We arrived at the hotel quite late after a two hour delayed flight. We were looking forward to a comfortable bed and a cup of tea. The man on reception said we were too late to purchase any milk from a local shop, however he would bring us some. This was very welcome and having a kettle and fridge in the room it meant that we were able to have a cup of tea or coffee whenever we wanted. Plus there was a couple of bottles of complimentary water also. We had booked a double room and as on previous reviews it was in fact two singles pushed together with two separate duvets. This wasn’t really an issue for us. The bed was fairly comfortable with spotless bedding. The room and bathroom were also spotless and nicely decorated, with complimentary shower gel etc. there is a free safe and ample space to put your clothes. The hotel is fairly close to the centre of old town and is about 10 mins walk. Breakfast was included and served in the lovely dining room overlooking the beautiful rear garden. The food was well presented and a reasonable choice. We managed to find at least something to eat. However for us whilst not expecting an English breakfast, as we were in Poland and therefore it is reasonable to be offered a Polish style breakfast, we did feel that it would have been nice to have at least had a toaster, so we could have toast. This is the only hotel we have ever stayed at, that did not offer a toaster. Because of this we chose not to bother with breakfast on our last day. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel stored our luggage for us after our checkout. This is at 12.00 noon and we felt that was a really good bonus. Checkout is usually much earlier and you tend to feel rushed to leave in the morning of your last day. Overall this hotel is a small little gem of a hotel in a quiet area. Clean and comfortable, with friendly staff and we would definitely recommend it to others. We had a lovely holiday in Krakow.…
There is a large outside parking lot which was important to us. The location was a 10 minute walk to the top of Old Town. Longer walk to castle. Rooms were clean. Building is full of plants and art sculptures. Only down side was our room on the street side where there was major construction… seemed weird because the hotel was not very full.
So,we stayed here very recently and don't be fooled by the photographs you see on their website, there's quite a few things the place chooses not to show. That said,we were allowed to check in about an hour early and the Receptionist was really helpful. Bags dropped off in the room at 1430 then off to enjoy some time in the garden,or so we thought. The rear garden is accessible through the dining room, and we were met with a young girl who looked us up and down then informed us that the garden was closed from 3pm as they has to clean the dining room - so a garden you aren't allowed to sit in from 3pm onwards at any time of year. Were we offered a drink? no chance. Anyway,we sat in the garden until 4pm whether the staff liked it or not, after all,I had paid to stay there. Don't expect anything to eat in the evening unless you want to pay about £80 for a taster menu without drinks. Room was about adequate but very clean, however only expect one sachet of tea and coffee and one tiny sachet of powdered milk. 2 bottles of water in the room and an empty mini fridge. Breakfast was ok but don't anticipate a menu or fried eggs and bacon. You'll be ok if you like a bun for breakfast but don't expect any croissants. The rest is mainly Polish fayre. Fair enough. Coffee is out of an urn. No toaster. Apparently, that only comes out on weekends. Piano music is piped through the speaker system which strangely gives the establishment a depressing feel and sets you up for the day in the wrong frame of mind. Dining room staff looked like they didn't want to be there. On a positive note, the girl on the desk at checkout was lovely so a big, thank you to her. As for returning, never again. Oh,and the garden is overlooked by flats, some with what looked like discarded sofas on the balcony.…
The entire location is beautiful, very nice decorations, personnel, music, garden, interiors. The room was very comfy, clean, enough for 2 people. The bathroom was big, well organized, modern and clean. You cand make your own coffee or tea within your room, using cattle and products at your disposal. The price is very good for such a great location. We walked 10 min. to Central Square.
A friend recommended this hotel and I'm so glad I went with it. About 10 minute walk from the Old Town and also convenient for the station, the hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff were super friendly. We had a ground floor room (just to the left of the main entrance), so there was a bit of noise but nothing that caused great disturbance. Being able to have breakfast in the lovely garden was a bonus. Thoroughly recommend!
