noticing weird behavior.) My poor teen was really disappointed. Also know that when the sofa bed is open as a second bed, the space becomes very tight. The bathroom is also tiny and the shower gets water everywhere when used. Because of the noise and the ride behavior of the manager, I’d never stay here again.

Room Tip: Be very mindful, you’ll need earplugs and the manager might seem nice but is actually quite rude.

They got extremely fortunate with the location - which was one of the best in Old town Ljubljana. And then they managed to screw it up massively.
Rooms are contructed with the bare minimum thought - small, claustrophobic with hardly any windows for air or light. Service outdoes the rooms on mediocrity. The wifi was non-existant, as were toiletries. There was no human present who we could raise any concerns too. Multiples calls and emails were tried, not only to request for basics but also to request something for a special occasion. None were answered.
As a silver lining, the room encourages you to spend all of your time outdoors in Ljubljana, which happens to be an amazing city.

My family of four stayed in the Lili studio for two nights. The location couldn’t be beat and made sightseeing easy. There is noise from the riverfront establishments but if you aren’t terribly sensitive to such things, it is manageable. The issue is with the more “basic” amenities then one would expect. The A/C unit struggled to cool the room, which made sleeping harder then it should have been and us want to spend as little time in it as possible. There also wasn’t any hand soap in the bathroom (the first place I’ve ever stayed with such an issue)! While perhaps more quirky then intolerable, the floor had a defined slope to it as well. Communication with management was also slow and they never answered the phone, so it was limited to email (and they didn’t always respond). It’s hard to recommend this place, though if you are visiting outside of summer it could be worth it since it’s great to stay in the heart of what is a very lively and charming city.

We had booked a night at the Mescanka. The location is central, we liked that. Unfortunately we had not received an email with the access code, so we were facing a closed door. We contacted the emergency number, we got a code by phone , it didn't work. We called again, we were told where a key box would hang, so we could take the key there. As soon as we had opened the room door, an extremely unpleasant smell met us. With a glance into the bathroom it was clear where the call came from, you could see clear traces of mold on the ceiling. In the room were two breakfast coupons, but unfortunately without further information. As we found out, you had to redeem them in the cafe on the ground floor. Breakfast was à la carte, food was good. Drinks, so coffee and tea were not included and had to be paid separately.

This is a very cute, comfortable place. The staff is excellent. Very central. BUT… it is on the river and the crowd noise, thumping music go on well past midnight. I wondered why there was a bowl of earplugs in the living room. I quickly found out the first night. So if you’re not out there partying, you might find this noise level a little off putting.

The entire apartment is charming, well furnished, warm, welcoming and with every comfort an excellent alternative to high standing hotels.
I would have given it 5 stars but unfortunately there was questionable dust on the furniture, lamps, cobwebs in the bathrooms, as well as a significant problem in my opinion, namely the noise at night due to a room facing the entrance and the rooms along the river. There is a risk, as happened to us, of not sleeping due to the screams of drunken people which ended at 3am. For those who stay late it is the best solution for those seeking tranquility I recommend considering at least on weekends.

I spent three nights in the Ivana Superior One Bedroom Apartment at Mescanka in December. This was probably the best accommodation I had during my entire trip to Europe!

The location is absolutely ideal. Steps away from the river, the pedestrian old-town are and countless restaurants/bars. It doesn't get much better than this.

The entrance to the building feels very safe and secure. The staff were very attentive and friendly.

The Ivana Superior One Bedroom apartment is located on the top floor and is absolutely massive!

There is a large open concept living room, kitchen and dining area. There are enough kitchen supplies to make meals within the apartment. There is also a small desk for working. The wi-fi connection was very strong! The view from the windows are gorgeous and look out onto the river!

There is a large walk-in closet in front of the bedroom which can easily fit enough clothes for 4 people. The bedroom itself is very cozy and the bed is quite comfortable! There is also a small loft in the apartment which could easily sleep one adult or two children.

There are two bathrooms within the Ivana One Bedroom Apartment. An en-suite bathroom with an extra large bathtub for two people and a small toilet room beside the apartment entrance.

If you like to spread out during your travels, this is the apartment for you. It is also well equipped for long term stays. Trust me, you'll want to move in after spending a few nights here!

Unfortunately Meščanka does not have a washing mashine. We have a laudery service for an extra charge for our guests. There are also options for a self service laundry in the vicinity: • Self service laundry on the Wolfova street (3 minutes walk from Meščanka) • Self service laundry at Ljubljana train station I hope this helps, Meščanka team
