The host, Mr Tadeusz is very kind, always helps, respond very quickly to emails or phonecalls. We arrived once very late and there was no problem. He gave us a lot of tips for the first-timers in Zakopane.
The location is perfect for walkers. You have about 7 minutes walk to Watra bus stop from where you can get to Kuźnice. Other trails are quite near - e. i. Dolina Białego, Sarnia Skała. There is also one big and some smaller shops around. The street is very quiet and you can park your car in the yard (without additional costs).
I also really recommend a Czarci Jar restaurant. It is very close to Willa and gives some great food (especially trout).
We will definitely come back to Zakopane and the first place where we would ask for accomodation is Willa Dewajtis.
Dziękujemy i mamy nadzieję do zobaczenia!
The location is excellent, with a short walk (5 minutes) to the town centre for restaurants and shopping, and 5 minutes the other way to immediately be on trail in the national park, or a similar walk to a bus stop to head to many other locations in the Tatras to start your hikes. There is parking on site too, and access to the property is easy with key fobs for access.
Oh, and there are always comfy slippers available for guests provided for free, to slip your sore feet into after a long day's trekking!
This was my (third? fourth?) stay here, and it's been excellent every time, and I would always recommend this to friends.
What sold it for me was the consideration the owner took to make sure we were all sorted during our very short trip. Though we arrived late in the evening, the owner took the time from his evening to tell us how we could get the bus from either down the road or from the train station which lead to the parking lot of where we wanted to hike from. He drew us the route on the maps which was very handy. He also advised us we should go early as the hike we planned to take could get very touristy plus we should walk a little extra up the mountain for beautiful views of the lake below. Furthermore, at half 6 the next morning, the gentleman kindly made a takeaway coffee for my boyfriend to take away. We were taken a back at the care and consideration shown...we definitely haven't received this in any other hotel we have stayed in during our month long travel across Europe.
We have kept a card of the hotel on hand and will most definitely be staying here again on our next visit to the beautiful town of Zakopane!!
Krupowki (the charming restaurant/shop/entertainment street) is a ten minute walk away. So are hiking trails. The bus station is a 20 minute walk away.
What really made the stay amazing was Mr. Tadeusz, the owner. He allowed us to check in early and since there was no booking for our room for the next day he let us keep our luggage in the room while we were skiing all day until 7pm! We weren't forced to check out!
He also gave us advice on the best things to do given the little time we had and the weather conditions. We went on a lovely, snowy hike on the first day and saw some frozen waterfalls, and then went skiing the next day to Polana Szymoszkowa. He gave us great directions, lent us maps, recommended restaurants, lent us a discount card for a 10z deposit card that we used extensively on Krupowki restaurants and our ski pass (ended up saving over 50 zs with the card!). Because of Mr. Tadeusz we had a very eventful and fun weekend that would not have otherwise been as activity-filled! He even told us what time the next bus to Krakow was and then called us a decently-priced cab (the ones by the bus station are SO expensive!)
Tips: You don't need towels, they are provided. You might need soap/shampoo/body wash, as between how much we showered we were running low haha
From the moment we arrived, Ted welcomed us into his home explained all about the Willa even providing us with a pair of new slippers for use indoors.
He gave recommendations of where to try for food and drink along with suggesting places of interest to vist. I had penned a few places to look out for before we travelled and he went through all of those giving us directions.
We had an apartment at the top of the house which had a private balcony looking up to the mountains and it was cold but nice to stand with a coffee in the mornings and take in the wonderful view.
The location for us was ideal, a 10 minute walk to the town centre and a further 10 minutes to the Bus station (We walked there for both arrival and departure)
You are also a 10 minute walk in the opposite direction to the Mountains with the Ski Jump and Ice Labyrinth, both of which we enjoyed.
I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it. A word of caution to those less mobile. In the winter months the back roads to the Willa can get quite icy
Fantastic stay!!
