My Husband and I have recently returned from another visit to Alp Penzion which was a 10 minute walk from the main centre of Bled. Bled itself may have changed a little since our last visit 15 years ago but one thing that hadn't changed was the very warm welcome and the excellent friendly and professional service from Mateja and her lovely family who are fluent in English and do all they can to ensure their guests have an enjoyable stay.

The accommodation (which comprises 12 en suite rooms) was kept spotlessly clean with rooms serviced very efficiently each day while guests were having their breakfast. The rooms have tea & coffee making facilities, a small fridge, toiletries, free WiFi and the majority of the rooms have a balcony.

The breakfast (which can be taken either indoors or outside) was exceptional and included cereals, yogurts, nuts, dried fruit, fresh fruit, melon, various cheeses, home grown vegetables, different types of ham, croissants, tasty breads, home made jams and some delicious cakes. There was also a cooked option of eggs whether they be scrambled with added bacon or fried, freshly cooked on request. All this comes complete with fresh juices, various different teas and coffees. There was also a toaster.

Alp Penzion has a lovely peaceful garden with some sunbeds, tables, chairs, a delightful pond and a bar for drinks whereby one writes their room number in a book and pays for any drinks consumed on departure.

We flew from Gatwick to Ljubljana with easyJet and onward by taxi to Lake Bled, one can also catch a bus from the airport.

We had a truly wonderful week at Alp Penzion and hope to return again one day.

We stayed at the property for a week last month - two rooms, one double one for my wife and I and a triple room for my three sons. The whole experience was just wonderful. Both rooms overlooked the lovely garden at the back of the property and enjoyed total peace and quiet as well as privacy. The level of cleanliness is top notch with rooms being cleaned punctually by 0900 when we were at breakfast. The breakfast spread included a wide variety of cheeses, cold meat cuts, bread, home made cakes and pastries, cereals, yoghurts, smoothies as well as eggs and bacon cooked to your liking. With only a 10 minute walk to the lake, it is ideally located to be away from the hustle and bustle yet close enough to retain the level of serenity that it has and enable one to walk there for dinner in the evenings. Mateja and her staff - a number of whom are family members including her mother and daughter - work tirelessly to ensure that the stay there is a very pleasant and comfortable one. And it certainly was. A stay here is very, very highly recommended as it is really a jewel in what turned out to be our first visit to one of the most beautiful countries in Europe. Five start rating without question. We will be back.

This was my favorite place of the entire trip to Slovenia and Croatia. It was a stand out for location, charm, comfort, garden, but most of all for the people who own and work in the place. It is a short 10 minute walk down the hill into the town of Lake Bled, so we could walk down to dinner or for gelato. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated with rustic charm. The breakfast was always very tasty and they had both indoor and outdoor seating. We spent time every evening in their lovely garden, with the “Honesty Bar”, enjoying wine/beer. (They have a book to write down what you take from the fridge, so it can be added to the total room charges.) The people were extremely courteous, friendly, and helpful.

Location, rich breakfast and room are fine. But there is an enormous BUT here.
If you do care about your privacy DO NOT BOOK THIS PENSION. We stayed five nights (fixed booking). Every day we have placed the red label, "Do not disturb", outside of our door.
Nevertheless the staff (authorized by the owner) came in to clean the bathroom and entered the rest of our room. Just like that. They even took away our water bottles from our desk (not in the bin!) assuming it would be waste. It was not. We just did not refill them again at that time. I went to complain about this to the owner. Her response was more than amazing. In short:
"Sir, this is a private property and if a want so I am entitled to enter your room at any time to check out if all is well. I do not need your permission to do so, even if there is a red label on your door handle. I determine the definition of "disturbing" and therefore also when I enter the room."
I asked her if so would respect our privacy the next day and her answer was "Maybe."
We were dumbfounded. For many years we are very experienced international travelers and this is absolutely way out of line. This never happened to us before. It is a direct violation of our privacy and no excuses at all. Apparently this is how she rules the place.
There is only one reason to ignore the red label: dangerous and/or life threatening situations. That, for sure, was not the case here.
So the location, breakfast and room might be fine but if this is her way to deal with the privacy of her guests I would recommend not to book Alp Penzion in Bled. Not even for one night because you never know if....
After all a horrible experience.

This pension is operated by the third generation of the family. Louisa, her mother and staff operate this place in an exceptional manner. The rooms are comfortable and the grounds immaculate. The garden and back yard offer chairs, a barbecue area and small bar. Drinks there are on the honor system. Breakfast is typical European with eggs how you like it added. The pension is located on a quiet pastoral lane about an easy .5 mile walk from the hustle and restaurants of central Bled. Highly recommend this place!

Thank you fer being a perfect host!
You made my partners birthday so special, we
loved the birthday cake, plus your smiley eggs were fantastic!
If you’re looking for a truly authentic slovenian place with beautiful views then this is the place. We were so sad to leave. Thank you for helping us learn your language and showing us amazing places to go with your wealth of knowledge. You made us feel at home + we especially loved your cat! Your gardens are BEAUTIFUL and peaceful and we had an amazing time at the spa, it was just stunning. The bike rental was a fantastic touch - the host thought of everything, even the free umbrellas you can borrow. Can’t wait to come back!

Warm hospitality, family run place. Relaxing place with a nice back garden. We had a family room with balcony which was super clean. Delicious daily fresh breakfast always served with a smile 😃 by Radmila. Mateja always there to help you regarding places to visit and transport. It's easy place to travel by public transport and your own car. So definitely highly recommended 👌 .

Dear madame/sir, Our restaurant is open for the dinner only for the guests of the hotel who are staying here on a half board base or who decide to book dinner on a daily base. It`s open during the high season every day except on Sunday. In the low season like end of September and October the dinner is cooked only on request depending on how many guests are interested in eating at our restaurant. If the dinner is taken on a daily base it`s required to book it. A different menu is cooked every day. All that can be confirmed at the time of booking.

Dear madame/sir, The walk around the lake is flat and away from the traffic. It takes app. 90 minutes to walk slowly around the lake starting from our pension. There are coffee bars by the lake. Most of the Bled sightseein can be done while you walk around our beautiful lake, like walking to the castle, visiting the island, taking the chairlift to the hill Straza and sliding down on the bob. Welcome in Bled!

Our wellness&spa is open every day from 12:00 till 21:00, on weekends even longer. Our spa is a boutiq style and we never take more than 10 guests at the same time. During the week the reservation is not required but it is recommended. Over the weekend we are usually busier therefor the reservation is required.
