I lived for 8 months in Mariacka 13 apartments. Mariacka 13 apartments are in the center of the city, precisely in Mariacka 13. A street full of locals and people. Those who come to live in Katowice will often spend their evenings in this street. The location of the apartments is therefore excellent. Here ends all that is positive has the structure. The cost of monthly rent is very high compared to the average rent in Katowice for a studio apartment with private bathroom. The property had a LOT of problems that were struggling to be resolved by owner Robert Osinski (who is the new owner so be careful because one year ago the owner was different). Among the major ones I remember the internet that didn't even work to download a 5MB pdf file. The problem was then relatively solved after months. Another problem I personally had concerns the shower drain: my shower took an average of two minutes because the drain did not work. I requested to fix it but they couldn't. So I asked to give me another room and at first they asked me for extra money to be able to change it. They changed their attitude to the threat that I would leave the building, allowing me to do it. What then happened concerns a "misunderstanding" on the part of ALL of us tenants regarding taxes: at the time of the rent, the intermediary who managed the rent said "taxes are included". However, this was not the case: on the contract it was written that what was paid for the taxes in the rent was only an advance on the taxes. In short, at the end of the contract we found ourselves having to pay in addition between € 100 and € 350 more based on how much OWN FLOOR had spent. So if your neighbor had used gas continuously, YOU will be obliged to pay gas for him too because there is no system that counts the gas for each room. Personally, I found myself paying € 350 in taxes (in addition to € 200 included in the rent which, as I said, served as an advance for taxes) for the 4 winter months. The homeowner went on to say that this all happened due to the increase in the price of gas, but I want to point out that NO OTHER person I know who lived in another building in Katowice had to pay that much for the gas. To conclude, the attitude of Robert Osinski, the owner, is absolutely negative and fortunately you will never meet him. I had to deal with him in the last month of accommodation, when unfortunately, due to the disproportionate price of the bills, I had to ask to end the contract for ONE MONTH before the final date. He was denied me and kicked me out of the house before the penultimate month ended, with a cold shower on the last day (he turned off the gas). In short, if you decide to choose this structure I can only wish you good luck.…
I have been stayed in wygodnie spanie for 5 months(Erasmus) I really enjoyed the house. Amazing furnitures, everything clean. The landlord is a good and honest person. Hope to see you again Gregor! Best place to spend some time in Katowice.
Very central location has also its downside - this place is located on a busy street with very vivid night life. There is no aircondition there, cigarette smoke and noise until 3 am doesn't allow to keep the window open. So it gets very warm in the room but it's not so important since one can't sleep anyway (sarcasm) due to noises coming from the bars located downstairs. At 0245am some drunk people began ringing the intercom by the entrance, hoping that if they continue for 25 min some guest (me?) will wake up and let them in... The room wasn't cleaned. There were plenty of long brown hair on the floor in front of the mirror. Spots on the toilet edge... Quite disgusting. That's wh I don't recommend this place. I was grossed out and sleepy (stayed Thursday - Saturday there).
After going through the old wooden front door, into the cold dark entrance hall and up the creeky wooden steps, we arrived into a modern, well lit and comfortable apartment complex. It’s a prime location, right on the pub and restaurant strip of Mariacka street. The host is friendly and the rooms comfortable and warm. A great spot from which to explore Katowice and surrounds.
Me and a friend stayed one night at this hotel. the entrance of the building seems rather old, but the rooms are renewed, celan and tidy. the people working at the hotel helped us for a problem. we first reserved 3 people, but one of our friend could not come, we requested to stay at a room for 2 people and pay for 2 of us, and they accepted, we paid for 2... the hotel is very close to the train station and the main square of the city( only 600 metres )
