We have just spent an amazing week at the Kronau Chalet Resort. The chalet was spacious, spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped, making a perfect base for my husband and I, and our teenage daughter. Dejen was a fantastic host with very high standards and he went out of his way to make sure that his guests were looked after and that the property was in the best possible condition. We can't wait to return.

We stayed for one week over New Year. A skiing trip for beginners brought us to the area. The location was ideal for the slopes at Kranjska-Gora. The host Dejan was most thorough and the chalet provided us with all the home comforts we required for our trip. The chalet was toasty warm at all times. There was plenty of room for a family of four with two teenage boys. The chalet was decked with a Christmas tree and fairy lights adorned the trees outside. The chalet was well equipped and was perfect for our needs.

The owner cares a lot about the well-being of clients and cleanliness. The aparment (house) is well furnished and pretty. We really enjoyed our stay and recomend it to families or couples.

There are no hand soaps, so bring them with you. This didn’t really bother me as I had soap with me, but I think that you mostly get customary hand soaps so this is just a warning.

This really looks like a lovely resort, and we were really looking forward to staying there. Unfortunately, our passports did not arrive on time from the U.S. Passport Agency (a serious widespread problem at the moment) and we had to cancel our trip! A week in advance of our scheduled arrival, I contacted Dejan at the Kronau Chaletresort and let him know we could not come and gave the reason. I knew my reservation ($1300+) was nonrefundable and acknowledged that, but in addition I simply suggested that if they managed to rent the accommodation to someone else, would they consider refunding?

I didn't really expect a refund, but was surprised by the rudeness of the response. Dejan accoused me of not being "serious" when I made the reservation and that "any excuse is just a personal matter."

There are a lot more polite ways of saying "no."

We really enjoyed our time at Kronau Chalet Resort. The chalet was very clean, comfortable and attractive. The location was really convenient for skiing; nice and quiet yet not far from the slopes and town centre. It was also really helpful having usage of a locker right by the skiing. A big thank you to Dejan who helped make our holiday really memorable and who was very helpful throughout our stay.

The chalets are in a lovely, private and secluded location, very close to town and amenities. Dejan is a perfect host and puts a lot of effort into ensuring you have a pleasant stay. We had a wonderful holiday and it was ideal giving us the freedom to stay in and cook or visit the local restaurants if we wanted.

Have just come back from a 7 night stay at Kronau, and absolutely loved it. The chalet resort location is fab.It is quiet/peaceful,yet is only only a short stroll into town, and there’s a supermarket at the end of the road to stock up on food and essentials.Loved having our own little garden terrace to sit out in,and the beds were so so comfy. For anyone wondering,a car isn’t essential for Kranjska Gora, as many brilliant walks nearby, and also regular buses from town. We’ve seen some fantastic sights this week, and haven’t even scratched the surface.Dejan was a lovely welcoming host and we hope to return again soon.

Highly recommended. Lovely rustic chalet houses in small tranquil development on the edge of the village. Only 15 min walk to all amenities/ski slopes. Comfy & cosy & spotlessly clean. Everything you need for a comfortable family stay in a mountain village. Location is lovely. Owner is very friendly & helpful. Will definitely be returning.

3 of us traveled to Kranjska Gora for the May 2016 half term (myself, my Mum and my daughter) booked through Crystal Summer Lakes and Mountains. We chose Kronau Chalet Resort (otherwise known as Kronau Houses) as this was self catering and the other reviews we read sounded amazing.

On arrival, which was early evening, we were greeted by Dejan, the owner of the chalets. He showed us to our home for the week and ran through everything we needed to know, how to work the oven, heating, open the patio doors etc. It was a lot to take in after a day of traveling but Dejan said that he would be on hand all week if we had any questions or needed anything.

