If I could give a negative star , I would . 1. We requested and confirmed an extra sofa bed . We confirmed the day before . None and there is no sofa bed , it arrived the next day . Little did I know this is the least of the issues to follow . No airco and one small fan . Rooms 30 C . Full of bugs and mosquitos . Toilets clogged and smelled of sewer . I reported that the toilet was backed up with feces at 8:00 am and 9:00 am . Arrived back to the sauna Of a room at 17:00 . No plumber called . Rooms not cleaned . Fake excuse that due to COVID , you need to request a refresh the night before . It is August 8 and they are riding the COVID excuse wave to not clean . Room smells like a sewer , is hot . A roach crawled in my son’s bed . Used and old furniture and bathrooms with mold . NEVER EVER .…
Yes this is an antique hotel, but it’s beautiful. She needs an update for sure, but the big rooms, massive windows, big bathtub and courtyard make up for being outdated. Breakfast is good and service is fantastic! We stayed a few days with a dog and had a great time.
A real nightmare of a hotel. 1) Huge rooms in a laborint of a house, with hardly any windows with a view of others than neatest roof. 2) Long wait to check in due to one person only (!) on dury, and she had tomshow another couple to their place in the laborint. 3) Terrible breakfast. Only a youg girl staffing, and she was making bread for the emty basket when we arrived. Long wait. 4) And the worst part: When we arrived back from an excellent dinner a couple was struggling to get into the hotel by the chip provided to open the entrance door. It did not work, nor did ours. Luckily we were able to force our way through the door. The hotel refused to believe in our predicament, as they claimed it worked in the mornig. Didnt help us in the middle of the night! The incident is serious and has been reported to the police. Sad start to an otherwise perfect stay in one of Europe`s most lovely cities. Stay away from this terrible place, is our advice.…
This is a 16th century palatial building which is absolutely stunning. The room we had was like an apartment with high ceilings and glorious furniture. The staff are all wonderful, they organised a birthday party at a nearby restaurant and sorted out the cake for us as well as providing plenty of information regarding nearby attractions. The hotel also contains a small courtyard/garden where one can enjoy a refreshing glass of sparkling wine or cocktail. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone intending to stay in Ljubljana.
Even after making our reservation more than three months in advance we were given a room in the attic of the hotel. The room had a wooden beam about 1 meter above the bed. The entire time we stayed here we lived in fear of bumping our heads. It is an accident waiting to happen! Needless to say, the room was not safe at all and very disappointing! Having said that, the staff were very friendly, kind and helpful and gave us good service. We also enjoyed a hot breakfast with good service.
First the positives, the staff were very friendly and helpful. This building is a rabbit warren of stairs and corridors in an old converted building, it is a real gem architecturally. The room we had was a suite and it had a lovely bathroom with a large bedroom with a high ceiling and beautifully frescoed fresco. The bed was very comfortable with high quality cotton sheets. There were nice armchairs and a good flatscreen tv. The location of the hotel is perfect. Just 1 street behind the very busy pedestrian area beside the river, so, 1 minute walk from the action but on a quiet street. What did not work for me was that the room was hot, and, there is no aircon. Also, there were 2 windows, but, one did not open as it was screwed shut, so, it was not possible to cool the room down in the morning or evening. There was a tall fan standing in the corner, but, it only served to move around the hot air, not to cool the room. The other challenge was that there was no shower, there was a nice bath, and it had a hand held shower head with a lead so that you could kind of shower while holding it in one hand. The water pressure was good. There is no car park in the hotel which is located in the old centre which is pedestrianised. You need to phone the hotel and the receptionist walks out to where the street barrier is (approx 5 min walk from the hotel) and guides you to onstreet parking and gives you a permit to display in your car. This costs €35 per day which is expensive and they should really tell you it will cost this much when you are booking the hotel. Try to book a rate that includes breakfast, or, you will pay…
