Probably the best refuge in Karkonosze of those i have used with decent rooms and good food and beverages. By far the best to recommend for both proximity to trails and the town, picturesque setting and friendly service

A lot of our hiking-friends recommended Samotnia for the night after a long day of hiking. It was an incredibly beautiful and tiring hike of 28km from Szklarska Poreba (there are a lot of trails, also shorter ones), but it was worth it to get to rest at Samotnia. The hostel is not too big, but very clean, and there...

Samotnia shelter is one of mountain inns located on a way to Sniezka peak, 1.5 hour walk up from town parking. It faces beautiful pond surrounded by mountains which offers you a unique view if there is no fog. Rooms are quite basic, usually just two beds, cupboard, sink and a merrirow. Toilets and showers could be found in a...

The refuge is on the banks of a mountain lake, surrounded by cliffs of a small glacial cirque. You can walk in an hour and a half. The kitchen is rustic, as in every shelter, but there is a decent selection and the dishes are good. If you want to sleep it is better to book the room.

I've been there couple of years ago during the summer. The atmosphere, the air, the food, the low prices, the lake just outside of the building, the scenery reminding of the one from Lord of The Rings... I'm absolutely in love. I will be back for sure.

First time I visit Samotnia I knew this will be my stomping ground in Poland and I will be here very often. This place have very unique character and air around it. Even if you are visiting Samotnia for the first time for some reason you feel like you would be visiting a house of an old friend. Everyone is...

The most magical place in Poland! Wonderful food, great atmosphere, a trip back in time in a good sense. The location is splendid with mountains overlooking the lake. Great for hiking, various trails in the area - easy ones even for small kids and those for more experienced hikers.

This lodge is situated on a splendid location. The meals were very good; just what you need after a walk of 20 km through the mountains. The sanitary is collective, but clean. However, the beds were dreadful: very hard and extremely old and worn out. The mattresses were connected to the bed. And...we had unexpected guests in our beds: the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Samotnia is one of the oldest mountain refuges in Poland. It is famous for its tourist-friendly atmosphere, wooden interiors and home-made dishes. It is located within the Karkonosze National Park, the reason a tourist can reach Samotnia only on foot. Hikers may leave their cars at a secure car park in Karpacz at, for instance, Hotel Sadyba. The refuge is situated halfway between Karpacz and Mt. Snieżka.Samotnia is a property belonging to the Polish Country Lovers' Association (PTTK). It has 50 beds and offers both full- and half-board. It is a great place for wedding receptions, post-graduate meetings, domestic celebrations as well as cultural and sporting competitions.
