Excellent location in the lovely town of Bovec, Slovenia near the Soca Valley. Friendly and approachable staff who engage with the guests. A very short drive to see some of the beautiful waterfalls nearby, plenty of water activities and hiking. We dined at the hotel and the food was great. Two course with wine for two people was approximately 50 EU, which is good value. The view of the mountains from our balcony was a bonus. The only constructive feedback I would give is that they needed two waiters for the dinner. The waiter we had on each night tried very hard to cater for all the guests, but it was evidently too much for one person.

We stayed for 2 nights in August. The room was clean and spacious with a nice balcony, which also had nice views. The nights were calm and quiet.
The breakfast was very modest with very little variety, there were no fresh vegetables or cheese and not vegeterian friendly.
The location was good, close to the city centre.

We 2 adults

Have the best service at this hotel.
Price was a big deal as we did not pay for kids under 5years. ( all of them are under 5)
Actually we spend £483 - 3 nights . On new year event.
Food was very good quality, service also.
I highly recommend it

We came here with Slovenian tourist vouchers and were treated badly from the first moment. There were troubles with reservation, because of the prepayment but we went on with it. When we came here it all went downhill. The staff was rude, the shower couldn’t close completely. The rooms were nice and clean but not worth the money. The breakfast was really a disaster. There was absolutely no choice in food. I get the Corona virus and all, but this was next level. You could get some yogurt, some pastries, cherry tomatoes and cereal. But cereal was prepared in advance and then you just pour milk over it. I personally always put milk first and then mix two different cereals. Here this was not possible. I thought okay, at least there is juice. Well no, it was pineapple, cherry and apple “juice”. Later when we already sat down, the waitress came and said that we can also choose between omelette and “meat plate” - salami. Never would I expect that I would have to choose between these two. So we took one of each. The omelette was quite good, but the salami was the cheapest from the store and I got just two slices of cheese. They also brought us the basket with 5 mini slices of bread.

This is definitely not what I expect from 120€ per night. We slept in the same region for half the price and got a better service and waaay better breakfast.
At least what they could do is to not be rude to their guests!

We stayed 2 nights spending the Slovenian tourist vouchers. The room was ok but breakfast quite disappointing. It is served in the basement in a gloomy atmosphere, the self-service options are next to none apart from yoghurt and some sweets, and the "real" breakfast comes served as a choice between two options, one being "narezek", a plate of salami and ham slices, and the second an egg dish such as omelette. The salami and ham were of poorest supermarket quality, and the guest should better not deviate from what is on offer. "Could I get a boiled egg?" "A fried egg?" "Some cheese?" "Some vegetables, such as tomato or cucumber?" Nope, the cook did not prepare this. Likewise, all beverages come from two machines, one for so-called juices (not!) and one for coffee-like things. For 130 € per room/night, Hotel Mangart really should try harder.

The hotel is cleverly photographed. The disappointing reality is a rather sterile blot on the beautiful landscape and safe to say the view from the window is the best thing about it. It’s annoying when you go on holiday to pay relative top dollar for a place that doesn’t meet expectations. The pokey rooms had a musty/ smoky odour; loos didn’t flush properly; one thin pillow each. Again misleading photography makes the pool look big - it’s actually a tiny plunge pool. The receptionist was frosty and indifferent when we arrived. We couldn’t get snacks or drinks outside of mealtimes. On the plus side the breakfast was generous and the hotel is handy for the town. Overall though visitors to Bovec can do a whole lot better. It says four stars, I’m only experiencing 3…..or even 2. The Hotel Mangart welcomes your money but sadly not you!

This was a nice hotel, with good service. Everything was clean and well kept. To step out on the balcony in the morning, and see the fog slowly lifting, revealing the mountains behind it. The insight restaurant was good and had a nice selection for breakfast.

Hotel Mangart is a traditional style mountain hotel. Whilst the hotel is quite old, it is quite well maintained. The reception staff was a bit blunt. The rooms were basic and clean. The breakfast room was in the basement what was pity. The food selection was basic. All in all ok stay

I stayed in room 222 for one night as part of a Rick Steves group tour. The room was very large, almost suite-like with a nice large balcony. There was a king size bed (2 twins pushed together), a desk & 2 chairs. The bed was very hard and had very large pillows. I was glad that I brought a travel pillow. The bathroom was good size with a tub/shower combination and good water pressure. The room was quiet and dark with good blackout drapes. Wi fi was fast. Because of the size of the room, it took some time for it to cool down. Fortunately it was chilly at night.

There isn't much around the hotel as far as amenities. Restaurants are around a 15 minute walk up the highway. It was a good location if passing through the area, but I couldn't see staying here for more than one night.

Answer from HotelMangart1
Bovec, Slovenia
Dear GelTom, If need be, we can arrange transportation from Ljubljana Airport to Bovec. It will cost you around 150€, because it is circa 115 km (1,5 hours). However, if you want to travel around the Soča valley, it is better to rent a car, because public transport is very scarce. Best regards,