The hotel is located in the middle of the University of Ljubljana campus and literally attached to its Music School. As a result, residents (especially in rooms overlooking the courtyard) are “blessed” with a non-stop repertoire of classical music practices and instrument tuning. There is no direct access to the hotel by car and you need to disembark at Napoleon’s Monument, 200m away, or park some distance from the hotel. Inside, the venue was a mish-mash of eclectic hotel rooms and private residences, separated in places by secure doors. Some rooms didn’t even have external windows. Our Deluxe Suite was really huge, with high ceilings and tall windows. Although the curtains were rather flimsy, the shutters blocked out the light perfectly. There was a huge wardrobe and plenty of storage space. Light switches were located rather haphazardly. The bathroom was sizeable, with walk-in shower. Usual accessories were provided. The poky separate toilet was rather inconveniently located near the entrance to the bedroom; the plumbing system overflowed during our stay. Slippers and bathrobes were provided but not bottles of water. Safe box was placed rather awkwardly under the huge TV set. There was also a fridge. Breakfast was a bit of a hit-and-miss, with weekend staff clearly not as well trained as the weekday lady. It was tasty enough with good variety, if replenished in time. The staff were otherwise absolutely fantastic, helpful and knowledgeable and they made our stay very comfortable. It would be useful however, if they got into the habit of answering the doorbell or the phone. Make sure you carry your key, with a fob, whenever leaving the hotel as there is a tendency to close one of the entrance doors.…
We traveled by car and we’re unable to get near the hotel due to street closures (received no prior information regarding this inconvenience). One from our party had to walk to find the hotel using navigation. Upon arrival at the hotel, he had to wait for someone to walk back to our vehicle with a card that would lower the street barricades to allow us through. Very inconvenient!! We then made our way to the elevator with our luggage and the help of a very nice young man from the hotel named Christian. Unfortunately, the elevator wasn’t working, so we had to walk up two long flights of stairs to our rooms. In the hallway, Christian told us we had been “upgraded” to suites for no extra charge (red flag). As we began to unpack, I had a question and tried to phone the front desk. The phone did not work, so I had to walk down (and up, again) two flights of stairs to ask my question and report the phone problem (there was another guest reporting the same phone issue). The two girls at the front desk said they didn’t know what was wrong and they would report it. Note: We stayed two nights, and when we left, the phone still wasn’t working. Back up the two flights of stairs to prepare for dinner. The room was quite stuffy and warm (no air conditioning), so we opened the windows and turned on the fan provided. After returning from dinner and exhausted from a day of travel, we hoped for a good night’s sleep; however, we quickly realized this would not happen. The “upgraded” suite remained hot, and the noise from the alley made our night miserable. This was followed by the very early morning trash removal. My suggestion: If you want to stay here (not my choice of decor), make sure you request a room away from the alley (the hotel entrance is in the alley).…
The hotel is centrally located in a quiet street very close to sights, bars, restaurants, etc. Even though the hotel is situated in an old palace (allegedly formerly owned by the Italian royal family), you are unfortunately NOT in for a royal treatment! The hotel is a confusing maze of corridors, stairs, levels, etc. Our suite was very spacious and bright, and was partially furnished with antique cupboard, tables, etc. but they didn't manage to keep this style all the way through, beds are really comfortable. The staff is very helpful, but it is a bit difficult to find out, when the reception is manned, and when it is not, but as you let yourself in with the room key, it normally causes no difficulties. Breakfast is VERY basic (probably because the hotel is small = 20 rooms). We visited the hotel after all covid restrictions were suspended: But still the rooms would not be cleaned (allegedly "due to Covid"), unless you specifically requested it - what a weird scheme/explanation! WARNING: The hotel shares courtyard with a music conservatory (in several floors), so for 10 hours a day you are "entertained" unfortunately NOT with music but with endless, annoying and nerve wrecking scales, instrument tuning, etc. so if you are not 100% sure to have a room facing the street: Stay away from this hotel – it is torture!…
WONDERFUL experience staying here! The hotel was beautiful and updated, very clean & COVID friendly. The staff were amazing. Luana took really good care of us and made sure we were happy with our stay. The rooms were large and bed very comfortable! We’ve stayed at hotels around the world and this was very unique with a boutique feel and personalized service, I would highly recommend it! Luana also set us up with some great restaurant reservations and a private tour with @kristijan.briski to see Lake Bled. Beautiful location and most wonderful tour ever! Thank you for making our trip to Slovenia so memorable…we will definitely be back! 😊
