We booked this very special boutique hotel after reading the reviews. The ease of booking was followed by timely pre-visit responses to our questions. The actual stay was fabulous in so many ways. This may be my longest review yet. Arriving by train from Warsaw, we were greeted, literally on the platform, as we departed the train, by the hotel arranged transfer. The person meeting us was wonderful, including providing us with a mini tour of sorts on the way to the hotel. It seemed even before we crossed the threshold that Charles had warmly invited us into the Balthazar. He, too, was wonderful, in so many ways, least of which were restaurant recommendations. Our room was very nice, warm, inviting and incredibly functional. We had stayed at lovely hotels in Gdańsk and Warsaw, but Balthazar Design subtly integrates accoutrements missing in the other hotels. How nice to have wall hooks upon entry in addition to a spacious closet. How nice to have shelving in the bathroom with plenty of space for toiletries and then some. How nice to have a towel bar at the sink on which to hang hand towels. Operator controlled heated bathroom floors, 2 way opening windows. Welcoming (full size) bottles of water, amaretto biscotti treats and caramels. The bed is very comfortable, with a fabulous oversized upholstered head board. Lighting is plentiful, with lighting level options galore, easily controlled on either side of the headboard. Charging outlets located on both sides of the bed, and then some. Breakfast is scrumptious, served in a lovely seating area. Croissants and breads baked just right. A wonderful 3 tier tray option with cheeses and vegetables and fruits and meats, and quite plentiful. A yummy, very full sized glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. There are also several warm offerings - fried eggs with house made sausage, omelettes, eggs Benedict, pancakes and more. Last, but far from the least, is the wonderful staff. With their wonderful attitudes and service, I have to believe the management sets the tone, Thank you, Aleksandre. Dear Katarzyna, who was always there to help in any way. Always pleasant and service focused Marcin, Lazia and Nicole, holding up the overnight shift. Smiling Paulina in the restaurant. And the piece de resistance? We had an early flight, 4:30 am transfer from the hotel. We were each bestowed with a full bag of goodies upon our departure - fresh yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, croissants, pastries, and water. Need I say more….…
