Get train to area where the shopping arcade is I think it is the last stop the journey is about 30 mins then walk through arcade into street and cross road and take tram to Kasimierz district takes about 15 mins. then exit out of tram turn left and take first right on the left there is a tourist booth and walk down behind that and that will take you into the main square where there are a few inexpensive Polish restaurants, avoid Klezmer food isn't that good and too expensive. Also as you walk through the shopping arcade when you leave the train there are lots of really cheap inexpensive places to eat.