The Art & Garden Residence is a beautifully restored hotel using a combination of eclectic art pieces and cleverly upcycled IKEA style furniture creating a truly unique boutique hotel. The garden at the rear of the property is well kept and a peaceful place to enjoy a morning coffee or breakfast if the internal restaurant space is full. Unfortunately, it closes to residents at 3pm. Just a 10-minute walk from the most northerly point of the old town we found this a great location away from the business of the main tourist area. We booked a double room with air conditioning via British Airways Executive Club utilising Avios points we’d collected during our recent travels and the room information was reflected on our booking voucher. Unfortunately, we discovered there is a disparity between the hotels third party booking site amenities description and what is actually provided by the hotel. We arrived early afternoon, dumped our bags in the room and left for the evening, retuning after 11pm to discover our ‘double bed’ was actually two single beds of different heights and two single duvets that had been pushed together, there was also no air conditioning unit in the room, just a ceiling height air vent in the wall with no controls As it was late, we decided to leave it until the morning to speak with reception. Before leaving for a tour of Auschwitz early the following morning, I asked the girl on reception if all their double beds were constructed of two singles pushed together, she advised they weren’t, so I explained our experience and asked if we could be moved into a room with double bed at which point the male night porter rudely sighed heavily in an inconvenienced manner and said ‘you’ve got a double bed, what’s the problem?’ Truly taken aback by his unprofessional response, I explained that we didn’t have a double bed we had two uncomfortable singles which considering we hadn’t booked a twin room we’d appreciate being moved into a double for the remaining two nights of our stay. The night porter rudely continued with his huffing and puffing until I advised him that we would be leaving for a tour and will return early afternoon and would hope to return to a resolution as well as a fan, as despite having the windows open all night the room was a sweat box. We returned later to an apology from the young female receptionist and the key to a new room with a double bed and a portable fan. Breakfast is excellent, well presented, with good quality food and a great selection, my only negative would be the lack of coffee choice with only pre-made filter coffee from a large canteen style urn. The rooms are well presented, the bathrooms are immaculately clean, the shower hot and powerful and the toiletries sufficient. The downside is the walls of the rooms are very thin, and you can hear everything coming from your neighbours. There was no refresh of the bedroom services (tea/coffee sachets etc) apparently this is only available on request due to covid, it is disappointing they didn’t let us know this on arrival. On departure I spoke with the hotel Manager and explained that we were very disappointed in the behaviour and response from the night porter on the first morning, at which point I expected her to say, in a truly professional customer service manner that she was very sorry and that she hoped that it hadn’t affected the rest of our stay and that she hoped our new room was sufficient, which of course it was, but instead she seemed overly pleased to tell me that she already knew we were unhappy, that they had actually given us an upgrade from the ‘Classic Double Room’ to the twin room with two beds pushed together and that I should have been grateful because I had only paid for the ‘cheapest’ room and the ‘Classic Double Room’ which is the ‘cheapest room’ is out the back in the garden and despite what was showing on my booking voucher (that she didn’t want to look at) didn’t have air conditioning. It was obvious at this point where the night porter had gained his customer services skills from and considering how wonderful all the other staff had been during our stay a real shock that the two eldest members of staff we interacted with completely let the hotel and their team down. We weren’t initially upset about the bed situation, but we certainly were upset by the time we’d finished speaking with these two, it was all totally unnecessary and unavoidable and probably the worst example of customer services I’ve experienced in any hotel. From the barrage of ego-based justifications from the female Manager I established the following, the ‘Classic Double Room’ is on ground level out the back of the property in an annex, it is apparently noisy and is hot with no air conditioning which is why they try and move people out of it where they possibly can, even if this means moving to a completely inappropriate room. Do not book this room as it is clearly not fit for purpose and in booking this room you will also be considered ‘cheap’ by some of the staff, and they won’t mind repeatedly telling you. There is no ‘air conditioning’ as such in any of the rooms, instead there is an internal ventilation system in some of the rooms, there are no controls to this system and from our experience staying in the room with this ventilation system on the first night, it is not effective as we did not have a great night’s sleep being way too hot. They should but don’t provide fans in any of the rooms, if you are looking at staying in Krakow in hot weather book somewhere else or make sure you ask for a fan on arrival as the rooms are boiling, I dread to think what the attic rooms are like. Would we recommend this hotel? had we not have been spoken to in the way we had then probably yes, but unfortunately this display of poor behaviour when dealing with such a small issue would have me questioning how they would handle something serious, so on that basis, I would not. I did have to laugh to myself when the female Manager kept pointing out that we had only paid for the ‘cheapest room’, if only she knew, it was paid on Avios points, we didn’t pay a penny and I am glad we didn’t.…
So stayed here for 3 nights and on arrival the receptionist was very nice and we went up to our room dumped our stuff off and went exploring. When we arrived back later that night we went to go to bed only to find we had 2 single beds pushed together and 2 single quilts and no air con. When we booked we booked a double room with double bed. We spoke to reception in the morning about it and the night shift guy just rolled his eyes and said something like it was still a bed. Finally the day shift receptionist sorted it out and we got what we paid for. Now that aside the hotel itself is beautiful, rooms were spotlessly clean, really food showers and the breakfast is excellent. Location is good about a 15 minute stroll to the old town. I would recommend staying here but what I would say is check your room out first just to make sure it's the one you paid for …
3 days in Art & Garden were really amazing. Soft bed, clean rooms, fresh bed sheets, really tasty breakfasts, very friendly staff and GM. I need to write something else to reach 200 symbols, but just believe me - very-very nice hotel!!
Stayed at this small hotel whilst visiting a Ukrainian friend who is refus-gee nearby. I wasn’t looking for luxury as such for this trip, but was delighted with this hotel. The room was lovely, with a balcony too, Clean, decent bathroom, lovely bedding and painting above bed. Reception were very friendly and helpful too, lening me a charger for a phone that I didn’t have. Breakfast was also excellent, with nice choice and tasty food. Would definitely stay again .
The hotel has 3 stars, but the impression is far better! The room was lovely, the bathroom delicate and everywhere we went it was clean, clean, CLEAN - and it smelled nice! There was good quality of the bath products (it is a rare experience) and it was even thought of Kleenex, Q-tips and makeup mirrors - never experienced before. The balcony was spacious and a big plus for proper balcony furniture. The breakfast was lovely with good selection and young, cheerful waiters tidying up after you before you have time to think about it. The breakfast room overlooks a beautiful zen-inspired garden - recommend a trip there with a cup of coffee after breakfast. The staff at this hotel are especially service minded - everything is answered with a smile, they are nice, solution oriented and quick on their feet. Art & Garden Residence is highly recommended :-)…
