Hotel Bohinj emerges as a charming destination for many guests, praised for its scenic location by Lake Bohinj and its fairytale-like atmosphere. While the hotel's service and amenities, including a spa and eco-friendly features, generally receive accolades, some visitors have called out the limited hours for the wellness area and air conditioning challenges.
Rooms are noted for their spaciousness and modern flair, yet there are concerns about noise and privacy. Although opinions on value vary, the hotel's cleanliness and stylish design earn rave reviews.

Detailed Reviews
I would totally recommend staying at Lake Bohinj rather than Lake Bled. It is a different experience entirely. The hotel is just above the lakeside and is an impressive design. Inside, they make much of the four men who first scaled Mt Triglav and the motif is everywhere from the shampoo to the curtains. The rooms have plenty of space and are comfortable apart from the wet room style shower with no tray so many towels were used each day to mop the flooded floor. Comfortable bed, terrace with 2 chairs and a view of the robot mower trimming the lawn by the car park.
Note there is no swimming pool. There is a large jacuzzi type pool outside of the spa area but this does cost extra to use every day so we used it only once in our 4 night stay. My husband had a massage in the spa which he said was excellent. There are saunas and a steam room included in the spa fee. For an actual swim, the lake itself is fine and not as cold as you would expect. Unlike Lake Bled, you can swim from the shore at any point at Lake Bohinj and it is unspoilt beauty.
We thought the breakfast was good although it was unclear if extra items eg omelettes also had an extra charge and the coffee machine was very slow.
We ate dinner once only as it was expensive for the portions served and there were few diners and not much atmosphere. A walk over the bridge brought us to two alternatives which we preferred, Majerca and Restaurant Triglav.
The hotel's outdoor fireside venue for evening drinks was nice at sunset.
We bough a Bohinj visitor card 19 or 25( 25 euro included local parking ) which gave us a return lake boat ride every day, free public transport locally and other discounts. It is sold at reception if you ask for it and is not promoted by them. It paid for itself for us as we used it for discounts at Vogel cable car, kayak hire and the boat trip every day. The lake walk is lovely and you can combine it with Vogel or the Slap Savica. We loved kayaking on the lake with a picnic supplied by the kayak rental shop.
Service was very good and the departure gift of t shirts was a nice touch.
Overall, we enjoyed this hotel and can recommend. Will attach a photo of one of the daily-changing evening menus.

The location is amazing, one of the best right by the lake, and the room was comfortable and very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful, replying quickly to emails. The grounds are beautiful and the hotel has a hipster feel to it.
However, to me, the price to stay was not worth the quality in terms of the finish of furnishings in the room etc (in my opinion). There are luxury hotels rated higher in the capital Ljubljana which will cost you less to stay at. I felt a bit like I was staying in an IKEA bedroom because of the style of decoration!
When I arrived the curtains were half drawn and this was hiding that the bedroom looked out on bin storage and some parked cars (although mountains and forest in the background), and the bedroom doors closed very loudly so light sleepers might struggle.
There was an additonal charge to use the spa area which you have to reserve a 3 hour time slot for €15. There were single supplement charges to any of their package offers online which I hadn’t been aware of.
Breakfast was not great, the selection had run out before the end of breakfast and Covid hygiene at the buffet was not good.
Overall I just felt it was too expensive but I guess you pay for the location.

Dear Roiska, thank you for your feedback. We are happy to hear that you felt comfortable in our hotel. Our designers really focused on the details, from the material choosen to the design itself. Since the interior has a unique design of the equipment produced only by Slovenian craftsmen. Chairs, benches, curtains, upholstery, even lights are unique products of Slovenian companies, which were interpreted in their own way just for this hotel, we really hope that we are not interpreted as a Ikea designed hotel :) Regarding the covid measures - we are fully aware that they are an important aspect of the stay nowadays and of course our daily life in general , that is why we are taking them seriously and are following them strictly. At the breakfast buffet beside other measures there is disinfectant dispenser and single use gloves provided. Staff are required to use mask. We really hope that our guests feel safe while staying with us. In case the guest feels there should done more, we will do our best to make them feel comfortable. Thank you for staying with us and wish you all the best! Lara

This hotel is just a “wow”! Built to be environmentally sustainable and friendly from the ground up, and equally focused on a premium experience for guests grounded in the beautiful natural setting surrounding it, it was a pleasure to stay here. We loved the hotel, the location, the bar with its top shelf liquors, fantastic mixed drinks, and friendly staff, and the amenities. The one thing which was not quite right was the temperature of the water in the outdoor hot tub. It was just warm not hot, and not so satisfying as such. You do have to reserve a time slot in the sauna area as they manage the number of people, which seems a bit inconvenient but ensures the saunas are not too crowded.

