This hotel is not for everybody. If you like hightech stuff, modern design, pool, gym this is not for you.But if you enjoy a classical style hotel with a touch of history- this has been Tito’s summer retreat, the best view in Bled then look no further. Rooms are very big, with living room and bedroom, breakfast is good, free parking, free boat ride, and the chance to swim in the cristal clear waters of the lake on a private “ beach”. You can rent bikes- it takes 1 hour to make a complete tour of the lake.
Stayed here for a few days recently and was generally pleased with the experience, although I'll note that what you are paying for is mostly the location and the historic character of the building (used to be Tito's vacation home, and before that was a holiday home for the Hapsburgs). The location is, yes, Lake Bled, but also very specifically the quieter end of the lake; the hotel has fairly large grounds and is not near any other hotels, so it's a more peaceful spot than the eastern end of the lake. It also offers access to a private "beach" (it's a dock - very little of the lake's shoreline is made up of sandy areas, mostly its grass or shrubbery) and free use of rowboats. The room itself was on the more basic side, although the one I booked did have a view of the lake and a balcony area. Bed was decently comfortable, bathroom was a bit dated but there was nothing wrong with it. No air conditioning but the excellent ceiling fan meant it wasn't necessary, anyway. Rooms seem decently insulated from sound, as I didn't notice any noise from other rooms. The room has a kettle and tea available. We did not spend much time in the room, since we were there to swim in the lake, but I found it a comfortable space for the time we did spend in it. The private swimming area for the hotel was good although I wonder if its large enough - there was plenty of space each day I went, but the pandemic is still restricting travel to a large extent, so the hotel wasn't very full. The dock features chairs, huge umbrellas, a towel service, a drink service, changing rooms, and toilets. In addition to the dock, there's a section marked off with buoys for use by hotel guests; a lifeguard on duty is responsible for keeping people swimming in this area safe. Lifeguard also handles drink orders for guests at the dock. Adjacent to the swimming area is the boathouse for the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel was pretty good. The breakfast is a buffet, but you can also order eggs fresh from one of the waitstaff on hand (options were sunny-side up, scrambled, or an omelette - better bring a big appetite if you order scrambled, the plate they served me easily involved five eggs). Lots of outdoor seating; indoor is available, too, but I did not see anyone making use of it. The dining area overlooks the lake. Had a great stay and am planning to make a return trip. Having said that, it is one of the pricier options in the area... but is also probably a lot quieter than places like the Park Hotel given its location.…
Only had breakfast here. The place is kind of old school but has a great wibe and wonderful view to the lake. The breakfast buffet was below what would be expected in a high-end place like this. Service was very nice, respectful and helpful. It could be a good idea to have some nicer (maybe specialty) coffee, not Illy, which is not so bad, but again; high class place deserves premium quality. All in all nice experience:)
The views of Lake Bled, its island and Castle Bled are wonderful and you get a rowboat to take out on the lake. The rooms are a bit utilitarian but fine for the price. They are decorated with scenes of striving heroes of socialist labour from the Tito era. Drab and depressing though the pictures are, one has to admire Slovenia for acknowledging its imperfect history while the West “cancels” its own. The staff are pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and varied. Laundry was returned in a few hours. The spa gave great massages. That said, there are some potential deal-breakers which you need to be aware of. There is no air-conditioning. The ceiling fans and absence of bugs despite a lakeside location made this quite bearable. There is no coffee machine even in the suites. At these prices, buy a coffee machine! We did. The dinner menu is tiny and never changes. We had a car and were happy to explore the many excellent restaurants in the area. It is no longer pet-friendly. This will probably prevent our return in future.…
Stepping back in time - that's what staying at this hotel feels like. We only stayed for a night and it was great to sit on the little balcony and have a drink whilst the sun was setting. There is no air con at this hotel which in summer was awful, to be honest (but worth it!). Dinner service was very very odd - we have one waiter and he was switched halfway through for no real reason (it's covid - the hotel was only about 1/4 full) - we waited for agggess for our plates to be removed & the dessert menu and were then charged for a glass of wine we didn't have. The little boathouse and the private beach were great - how amazing is lake bled! It was so great to see it without all the tourists.
