LESAR HOTEL ANGEL was built in the centre of Old Ljubljana and resides in a large medieval house, where tradition and a classic look join the modern trends and approaches of topmost hospitality. Good knowledge of the city's history enabled us to shape the living space in a way that allows our esteemed guests not only to experience a pleasant and serene stay, but also feel first hand the charm of the life led by the old townspeople who once inhabited this place. In this way, we wish to join the old and traditional with the contemporary and modern. The hotel prides itself on its 500 m2 private garden that ascends the slope of the Castle Hill directly underneath the castle tower, from where a marvellous view of Ljubljana and its surroundings may be enjoyed. The garden has an exit to the Cat's Path, one of the popular routes towards the Ljubljana Castle. We wish to offer our guests a luxury stay in a calm leisure or working environment, where they can enjoy gourmet cuisine and spend time in perfect privacy in the very centre of Ljubljana, be it in the premises of the hotel or in the pleasant hotel garden. Due to the location of the old town centre, the hotel is a perfect vantage point for various activities in Ljubljana and its vicinity.

Lesar Hotel Angel is a really charming boutique hotel. We had booked the loft suite which was cosy and spacious. The loft suite windows face Gornji trg street which is in a pedestrian zone (no cars). The location is great, right in the city center where all the sights are. During our stay one room at the top was used as a guest lounge with a really beautiful terrace to sit outside. The whole hotel is tastefully furnished. (Due to Corona) the breakfast was a´la carte and very delicious. For parking you get directions from the hotel. Due to the fact that the hotel is in a pedestrian area you can not drive right in front of Hotel Lesar Angel. You will have to stop approx. 350 meters from the hotel. If you need assistance with your luggage they will come and help you and give you directions to the nearest car park (which is also in walking distance from the hotel). The manager and staff are nice and helpful. Due to the lack of oversea tourists the beautiful town of Ljubljana is not overcrowded, so now is a good time to visit Ljubljana.

The first value of this hotel is in its location, on the Gornji trg which is within the pedestrian area in the heart of Ljubljana. This boutique hotel is nicely decorated, cosy, but furnitures and equipments in the rooms are so so, not well maintained and not convenient (examples: dresser door lock almost broken, room is occupied by huge trunks and suitcases but they are fake, just for decoration and can not be used to store clothes). I have the Master Room, which is spacious, with 3 windows looking over the street (upgraded from the Penthouse Room because the latter could not host 3 people). But beware, some standard room such as Room #1 does not have any view, it looks directly on the roof of the house neighbor. Breakfast is fine, served at the tables since Covid-19. Service is not at the standard of a 4 stars hotel. The person who greeted me upon arrival is grumpy and unsympathetic, making me feeling not welcome to the hotel. During my stay, room keeping is done only in the morning, not possible in the afternoon (no staff available). Sometime, there is no staff at reception as early as from 6pm. I only understand at the end, upon departure, explained by another sympathetic staff, that the hotel is only occupied at 50% of its usual occupation rate due to the CV-19 crisis, and therefore staff number and working time have been slashed by 50%. Understandable, although it would be better if it is announced and explained upon arrival to avoid disappointment. So, may be my experience does not reflect the quality of the hotel in normal time but anyway, if I ever come back to Ljubljana, I think I will give a try to another hotel.

Somehow I can understand the great ratings here on TripAdvisor. Of course we enjoyed our stay there and its a lovely atmosphere with super friendly staff. Also the breakfast area is very comfy and very cozy. For breakfast the buffet offered has plenty of variety with a high quality. Our room was ok in size as you would expect it. There was some space next to the bed and a couple of chairs and tables. The cupboard offered plenty of space and included a regular hotel safe. The bathroom had no bathtub, which is not a bad thing - just a statement of facts. The tap mountings were according to the topic antiquarian and suited the general atmosphere of the hotel. The big bed was occupied by plenty of pillows, which looks nice and kitsch. However, repeatedly removing redundant pillows was necessary to have space to sleep. Speaking of pillows, personally the size and height of the pillows was to big, whereas the softness was way to little, so the comfort for a relaxing sleep wasn't really there. And I have slept on floors or benches before. But let me tell you bit more about the main issue the hotel has, when you are able to overlook the lovely makeup (design) of the hotel. Lets start in our room. The mount in our shower was broken. It was missing much of its grid, so our shampoo couldn't really be placed on the mount without coming off again. In the community area other things like the rug covering the stairs was quite worn out. Same can be said for some furniture. Conclusion: All in all, it's a reasonable hotel well located and lovely decorated, but with room for improvement - especially in regards of maintenance. However, I recommend the hotel

My husband and I stayed here in October for three nights, and loved this charming hotel. Terrific location -in the pedestrian zone but very close to the drop off/pick up point for taxis, and steps away from several good restaurants and attractive shops. The decor of the hotel is elegant- a wonderful blend of traditional and contemporary, with the dining room a particularly attractive spot. Our room was up a flight of stairs (no lift) but staff was available to carry bags up and down. The breakfast was delicious, with good cappuccino and eggs to order, and a very complete buffet stocked with anything one might want including terrific pastries and breads; the lovely ladies attending the breakfast room were friendly and attentive. One nice touch is that the dining room is available throughout the day with tea, water, fruit and cookies. Our large bathroom did leak water a bit from the shower/tub (which the hotel apparently knows about but can’t figure out how to fix)- a minor issue for us as we just threw towels on the floor. Our large, comfortable and nicely decorated room more than made up for that slight inconvenience. We loved Ljubljana and would return to this hotel in a heartbeat.

Stayed for two nights in this lovely small hotel perfectly situated in the centre of the Old Town. We had one of the superior double rooms with a large comfortable bed, lounge area & good size bathroom with plenty of fluffy towels!! Breakfast was served buffet style, plenty of choice although you do have to ask if you want something hot. (The croissants were delicious). Staff were helpful & friendly without exception. As other reviewers have mentioned, there are no lifts in the hotel so if your room is on the top floor as ours was, be prepared to climb a few flights of stairs (nothing difficult & staff will carry your luggage to your room). Also as the hotel is in a pedestrianised area, you will have a short walk with tour bags from the taxi drop off point. My only slight criticism is that there was a slight lack of attention to detail : the toilet roll holder in the bathroom was loose, toiletries & coffee supplies in the room were not replenished, not major issues but things I would expect to be sorted out in a hotel of this calibre. In summary a lovely hotel, would stay here again without hesitation.