Even though the hotel really looks great, the service is bad. From small details to some bigger things, service definitely doesn't justify the price and 4* rating.
During our stay (three nights) towels were not changed even once and for two days they didn't even make our beds. As there are walk-in showers, some water spilled in the rest of the bathroom and stayed there during the whole stay which tells me nobody cleaned the bathroom even once. The balcony floor was frozen and nobody put any salt on it. Actually, there was a pile of broken glass on it from the day 1 and nobody cleaned that during our whole stay. We tried calling reception several times, but nobody answered the phone. When we have basic requests on the reception (such as "please bring us ashtray to the balcony", "do you have room service options" or "could you send us wine glasses to the room") they were not helpful - instead they sent us to go to the bar or kitchen and find someone there or take what we need ourselves. For example, when we asked for room service at around 1pm on reception, we were first sent to the kitchen, then after we insisted receptionist brought someone from the dining area and that person told us they have room service, however we can't get lunch before 3pm since their morning shift doesn't cook. Spa was good, massages were great, however there is lot of bad organisation there as well. For example, we have booked time for private spa week in advance, and we still had to wait for 15-20min for them to set it up.
All in all, hotel has amazing potential, but misses a lot of small and big things to be great. Staff definitely needs to be trained more.
Definitely not worth the money since they charge as a 5* hotel, but the service is at the level of 2* hotel.

Dear valuable guest, Thank you for taking your valuable time to provide us feedback on your stay. I have to admit, that we are a bit surprised on your comment, as we usually get a really high review on the service, and that staff being amazing and helpful. On the Booking portal our staff has currently 9.1 average (out of 10), which means that we are doing something right. However, we are also aware that we can always do better, and we are also aiming towards that. We will, of course, discuss your comment with the management team, and of course work on further improvements. With kind regards, and all the best in the nearby future, Jasna, Alpinia Group

It seems that we stayed in a hostel with a 4* prices. Housekeeping service very very light, sometimes we couldn’t say if they came in the room. Réception was ok but not friendly.. Restaurant’s staff is amazing, good food and service. Spa is very small so we have to book slot to enjoy it, which can be quite complicated if you go hiking.. and for this price. Location is great to hike. This hotel organize plenty of activities so it is interesting. We came next to Bled because we loved the hotel on internet but we were disappointed of our stay and we will not go back there.

Therefore bookings need to be made in advance. With kind regards, and wish you all well in the future, Jasna, Alpinia Group

We stayed here before heading out to backpack in Triglav National Park for four days. Before we arrived we got a notification from the hotel letting us know they'd be hosting a private event and that the restaurant would be closed and that there would be some more noise than usual, but that they'd put us in a quiet room. Totally fine. We arrived and they put us in a room that ended up being RIGHT above the loud music. Still we were fine with this, because we assumed that the corporate event couldn't possibly last too long. At midnight it was still going, but we figured it probably wouldn't be allowed to go much longer. 1am passed. 2am passed and we were finally getting upset but figured it HAD to end soon. We thought about notifying the front desk but figured it couldn't go on much longer so we'd just try to be patient. We also didn't want to pack up ALL of our stuff that late and move rooms in the middle of the night, again thinking that the loud bass that we could both hear and feel would end soon. Making matters worse the air conditioner didn't seem to work so we had to open the patio door to get some cool air in, which only amplified the noise. By 3:30am we were finally able to fall asleep and the music was still going on then, so I'm not exactly sure when it ended. I'm also not sure how a hotel lets a loud party go on that long with no consideration of their other guests.
Upon check out the next morning the front desk staff asked us if the room was "crowded." I wasn't sure what that meant, as there was only my friend and I in the room so how could it be crowded? I figured she was referring to the party going on downstairs, and since English was her second language she just used the wrong word. I explained to her that yes, it was very loud, and we couldn't go to sleep until 3:30 am which was miserable since we had to wake up at 6am to backpack 20 miles. She said, "No I didn't ask if it was loud, I asked if it was crowded." ??? I said "No, it wasn't crowded, it was just loud." She then said that it was our fault for not notifying the staff of the noise, and that had we notified the front desk we would have been moved to a quieter room. Which begs the question, why were we placed in a room right above the party when there were quieter rooms available?? It was bad enough to pay 200 euro for no sleep, but even worse to be treated that way by the dismissive and reprehensive front desk staff. It's a shame because the hotel is otherwise very lovely, but I certainly wouldn't stay there again. My family owns and runs hotels in the US and we would never dream of treating our guests this way.

