A decent hotel, but it still amazes me that a city of Lublin's size has yet to be granted a five star. Where to start with the Grand. First off, great location, five mins from the old town. No prob checking in early, either, which was nice consdering the roaring hangover going on in my head. So, the bad news first. Double bed actually turned out to be two singles squeezed together. Interent connection erratic. Bar was rented out for the whole night by a private party so were banished to the naff looking cafe on the 1st floor. bit more noise insulation would be handy. Dreadful service in the bar downstairs - as in really, really bad. Breakfast, the 'hot' bites were actually cold - no excuse for not being able to keep sausages warm. Restaurant way overpriced. Lifts - considering

Lublin in November was cold, snowy and miserable but our stay at the Grand Hotel Lublinianka was anything but! Though we had an "economy" room (third floor - but with an elevator, skylights and only tiny windows, shower, only - no bathtub), the hotel was the highlight of our visit. The staff was great and very helpful, even in English; the room was modern and very clean with great beds and bedding and very nice wine and beer glasses provided in the room - we bought our wine at a store and brought it back to the room. The breakfast was fantastic (with the best coffee we'd had since arriving in Poland 2 months ago) - as was the light dinner we ate in the hotel cafe one night because the weather was so bad we didn't want to go out. To top it all off, the Turkish bath was

Stayed there for 2 nights. It was just a 3 star hotel. The halls were so dark at night that we would take a flashlight with us. It also had a foul smell in the halls that we could not identify. The location of the hotel was fine though.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights 2-5 Sept 2005 after reading the Trip Advisor review below. It was a wise choice to cancel the reservation at the Mercure Hotel, which is 1 Km to the west and a much longer walk to restaurants and shops. The other centrally located hotel is the Europa (not featured yet in Trip Advisor) while the Victoria Hotel - also new looking - lies between Centre and the railway station 3 to 4 Kms to the south on the city outskirts. Grand is aptly named - a converted rather imposing building facing grass square and in the main road leadng to old town. Ceilings are high and it is very spacious inside. Bar and café/restaurant each look out onto street. Friendly, helpful staff. Room 115 had two, not very firm, beds, was large but felt a little cramped

I've just returned from a stay in Lublin, Poland, at the Grand Hotel Lublinianka. It's in a former bank and was completely renovated a couple of years ago, and is now a great place for international travellers to stay. My room was on the top floor, built into the roof so there was no view as such but the room was spotless, spacious and to a high standard – and with air conditioning. Staff in the reception and the bar spoke good english. Best of all was the location, based on the main town street and less than 400 yards from all the cafes, bars and restaurants. The breakfast was an acceptable buffet. Yes, it did have the feel of four star hotels the world over but the grand building gives it a character and there is a very laid back atmosphere. I thought the hotel was excellent
