The stay on the basement level was generally a good one in an 8-bed dorm room spacious enough to move around (with also a "long table" in the middle), and yes the bathroom (ensuite) came with like a nice-sized area of sinks & mirrors; and the "common area" on the main floor is also a pretty nice hangout area (although just in the dining room of that area briefly during my 2-night stay). And as for the convenience of food & some other essentials, there's a "small-but-well-stocked" grocery shop just across the street, then to the right and just about a 5-minute walk is a Vietnamese restaurant (for my "main meals" with a "nice variety" of delicious items to choose from), then about another 5-minute walk after that restaurant is a McDonald's (for breakfasts during my stay). And also not having to walk too far from this hostel by going the same way to the McDonald's as just mentioned followed by a right turn and for about another 15-minute walk is a straight way to the Castle Square & the Royal Castle (a "great interior" of both a palace & a museum for a worthwhile visit). …
Too much politics... I understand that we need to help refugees. However the manager turned this hostel from hospitality business into political propaganda means. Some receptionists wear badges with one country flag, etc.. The only thing the hostel did not yet is painting its building into the one country flag colors. People come here from multiple countries, they might have different political views.. That's why the business should stay out of politics. When I asked the reception lady why does she wear a badge with a flag of one country, she told me a lot of bad things about my motherland. Interestingly, she has never been in Ukraine or in Russia personally. I am ok that business should help war refugees. However I am not ok with staff making political propaganda. People come here from different countries and the business should stay out of politics. I spoke with guests from Ukraine in the hostel and they were much more polite than the receptionist . Though I need to admit: most other administrators at the reception overall were nice and friendly.…
The general cleanliness was very good. And their availability was constant. But it stops there. One of the shower stalls ( one out of the two on our floor) wouldn’t drain. Quite disgusting. No internet for nearly every hour we were there (more than 24). In their advertising they should have made it clearer that the rooms were by default coed. Even though they were advertised as economical, the prices were very high due to an Ed Sheeren concert but it was not worth the $52/person per night. It was very hot also; they needed to invest in ceiling fans or other types of cooling mechanisms.
No lift...I use a cane and had to walk up 3 flights of stairs. And the shared bathroom was on the second floor! So if you are an older person who needs to get up to pee at night ask for a room on the first or second floor! It was hot and I had to keep window open. Lots of street noise. But the front desk staff was pleasant and there was free coffee. It was very clean.
Booked three nights to stay in a double room with private bathroom with my boyfriend. We didn't expect much, but couldn't really find a nice place in Warsaw anyway, so we chose to book it. Turned out a mistake. We stayed 10 minutes, I asked if we could change the room 'cause our room was not quite as presented on Booking. It was run down, had three single beds (not one double bed as expected) bathroom stank of chlorine and was moldy literally all over. Hallway looks like prison, so does the building from the outside. A change of rooms was not possible, because they were fully booked. When we checked out the lady at the reception tried to call the manager, But didn't reach him, to ask if she could offer us a refund. No answer so far (1day +) and I don't expect anything tbh. Do yourself a favor and don't go there. 10€ more and you can have a sparkling clean apartment somewhere else in Warsaw!…
Stayed 2 nights here, it's good value for money. Kitchen is well equipped. The big public bathroom was clean. The only downside is the bed is not comfy at all and generated lots of squeaky sounds when you move. Walkable distance to attractions and restaurants.
I hadn't stayed in a hostel in a long time, and I'm happy to say that Tatamka Hostel made me a huge hostel fan again. Special shoutout to Basia, Adam, and Kamil who were awesome employees and helped me out so much! I had a private room which was really nice, & I loved the community atmosphere. Everything had homey, comfy vibes and the breakfast was an easy, cheap way to kick off the mornings. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone coming to Warsaw!
Good option in Warsaw. Very well located, just few blocks from Nowy Swiat, so you can easily walk to Stare Miastro, Kopernic Museum, some Mleczny bars (cheap and good local food), and get bus to train station and the airport. There is a grocery and coffee just in front of. The staff is really friendly and helpful. I should highline the quality of the matress. we stayed in a twin room, which was very good. excelent choice!
We only paid 10 euro per person and coming from Denmark, that’s super cheap so we were stoked. Pros : a reasonable sized room which has pretty fun interior that housed 3 of us. The bathroom is of reasonable size and a good functioning shower. The room, sheets and shower were clean. The hostel in general was pretty quiet in the night. The staff at check in are pretty nice and even recommended a local place to eat Periogi! Hostel is located in a prime location! The room had a small balcony so plenty of fresh air and view. They have free tea and coffee all day round. My friend used their common area microwave to heat up her breakfast. They have breakfast but we didn’t pay for it. Small convenient store right across. 24hour reception so you can come and go whenever you’d like, hallelujah! Cons : not major cons but things you might want to know :) The towel they provide is super small ; more like a large hand towel - not big enough to wrap yourself so if size matters ;-) not enough room or hooks or such in the room or the bathroom. The building looks old and kinda creepy from outside but don’t get scared :) Overall : I’d highly recommend this hostel especially for a group. Please note this review is only for the room I stayed in which was a ‘private bath and group of 3’ option for a day ( we were mostly out sigh seeing) and 1 night. …
POSitive: Very helpful and solution oriented staff. Definitely a nice location. A good communal area with a big kitchen. I recommend their tasty and varied breakfast. There is an excellent and very peaceful garden where you can enjoy your coffee, beer, cigarets etc. NEGative: I booked 2 beds in a 8-bed-room at this hostel with one of my Polish friends who is going to come the next day. I arrived there app. at 2 pm, the room was not ready yet and I waited for almost 3 hours at the communal area. They said that they changed their cleaning lady a few days ago and she's still cleaning the room etc. Even though it was VERY late check-in and I was totally tired, it was ok for me. But I was shocked, disappointed and also angry when I saw the old, uncared room, dirty bed sheets. I don't even talk about the bathroom in the room, better call it an artificial pool because of the broken shower tap and that musty smell in the bathroom with many very big & dead spiders everywhere on the floor. I appreciate how perfect the cleaning lady did her job! I went to the reception directly without putting my staff to the room. She was so kind and helpful, she apologized and upgraded our room to a 4 bed-room which is quite clean and more comfortable. So never book a 8 dorm room!…