Dear Ashley, As much as we always appreciate feedback, we wish it would be a positive one / also in your case. However, we are sorry for your experience. The fact that you are the only one providing us a bad review on this matter, it means that we weren’t careless about it. As we have checked you have booked a comfort room. Which means that we positioned you in quieter of comfort rooms; we cannot downgrade you. This was also a thing our colleague at the reception was mentioning // that we would place you in another room, but different type of room if the one you were staying in was too noisy. As for the “crowded”, not sure what went wrong in the communication. However, it wasn’t meant as you stated. The question was reffering to “noisy”. Please note that most of our employees are fluent in English. In case of the reception team, all of them. Nevertheless, we wish you would experience us on the usual level, where the majority of the guests provide us really good feedback. With kind regards, Jasna, Alpinia Group

We’ve stayed in a lot of different accommodations around the world but we have never experienced such a hard and uncomfortable mattress, it was better to sleep on the couch… I really advice the hotel management to fix this problem with some kind of foam as a mattress topper.
Ventilation in the room was not working. We had the comfort room, which is designed beautifully, but the view from our room was on the parking lot and trash bins… not worth the price.
Breakfast was really good with lots of local ingredients, but dinner was a total disaster…
The hotel is implementing a lot of great sustainable practices but they have a few issues. For example the electricity in room is always on, even when the card is not present… and tap water is available most of the time (breakfast, coffee time, in wellness) except at dinner where the only option to get water is to buy a 750ml bottle of water for 5€ 🙈
If you book some special package you can have a glass of wine in the wellness area otherwise this is not possible even though the hotel and wellness are not run by different parties…
In the lounge there are tables next to a stunning fireplace, but I don’t know why they do not take advantage of this… bar was opened until 23.00h but the fire died at 21:00-21:30h. The outside fireplace is advertised on the website as a special place in the garden, but the fire was not lit when we were there although the weather was fine.
The story of the four men who were the first to climb mount Triglav is beautifully incorporated in the design, you will find an image that represents them everywhere in the hotel (the logo, all the textiles, furniture, even the exit sign etc.), but unfortunately the story itself and its meaning isn’t communicated properly and clearly. You have to research it yourself on the website.
For 210€ per night (which does not include wellness) the experience didn’t meet our expectations.
I know the hotel has only been opened for a few months and I truly hope they will fix the starting problems soon 🤞

However, we are really doing our best and have many ideas how to upgrade the experience. Compared to some other hotels of the same rank, the hotel has reasonable prices. There is plenty of parking space for guests. The hotel is like a top hotel, cozy, modern and integrated into nature. You have pictures on the wall of how it looked just a few years ago, so everything is clear. The rooms are spacious with large bathrooms, the restaurant has absolute privacy between the tables, the breakfast is excellent and the selection of local opg farms is very good (a clarinet quartet played for us for breakfast!) When you are there and if the weather is warm, sit in the garden in front of the hotel because the fire is lit and order a Bohinj Spritz because it's top notch. The only complaint is the small wellness, since the pool is small and the saunas are narrow, so if there are a couple of people, it's crowded. All in all, the hotel is recommended.

Went here for a getaway weekend. The hotel is located close to the lake, it looks great since it was rennovated recently and there are multiple chargers at the hotel itself which worked as plug&play.
The inside of the hotel is completely in wood and looks amazing, the service was great so no issues there. We had rooms near the spa area and they were also completely in wood with a good modern bathroom. Breakfast was good and it offers a nice variety of local products as well.
We also had a very nice a la carte dinner there as well. The restaurant service is excellent and we had some great steaks there with nice Slovenian wines.
The spa area itself is nice but a bit tight when there are more people so that was a small minus.
Alltogether this is an excellent hotel to relax and enjoy with a beautiful Bohinj lake to visit and walk around.

My stay here was amazing, first, the reception desk looks awesome and the receptionist was really helpful. After checking in we went to dinner. I have eaten in many prestigious restaurants but something about this 4-course menu was special and I was blown away by the main dish. Then we went to the spa. They have nice relaxing Whirpool only a the The Finnish sauna could be a bit hotter. The whole room is out of wooden furniture and it gives you that cozy feeling.
