This hotel delivers after almost 110 years. Splendid location near Fabryzna train station. Interior is a bit worn but beds are comfortable and bath is modern. Breakfast was perfectly acceptable. When did you last stay in a room previously occupied by Russian businessmen, Nazi officers, Communist politruks?
My friend and I meant to spend one night at the Savoy hotel on Saturday 24th Feb. We had our stay pre- booked. We arrived a bit earlier ( around 11am) and found out we can check in at 12 the earliest. We asked the lady in he reception if we could wait in the lobby, as we were tired after a long journey and just wanted to wait some time. Unfortunately the lady, without apologising, refused to accommodate our needs, saying, " Lobby is the place to wait for a taxi only, you can't just sit there...". Taking into consideration we were the guests, I found it extremely rude and unprofessional. We had said thank you and left, not returning back. The company lost two potential customers just because the person who sat in the reception was incompetent enough not to care for the hotel's good name and the guests themselves. Poor hospitality and very disappointing interpersonal skills...…
Hotel is located in the heart of Lodz, a minute by walk to Piotrkowska street. It is very old hotel, over 100 years old. Rooms are very basic and all looks old however price for a stay was very attractive and I will take into consideration this place while travelling business.
Parking outside can be a problem as it is in a pedestrian type zone. But if you can find a place it us free. Hotel receptionist could speak English which was helpful. A gent operates the lift for you. The room was fine and bathroom clean. More of an older style decor hotel.
Built at the beginning of the 19th century this hotel is tired but feels comfortable and homelike. It has a manned lift to all floors! The rooms are tall and spacious newly decorated in keeping with the art Deco style (see photo). The ensuite washroom has a powerful shower and the beds are comfortable. Considering the price, the Savoy offers great value for money. Breakfast can be ordered by the day and consists of a continental type which didn't change throughout our say. Would recommend for people on a budget.
