Cannot begin to describe this small, fullymodernized yet quaint hotel steps from the Vistula River. The room I had reserved was very reasonably priced, and the only one of it's kind with a walkway into a separate sitting room and a birds-eye view of the river. It was comfortable and clean as well as totally unique. A tour of the rest of the hotel showed beautifully laid out event rooms...great place for a destination wedding!! The restaurant was charming and the food outstanding. They are known for their grilled meats and dinner of steak was outstanding. Their buffet breakfasts, included in the room price, left nothing to be desired including individually made crepes and omelettes. Torun itself is a magical place and SO glad I took Rick Steve's advice and included it on our trip between Warsaw and Poznan. The train station is a 3 minute cab ride away. Must see attractions: the Gingerbread Museum, Copernicus House/Museum, Cathedral of the two St. Johns, Town Hall Museum, Planetarium, Teutonic Knight's Castle Ruins, Leaning Tower, ride on the riverboat, stroll through streets of Old Town. Perfect locale for children....new Children's Theater a few blocks away.

We stayed 2 nights in Spichrz, dined there both nights, and returned for more later that week. Why did we come back? In short - the food, friendly service, beautiful interior, and general atmosphere. The hotel is built into the old medieval city wall which runs alongside the grand Vistula river. It really is the perfect location to stay when in Torun, with the city centre and main market square 3-4 minutes walk away, and the picturesque river promenade less than a minute from the door. Parking at the hotel is very limited (space for 4-5 vehicles), so be sure to reserve a spot in advance of arrival if you have a car. The first and most obvious feature is the interior of this hotel - solid wood and stone of the historical structure merged with a modern reception area and stairs. The various antiques and stuffed animals around the hallways and dining areas really add to the character of the building. The rooms are clean and sufficient in amenities, although some a little small and tight. However they match the overall character of the hotel, and are away from any external noise. The little gingerbreads on the pillows each morning was a nice touch! When booking, ask for a room with a view of the river. Dining at the hotel is great for group dinners with friends or family, but equally as suitable for couples. Each night we spent there, a traditional Polish music trio played in the background which really added to the overall ambiance. The service staff were very helpful and friendly, most of whom spoke English (which we really appreciated). If you like steak you should definitely try one here, along with one of their own style vodka cocktails. The menus offers various other Polish style dishes, including a metre-long kielbasa (Polish sausage)! Breakfast has a much calmer atmosphere, offering a full spread both Polish-style and continental. Try some pancakes which are made right before you :) Overall points to note: - Perfect location - Limited parking - Very charming traditional interior - Great dining ambiance - Delicious food and drinks - Friendly staff

The property itself is lovely with shiny interiors and fun art decorating the hallways. I reserved a twin room (not my usual pick but may have been the only room available.) Our room was awkwardly laid out, the shower very small, and exposed pipes near the TV gurgled during the night making it difficult to sleep. Our room did not have air conditioning though other rooms may. The room itself was a good value - especially considering the quality of the breakfast. The staff was helpful and professional and the breakfast outstanding. We liked many things about the hotel but suggest being careful when booking your room choice. The restaurant is a great option for a meal - we celebrated my husband's birthday there and enjoyed it very much!

My three days visit to Toruń and time spent in this hotel are just coming to an end so it’s a good time to express my opinion about this stunning place. The hotel is simply great - located in a sympathetically converted granary it enjoys a beautiful prime place on the banks of Vistula river and right next to impressive Old Town ramparts. The whole building oozes with character. I’ve stayed in a double studio, which is comfortable, spacious and clean as well as very well equipped with practically everything one would expect from a good class hotel. Mine also had wonderful view of the river. There is a good traditional Polish restaurant on the ground floor, serving tasty breakfast and also open for lunch and dinner. Service is efficient and helpful. This is simply a place I’d recommend to everyone who is planning to visit Toruń - one of the most charming cities in Poland. Officially rated as a 3 star hotel, it certainly deserves an extra one and that’s why I am giving it top rating on Tripadvisor!

We chose the Spichrz hotel for our weekend in Torun because it looked quite charming and quaint on the internet, and we were not disappointed. The hotel is just inside the wall, and it's full of carved wooden statues, and many items made of clay. There is lots of beautiful wooden details, a very nice restaurant, and even a pool table for guests to use. Our room had a king size bed, a nice size bathroom, and had a charm all its own. Our room faced that water, which was a great view. Breakfast at the hotel was a treat with made to order egg dishes and all sorts of salads, cereals, yogurts and more. All in all, it was a great hotel with so much charm and personality it's a must see and experience.
