We stayed in this hotel over Christmas and really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable, the food was excellent and the staff really pleasant and helpful.Just a short walk from the Lake, the hotel is in an ideal position.Highly recommended.h
Very nice hotel and conveniently located in Bled. There is a grocery store next door also and only a couple hundred feet from the lake. Buffet was very good, and actually can not say one bad thing about the plae!!
We recently returned from a Christmas break in Bled, staying at the Hotel Kompas. The hotel is conveniently located just a short walk from the lake, shops and bars. Our room had a lake view with the wonderful site of the snow capped Julian Alps and Bled Castle, which was lit up all night. Our room was clean with a comfortable bed and everything we needed. However, the bathroom was like a sauna as we could not turn the radiator down. The staff did manage to turn it down a little which was some improvement but it meant our room remained very warm. Overall, the whole hotel was overheated and a number of guests resorted to wearing t-shirts. On a Christmas break you expect to be able to relax with a drink but there was nowhere in the hotel to do this. The bar was in fact a cafe, so just tables and chairs and no where to sit comfortably. We were shocked to be told, rather abruptly, on our first night to leave the cafe/bar at 10.15pm as they were closing! After that we left the hotel, with others, each evening after dinner to seek more congenial surroundings in either another hotel or one of the local bars. The meals were all buffet style but we found hat the food did not seem to remain very hot in the serving dishes. Also the way the food was laid out resulted in a lack of flow and people having to juggle around each other, On a positive, Bled is a wonderful place to visit at Christmas.…
In response to previous review our experience on a 5 night Christmas break had no negatives whatsoever. From a warm front of house welcome, spotless bedroom and bathroom, spoilt for choice breakfast and a superby buffet dinner. Staff were warm, friendly and welcoming. The hotel was extremely busy with groups as well as individual families, they coped admirably, expected to speak all our languages, and should be praised and thanked and not put down. Well done Kompas we will be back next year, thank you all of you.
In generaly, we were hugely disappointed with staying in this hotel. Photos of rooms advertised are deceptive and misleading. In reality standard room appears much smaller. Hotel was overheated. The air condition in our room was working so-so and we had to ask for help repeatedly. Staff working here is generally unhappy and not interested and far down under as required for a 4 star hotel. At least, food was ok. Waiters working in caffe shop, though it is perfectly located with the lake view, seemed to be unhappy at all times. The worst was the front desk. Every day we came back from our trip, there was working old receptionist, not welcoming at all and without smile on his face. He was not wearing uniform like tie and full suit which is normally prescribed by the hotel employees, but kind of very worn up clothes and he smelled funny too.. He was unhappy and with his appearance definetly not the ambassador of hotel nor his representative. When we returned back lastnight to the hotel, after the whole day trip, tired but with good impressions about the area, we asked him to settle our account and as expected, there was a problem. He argued, that the bill can not be settled, since he wasworking at the night shift and that he had other things to do. While traveling all around, there was never a problem to get the bill during the night shift in the hotel, but here obviously was. He completely ruined over positive impressions with his negative attitude Since we were departing next morning,we were also eager to acquire some additional information regarding to transportation and shuttle service, and again, as expected, was a problem. We caught him completely off guard, he obviously lacked not only basic informational and communicational skills, but failed as hotel employee in basic principles of costumer relations. His English was poor with the strong locala ccent, which could be by the way barely understood. At one occasion, when we reported poor air condition in our room, he said "then open the window" and "we will send somebody tomorrow". and this somebody never appeared. He didn t even bother to check how and why the machine in our room is working or not working. Primary care for guests concerns is at least expected, but not here. At this encounter, we noticed, that he had also hygienic problems. Apparently, he could not bother less and completely ruined our holiday. Since I paid good money to stay here, basic respect is at least expected. Overall, I do not recommend this hotel. And tip for the management: put this person to the kitchen, since kitchenware does not require any skill and profession in costumer relations. Not all the people are fit or qualified to be hotel receptionist, the old and tired by particular. Hotel itself is dated, carpet the same in the hallway room an rooms is filthy and full of stains. Cleanliness is a general problem here. Our room was not taken care couple of times. If we take a life as a chocolate box, when you never know, what you gonna get, here we got theworst. Stay elsewhere.…
Just returned from the Newmarket Christmas break. The 6 day stay at Hotel Kompas was very enjoyable. I need to add that ALL of the Slovenian people made us very welcome. A genuine feeling of hospitality and friendliness pervaded wherever we went. Regarding the hotel Kompas: Good points Soft comfortable bed with crisp linen. Clean, Lake View ( with view of illuminated castle), quiet, good choice of food - plentiful ( Buffett), exceptionally courteous waitress service), Made every effort to make the stay Christmassy and suggested places nearby to visit ie Children’s Christmas singing, music on at other hotels etc. Set in a fairytale picturesque setting- it’s perfect for Christmas breaks. Pool which we didn’t get chance to use as there’s so much to see in the area. Could Improve Points! Uncomfortably heated! We really struggled with the heat in the Hotel!!!! , made service didn’t replenish the rooms ( we had to ask), could do with a Lounge - there are only two settees in the reception area with no atmosphere !extremely minibar. We would certainly recommend the Newmarket Christmas break. It was like being in a fairytale! …
Very welcoming hotel and recommended ... staff very accommodating (especially the concierge Tomaz Kosir who was very helpful when we arrived late due to travel delays)... the breakfast is plentiful and varied, the spa / swimming pool very relaxing after a hard day of tourist activities... rooms comfortable and modern, big rain shower in our en suite which was a bonus ... good location for the main town ... will come again
We were looking for the standard hotel somewhere in the center. While we were a bit hesitating, since opinions are so so, they are varying, nevertheless, everything came out right for us. Kompas hotel has a funny design, intermediate floors, not directly accessible with the elevators, may cause additional effort in order to reach your room.Yes rooms are a bit shaby. Hotel itself does not have ideal position, though view over the lake can be caught, since there is on elevated position. The real treat here is the staff, especially the front desk, very friendly and costumer oriented. Hotel is advertising free walking tours, provided by the hotel employee and concierge Tomaz Kosir (sorry if a misspelled). It took him a great effort, obviously, as he appeared in his fancy dress from the old medieval times, not to mention what he was carrying (please see the photo attached). We successfully caught his Wednesday performance. He was entertaining us well and we recommend his tour to everyone, his furr and feather collection was awesome. The best was the start, from the terrace of the hotel, offering fairy tale views over Bled and surrounding area, thus making introduction of Bled from where it start - medieval period. Meals provided were up to our expectations, so this was ok, staff there as well. Overall, it was a very good stay for a couple of nights.…
We stayed at hotel for a couple of nights, and the we had half board (breakfast and dinner). The hotel has a limited free parking (I pre-reserved it) and it is placed 3 minutes walk from the lake Bled. The food and stuff was good which was expected for a 4-star hotel. Good value for money.
Our family of four - 2 adults and 2 girls - enjoyed every aspect of staying here. Rooms were compact, small up to european standards. Food was ok, breakfast and dinner we both enjoyed, our opinion was that cook must have had a good day, 2 out of 3 occasions some buffet selection was delicious.. Both our rooms were upgraded to the lake view rooms, which is highly appreciated due to the friendly fornt desk staff. Nothing to say against. Hotel is organising free medieval walking tours by hotel concierge Tomaz Kosir, thus presenting cultural and historical heritage of the region and Slovenia as well. We received lots of interesting information among some really cool and spicy and funny facts. We would stay here again and we recommend this place to any.
