The Guesthouse Stari Tisler is a few hundred metres from both the train station and the bus station in Ljubljana. Stari Tisler is on the edge of the Old Town and again only a few hundred metres into the touristy town centre. The rooms are very basic. There is NO fridge or tea coffee facilities in the room. The rooms are air conditioned but the decor is fairly old and has seen better days. The rooms are clean, though old, and I found mine comfortable. The staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. The breakfast was very European, cold meats, pastries, cheese and cereal - do not expect a resort style buffet - I enjoyed the breakfast. The restaurant attached to the Guesthouse was very reasonably priced and the quality of the food was very good. The service was good. Overall a very economical, though basic place to stay.

I had a standard room. Room view rather bad (to the wall of a nearby house). Check-out by 11:00. Quiet room, no noise. Friendly and helpful staff. Air conditioning in the room. Rooms on the top floors, no elevator. The room was clean and cleaned every day. A rather modest breakfast. The hotel is well located in the center. Parking spaces (expensive and paid) are hard to find near the hotel. If you want to leave your luggage at the hotel before check-in, it is possible that the main door is locked between 11:00 and 13:00.

We went there just for dinner, while looking for traditional Slovenian food. An amazing surprise! We definitely recommend the sausages and the venison gulasz with idrijski zlikrofi (typical Slovenian ravioli), wow! And.. it's also quite cheap!

The room was cosy, comfy and clean- everything we needed was provided. Perfect location, nothing was too far away to walk to. We told the receptionist that we would be leaving at 4:30am and she offered to make us a breakfast to take with us for our travels, which included bread, jam, sandwiches, salad and bottles of water. I'm vegan and they were able to accommodate for me which was lovely. Would highly recommend staying here!

We stayed at the Stari tisler for two nights while visiting Ljubljana. Right from the start all staff were very accommodating and helpful. They kindly let us leave our bags at reception after an early train arrival, allowing us to explore the city. Betty on reception was particularly helpful during our stay, helping my fellow traveler with vegan options during her stay. Along with this Betty gave suggestions of activities to do on the one rainy morning we had. The breakfast was simple, traditional and tasty. Due to a very early train to catch on our departing day we would have missed out on breakfast. However the stari team went above and beyond to pack us a breakfast and snacks to take on our journey, suitable for myself and a vegan companion. The staff really make this place, highly recommend.

It is a simple guesthouse, more like a bed and breakfast. Nothing extraordinary about the place. The best thing about my stay was the caretaker, Betty. I have been to 70 countries, hundreds of cities, and stayed in many accommodations. I would say Betty was one of the best because she really cared about guests' satisfaction. She will help you in any way she can regarding your stay, comfort, or visiting places in Slovenia. There are a lot of places where the hotel reception simply responded to you with "I don't know" as if they were not interested to answer your question especially when it does not relate to the accommodation. I also love the location which is very close to the bus and train station that I used as a base to visit Bled, Postojna and Predjama. Cheap and simple. All thanks to Betty's guidance. The guesthouse also has its own restaurant with a large selection of food. I can't believe they also prepared Pad Thai. I will definitely book this place again when I come to Slovenia next time.

I booked this place last minute on Expedia cause I found a bus ticket from Milan to Ljubljana last minute. I booked at 3 pm and I was at bus station at 5 pm. My bus was delayed of 3 hours so I would have arrived in Ljubljana at 3 am ( the hotel only allows check in till 9 pm). I decided to not take the bus and I asked the hotel to get a refund. The booking was not refundable but this has happened to me other times and the hotels have always made a refund. They didn't accept any excuse so i lost 120€ for 2 bus tickets and the mone of the rooms. Thank you very much for your kindness. I would nevere bool this place in my life!

I stayed for a very short time but it was such a pleasant stay. The atmosphere there is nice and people are friendly and helpful. The rooms are cozy and everything is clean. The location is top notch, close from the bus station and everything else you might need. Definitely will stay there again on my next visit to Ljubljana.

I visited this restaurant two years previously when staying in Ljubljana with my son, when we enjoyed a hearty goulash with some lovely homemade bread, followed by apple strudel. Returning to this gorgeous city two years later, I was keen to find this wonderful place again to try more Slovenian food. I remembered it was on one of the streets walking towards the station, so we searched for it, and once again found it. It is very rustic with check tablecloths, and stone brick walls. The menu has a great choice of dishes at good value prices, and once again we thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. As it is down a lesser used street and is accessed by wooden doors, and is part of the hotel, it is not immediately obvious, although it is popular with local people. It is a great place for tourists to try typical Slovenian fare at decent prices and highly recommended.

Very friendly little guest house behind a Slovenian restaurant. The location could not be better, about halfway between the train station and the central district and a short, relatively direct, walk to both. Checking in was easy though we had to track down the person assigned to the hotel in the restaurant and the rooms are basic but definitely comfortable. The only thing I found slightly lacking was the breakfast buffet. There was nothing warm which I found surprising since it was attached to a restaurant. I would have loved to have tried some of their food in the morning.
