We stayed here in Sept of 2019 for 5 nights and nothing but fond memories. The room was immaculate, the hotel was very beautiful, and the staff was out of this world helpful and accommodating. You are very close to the Market Square (Cloth Hall) and within walking distance to most everything (Wawel Castle, Planty, etc).
We had a wonderful stay in this charming hotel, small but beautifully decorated room with everything that you needed. Lovely helpful staff who all spoke very good English. The breakfast was nice but not amazing. Clean towels and linen every day. I think the only thing that disappointed us was the fact it was very warm which meant we needed to have our windows open at night as there was no air conditioning and our room was at the front of the hotel. The noise outside was quite loud, bottles being emptied at 2am in a bin awoken by crashing of bottles! Also lots of people outside talking quite late at night. Fortunately I had ear plugs. Otherwise lovely and we would go back.
We were disappointed when we arrived as the Hotel is very dark and some of the carpets have seen better days. The view from the room was terrible (see photo) and the air conditioning was not working correctly, and when mentioned to reception we were told it was an "on-going issue." The bathroom was fine but many of the tiles were chipped....and the Toilets next to the restaurant were not clean and I don't think the floor had ever been washed. Having said that, the staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful and the position of the Hotel is just perfect for walking around the Old City. It is good value for money but definitely NOT 5 star.
This is a very friendly hotel in a perfect location for exploring the old town and the nearby Kazimierz. The reception staff were helpful with booking taxis and restaurants. There is a lovely library bar lined with books and wood panelling. It's a great place for an evening beer before exploring night time Krakow. Breakfast is quite a spread - limited hot food, but a great choice of cold platters. We had quite a small room at the back of the hotel. It was very quiet. The staff could not have been more helpful.
Everything about the hotel was excellent: service, breakfast, unique antique furnishings in each room, quiet but convenient location. Highly recommended! The hotel's restaurant is excellent, but, oddly, nobody seems to eat there, except at breakfast. We had the restaurant to ourselves one night for dinner, enjoying authentic Polish food. Hotel guests must assume that the dozens of restaurants on the main square must be better, but the hotel restaurant was excellent.
Simply perfect. Outstanding location in Old Town, but also just removed enough (maybe 400m) from the mayhem at 2am. The staff was awesome- each more friendly and accommodating than the one before. The room was spacious for a single traveler room and the bed super comfortable. Can’t recommend it enough.
I’ve nothing but praise for the friendly and efficient staff here. They booked restaurants, arranged airport transfers and taxis for me, so my trip ran smoothly. The hotel is situated in a perfect location in the old town. Only a few minutes walk to the central square, but in a quiet location in a cul de sac and adjacent to the park that runs inside the old city walls. My room 309 on the top floor was decorated in an eclectic Chinese style. Though it was a bit unusual and in some ways slightly old fashioned, the amenities were good as was cleanliness. No air con, but proper windows that could be opened, so it didn’t get too warm. Well stocked beverage tray, easy to use safe and plenty of storage. I only found Eastern European programmes on the large tv, not a problem though. The…
Hotel Grodek is in a perfect location for a tourist visit to Krakow. It’s on the edge of the Old Town, but on a small, quiet street facing the strip of park land that rings the Old Town. The hotel’s kitchen serves good food and offers a great drink selection. The hotel has a lovely library bar and nice terrace seating with food and drink service. The level of service is excellent. However, rooms can get a little too hot in summer.
Hotel Grodek claims to be a 5-star hotel, so it has to be said at the outset that it does not have the appearance or amenities you'd expect from a 5-star hotel: It's a little tired looking, our rooms were not large and contained only an electric jug with instant coffee/tea sachets and not coffee machines as you'd imagine, the TV showed only Polish stations and did not pick up a single foreign-language channel, there wasn't much of a view from anywhere, and the offerings in the breakfast buffet were distinctly ordinary. However, having said that, this is still a charming and very comfortable hotel to stay at. For a start, the location is excellent, in a quiet side street but just a short walk from the main square in the Old Town. Our rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable…