I could not have asked for anything more in our accommodation - No. 22, semi-detached chalet. There was a downstairs toilet and cloakroom area for your coats and shoes as soon as you would through the door (you would also find in this area the sun loungers). This was separated by another door which led you into the living area an kitchen. All was very clean and comfortable. We had a small TV with cable. A sofa with 2 blankets, a wood burning fire, dining table and chairs for 6 people, oven, hob, microwave, fridge (with small freezer), dishwasher and all the cutlery, plates, cups, saucepans that you'll need. The nice surprise was that the flooring in this whole area for heated and easy to control, lovely in the morning!

From the living area there were double patio doors that led to the garden area, which was not fenced off and is looked over by other houses in the area, so not good if you want some privacy, but perfect for eating outdoors and a bit of sunbathing. There was a large wooden outdoor table and benches in the garden.

Upstairs you will find 2 decent size bedrooms, both with double beds and a large bathroom with toilet, sink and a large shower. The temperature is easily adjustable and easy to get the right temperature you need, plus it's powerful.

Both bedrooms had wardrobes, enough storage space for what we needed. Oh and before I forget - there is free WIFI and good reception throughout the whole chalet.

We saw Dejan around the chalets nearly on a daily basis and when I mentioned that we did not have enough towels for everyone, he went straight away to bring us some more.

The location of the chalets is approximately just over 5 minutes walk, though there is a supermarket about a minute away and a Chinese restaurant. The town is small and you can easily cover it all in a morning. Highly recommend the fun toboggan if you are travelling in the summer, also I would recommend a walk to the local lake Jasna (30 minutes general stroll including stoppages for photos). Perfect picnic spot!

I found the variety of restaurants a bit limited - there were plenty of Pizza restaurants and cafes. Found a pub opposite the Fire Station that serves lovely Slovenian food. Great for meat eaters. I would suggest staying away from fish and shellfish as this is not their specialty - save it for when you travel to Lake Bled or the coast. But the pork, cured meats and sausages are a must. Be warned portion sizes are huge! Including children's meals - a child's pizza is what I would call a medium size pizza in the UK! Pasta's were over spilling the plates and meat sizes are massive. Sweet treats are just as big.

We had a wonderful trip and when we visit Kranjska Gora again we will undoubtedly be staying at the Kronau Houses.

We stayed at Kronau Chalet Resort from 9th September for two weeks, upon arrival we met with the owner Dejan who showed us to our chalet. After a few house rules we settled in for our holiday. The chalet was lovely and clean, very well equipped for a couple self catering, microwave, cooker, fridge, kettle, toaster etc. The chalet had plenty of room, a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, upstairs bathroom (shower, sink and toilet) and downstairs toilet with sink. Although we never took advantage there was a private garden with furniture. The chalets are a short walk in to the centre where there are a few bars and restaurants. Also 2 supermarkets close by. The area has lots of walking trails and a map can be picked up for 5 euros at the tourist information. Unfortunately for us we had 10days of rain (bad luck) but we still got out and about and had a wonderful holiday. If we were to return to Kranjska Gora these chalets would be my choice a real home from home.

Yes - we had free wifi in our chalet.

The locker itself is not massively secure, could be easily pried open by someone determined. The locker room itself operates on a proximity fob, so access to the room is controlled when no one is around. There are no gondolas in resort, and only 3 chairs on the resort side of the mountain (rest are small drags). One of them is right outside where the ski lockers are.

Can you let me know whether or not there is a swimming pool on site please
Answer from dejan k
Kranjska Gora, Slovenia1 contribution
Hi there, Thank you for the question. At our small resort therew is NO swimingpool; but threre are 3 SPA places at bigger Hotels with some swimingpools and saunas ect. We - the locals - always go there with our familiys or children. There are also other soulutions...a Town has a small lake 800m away where people swim in July and August... But for notice, I do not know any of proprety/acomodiation at our town/willage ( 800 m above the sea level ) with private pool. So, i am shore you can have some swimming, and nice time at Kranjska Gora and at our proprety... With Best Regards, Dejan, Kronau Chalet Resort.
