The Balthazar Design Hotel is located at ul. Grodzka at the foot of the Wawel Castle. It is opposite the church of St. Marcin and near the baroque church of St. Peter and Paul, in a beautifully restored tenement house from the 19th century. This hotel has no equal equivalent in its category. The charmingly designed and equipped interiors with attention to detail bring to mind New York or London boutique hotels, in which the eclecticism of design, the very best materials, a palette of colours and tasteful details create an atmosphere of particular chic and luxury. A unique feast for the eyes. The hotel is located on the Royal Route, next to the Wawel Hill, a few hundred meters from the Main Market Square.

From the moment I booked through to departure this hotel continued to wow me! The hotel arranged for a very professional pick up at the airport where the driver walked us right to the door. Even with it being a pedestrian street he want to make sure we got there. We checked into a beautiful room, spotlessly clean with welcome drinks and Fantastic amenities which included a great coffee machine. The hotel assisted us with restaurant bookings, we decided as things where so good at the hotel we would try all the affiliates, Mama Mia, The Spagetti, Bianca, Wiesel and the beautiful restaurant at our hotel, each and everyone of them displayed the same superb levels of service. The hotel helped book our trips and arranged transportation which again was an exceptional standard. The food in the fine dining restaurant was absolutely epic! Whoever is the manager of this fine group needs an honorary medal for the epic levels of staff training and service we received! The best way to describe this fantastic team is “no is never their first response” this is the epitome of seven star 🌟 service! Well done guys see you soon I hope!

This hotel is fantastic. The rooms are spacious. have lots of character, and very clean. All the staff are lovely and friendly, in particular, Hector, who looked after our room daily. We would love to return and miss it already. We also must mention the restaurant, which is also amazing

The rooms have real character. There are individual paintings in each room - some distinctly bizarre. The service is good. A receptionist always seems to be available and helpful. The location is good - between the top sights of Wawel Castle and the main square. The only reason I don't give it five stars is the lack of a good long view. The receptionist tried to get the best one she could but we had to look sideways to see it. The breakfast is a little eccentric and rather expensive so we gave it up after the first morning.

With all the lockdown restrictions in force for most of EU travelling. I cancelled my original trip to Spain with friends and decided I would go to Poland on a solo travel. Always wanted to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau and the Salt mines. So had a good scour through the local hotels in Kraków and found this absolute gem. Essentially the hotel is what my title describes. For a solo traveller or couples , this hotel is perfect. LOCATION : It’s enough of a distance away from the main square that you don’t have any of the main centre noise. Yet it’s literally 5 minutes on the dot to walk there. Even then you aren’t in the middle of nowhere. As soon as you walk out the main entrance there’s a beautiful historic church right in front of you. 20 seconds further up there’s either a woman signing operatic pieces or a man on the violin. So accompanying your stroll to centre are some lovely sights and traditional buskers. PRICE: This hotel is on the upper end of the price range , but you’re paying for 5star quality so I can’t complain to much. Overall 4 nights stay without breakfast was £460. You can find cheaper throughout Kraków but it’s all preference really. HYGIENE: This is genuinely the cleanest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. You expect this quality anyway but given Covid-19 it was reassuring to come back every afternoon to find my room completely clean, tidy , fresh towels and as pictured online. Looked a new untouched room each time I came back. STAFF: Honestly as a solo traveller you can sometimes feel isolated. So it was a very lovely experience each time I returned from my day or night excursions to find a member of staff stopping and engaging in a conversation to how I was, how my day had been, along with offering advice on other activities you could do. But this wasn’t forced, all staff were genuinely engaging and wanted to know about your day. Just very relaxed and this is honestly one of the main reasons I’ll be returning because I just felt completely at ease and looked after here. RESTAURANT: If you fancy a burger and chips seek another restaurant for the evening. The restaurant at the Balthazar is a gastronomy restaurant of sorts. Very posh , very much an experience instead of a “stuff your face”. Wonderful if you want to be wined and dined and I must say very affordable. I was expecting an £80 bill on my lap. I had 4 servings with 2 beers including starter , Main and desert. All came to £28! Can’t complain there. CRITICISMS: My only gripes about the entire stay at the hotel was there was no bar to accompany to the restaurant. Sometimes I like to get ready on a night out and a have a quick beer before leaving the hotel. As beautiful as the restaurant is , would have been nice to see a bar to have a quick drink before heading out. Secondly if you stay in a room overlooking the public walking area be aware of any loud characters that may be using the way to walk home. Only had one issue with waking up and it was a Saturday night so can’t complain too much. If you’re easily woken request an inner facing room or a castle view which is located around the back. Lastly, I don’t think this hotel would be ideal for a large family who will be spending a lot of time in the hotel. This place as beautiful as it is, is more of a “drop your bags in and head straight out” kind of place. OVERALL: My stay here was nothing short of perfect. Wonderful staff , excellent location 5 minutes walk from centre along beautiful architecture roads and buildings , affordable for a 5 star and made me feel right at home at somewhere I’ve never even been to. Great for solo or couples and if you fancy feeling posh for the night , head to the restaurant. Will be heading back here in November. Definitely recommended.

We are delight to see such an amazing review from you.As a team, we do our best to make our Guests feel special. We are happy that we can exceed your expectations. Because of the location in a historical building in a heart of the old town we don't have enough space for a bar.
