As many others, we had a significant quantity of travels and hotels booked when Corona struck. All reacted in a VERY customer-friendly manner, allowing to cancel without fees or to postpone our stay. That is, all - except one.: hotel Pod Wawelem. Even when our flights were canceled (and we had to make a very long trip by car), and even worse, when we were no longer allowed to travel out of our local region, they stubbornly refused and hid behind rules. I fully understand and empathize with the potential loss of income, but we were absolutely ready and proposing to postpone and book on a later date, but even that was refused. Pod Wawelem, you unfortunately stand out negatively between your worldwide colleagues. We will never return. A very unhappy lost customer.
I wasn't sure what to expect when we booked this hotel but it is well located, clean, good food, and helpful staff. Breakfast was all you could want if not more, and the roof terrace is a must do for sundowner drinks. Honestly couldn't fault it and would recommend to anyone.
We spent 4 days in Krakow during the storms and, despite the gales and sleet at times, we walked the beautiful city. This hotel is next to Wawel Castle and the river - views from the top bar/restaurant are worth seeing. There are parks to walk through to get to the Old Town and plenty of restaurants in the vicinty. The hotel was spotless - staff were very pleasant and obliging. We had buffet breakfasts ("typical" Polish scrambled eggs with ham and cheese and rye bread for me!) with a wide range of fruits, pastries and cheeses. I wish that they would provided pots of long life milk or even (awful) dairy creamer for the morning tea/coffee in our room but that's pretty well all I found lacking. I can drink black instant coffee but it isn't the best start to my day so I tended to just have a couple of cups of coffee at breakfast. The rooftop bar gave good service and we sat there having a drink and watching the howling gale try to blow open the big glass doors. There were big heaters set up and staff were laughing as they made sure all was safe. It was a good atmosphere. I would stay here again and it was a comfortable place to return to after a cold day out exploring a fascinating old city.…
My friend and I stayed at this lovely little hotel for 4 nights . I had contacted the hotel prior to our stay to say I was coeliac and required a gluten free breakfast. They assured me this was no problem and true to their word they had gluten free cereal gluten free bread and lots of other options for my breakfast. They organised our trips for us and even made me a gluten free pack lunch for a trip with an early pick up. They were so kind and helpful. The hotel is clean and comfortable and has a jacuzzi steam room and pre bookable massage which was excellent. The hotel is a few minutes stroll from old town Krakow with amazing bars restaurants shops and a little market. Spaghetti restaurant was lovely as was the restaurant adjoined to our hotel. We did salt mine tour which was amazing and auszwich and birkeau museum the Jewish quarter and schlinders factory. St Mary’s basilica , the cathedral wawel castle and so much more . Definitely one of our favourite cities. Barter with the horse and carriage as the offer you cheaper price from 300 zlotty to 200 zlotty to get a fare . Beautiful place. We had a wonderful time and loved our hotel …
We stayed for the second time in this hotel. And to be perfectly honest I can't fault it at all. The room was cleaned everyday, the staff are always polite helpful and pleasant. They even gave me extra bedding.... Not that the room was cold but the fact I have a severe back problem and the extra duvet helped immensely. Nothing was a problem for them. Loved the lights on the balcony outside the room. Views were amazing. We went for a weekend break but wished we had stayed longer like the first trip to the hotel. We will ALWAYS stay at Hotel Pod Wawelem when visiting Krakow. it's the best.
