We were totally charmed and delighted by this amazing place in the depths of the Polish countryside. It's a fantastic restoration of a wonderful old farmhouse and all the furniture and fittings really add to the appealing atmosphere of open fires and cosy wooden rooms. The hosts are very welcoming, the food is excellent and the rooms are all delightful. The only minor complaint I would have is that the bedding was slightly below top level. It would be nice to have the option of a double duvet although I know these are not popular on the continent. But this is a very minor issue in an otherwise superlative experience. We boated on the lake and swam in it. Went for walks in the delightful area around. It's very beautiful and much less touristy than Masuria for example. Don't trust SatNav to get there. It directed us down a VERY small dirt track in the middle of the woods at 11pm at night. Scary! But we will definitely go back as soon as possible. One of the most convivial guesthouses I have ever stayed in.

Jaczno is one of those places, I love to return to. For me – a real magic spot, therefore a little difficult to provide you with a “cold” and objective picture of the place. I am a true believer here, you need to decide, if you want to become one as well. Give it a try…

I have been to Gościniec Jaczno a couple of times during the last five years: for extended weekends, summer vacations, etc. Recently, just spent one week with my two kids of their winter school break. What makes me go there again and again? Well, let me think...

First of all, the location. I believe, I am not exaggerating when saying that Jaczno is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled places, I have ever seen in my entire life. Located in the heart of Suwalszczyzna region, and also within Suwałki Landscape Park, which is a special environmental protection area. If you would like to swim in lakes with no one but you around, if you would like to walk through real wilderness, watch animals in their natural environment - this is the place to visit. Hańcza, the deepest lake in Poland, is just around the corner. And so is Wodziłki, the little village of Russian Orthodox Old Believers, hidden between hills and lakes. Those are just a few places worth to visit by walk, bike or half an hour car drive.

Being located so much in the nature and off the bitten trucks has its (little!) price to pay. If want to visit you need to plan in advance (especially if you are not based in Poland). It takes four or five hour drive from Warsaw and it is worth the effort.

Secondly – the people. Jaczno gathers very interesting characters, so you never get bored. The place somehow does not attract those, who are focused on self marketing and advertising themselves, while on holiday. One the contrary, the place offers very informal, casual atmosphere. You can leave all your daily routines behind and truly relax. At same time, there are always some people hanging in the bar during evenings to discuss various – often, very sophisticated – topics.

Thirdly, the venue. Simple but definitely not basic. The place, you feel good and enjoy (I am sure, the roots of the owners related to architecture and design helped a lot there). A great combination of stone and wood, sourcing the best Polish tradition and very well integrated into the surrounding environment. Perhaps the smallest double rooms are slightly too basic but the bigger doubles and - definitely - the apartments are really nicely made - well design, pretty large and comfortable. And if you would like to be really on your own – choose the Fisherman House. I have just spent there a week (in winter!), heating the whole thing with a wooden stove – I loved it and so did my two kids.

When talking about kids, Jaczno offers kayaking or boat trips on its lake. There is also a small playground for your little ones. You can also cycle around, walk, run and go for a day excursions by whatever means of transport you chose. Your kids can also run after the owners cat or dog and surely they will be tired enough to go to bed early, leaving you an opportunity to explore the bar on your own.

Another strong point about Jaczno is their food. Always fresh, many of their products coming from local producers (such as famous Swiss man, who moved to Suwalszczyzna many years again from his home country, producing or rather “handcrafting” very good cheeses in his own farm nearby). There is one clear threat though – you are very unlikely to lose weight during your stay.

You may ask, are there any weak points about the place. Well, of course, there are. It is not that close to any major airport and it takes four to five hours drive from Warsaw. There is no Spa nor heated swimming pool. There are no clubs, pubs, shopping centers nearby. Some of the TV sets in the rooms are quite outdated and the mobile phone coverage signal can be quite bad there (there is WIFI though, if you really need to stay online). So, if you are looking for those kind of activities and attractions, under no circumstances you should choose Jaczno for your short escape of longer holiday break. For all the others – do try it and you won’t be disappointed. Perhaps, after going to Jaczno, your life will never be the same again... 

I echo other reviewers who describe Suwałki as being way out in the Polish countryside far from anything, almost on the Lithuanian border; the countryside is really beautiful; we explored it by biking (they have cross-country bikes), wonderful rowing (or kayaking) on the lake, and a great walk all the way around lake Jaczne (2 hours,) at which time we saw no one but a couple of farmers, a fox, a few cranes and lots of photographic scenery. The rooms are delightfully rustic and comfortable with surprisingly high-speed internet (12 MB/s!), and absolutely silent all night.
The food is a little idiosyncratic in that they serve a full meal at 2-4 in the afternoon and then a lighter buffet at night, though lots of choices and plenty to eat - smoked fish, quiche, pierogi. And of course a typical polish breakfast spread. The staff are pleasant but reserved. When we learnt that they don't take Visa on leaving, the owner said no problem at all - just wire the balance when you get home. She wasn't in the least concerned. All in all a very peaceful and relaxing visit to an off the beaten track part of Poland.

This is definitely my favorite weekend spot in Poland. Jaczno is located quietly on a private penninsula on idyllic and scenic Jaczno lake between hills and forrests. The hotel has rustical decor. Rooms are very clean, cosy and comfortable, but do not expect 5-star design. The bar and restaurant is located in main building. The food at the restaurant is delicious. The variety of products is big and everything is fresh, good quality and mostly regional. The manager of the hotel takes care of the guests, always find a minute to ask how do you feel and recommend things to do or places to see. The hotel also has: direct access to the lake, molo, traditional sauna, billard, badminton/ valleyball court, moutainbikes and yawl.

Gosciniec Jaczno is a wonderful family-owned agrotourism site that allows you to escape from the modern world. It is located down a dirt road (be prepared for ruts should the weather be bad) on Lake Jaczno and is entirely self-contained. A substantial breakfast was included in the rate and you could also have lunch and dinner in their dining room. Lunch is very substantial and dinner consists of local smoked meats, cheeses, and a variety of other items. Our room was large and very private; the only complaint was the lack of black-out curtains, which can be an issue when the sun rises at 0400. There is a fitness room as well as a sauna, and you can take the rowboats out on the lake. Only one of the people at the inn spoke English, but his was quite good. They make some of their own liqueurs, which are very tasty, and if you ask nicely they'll allow you to purchase some to take away. There is a large common area with a fireplace that is perfect for reading or playing games during inclement weather, and they have a pool table as well. The resident dog is very friendly and followed us around as we wandered the property. If I could return to this place every weekend, I would do so.

We stayed here several years ago with our three young children, on the recommendation of friends who had lived in Warsaw. After a long and interesting train journey from Krakow, the lodge was like an oasis of calm and beauty.

The staff in particular are wonderful and made our holiday. Truly superb people.

We have often talked of going back one day and these pictures make me determined to do so. A gem.

After several km of dirt roads - navigated using Galileo app - we came across the beautiful guest house looking out over a lake - delicious local food - and big apartments - great for a family. One tip - don't turn right out from the guest house - the track is steep and impassable!

A cosy and home-like place. Elegant and in good taste, but without any pretentiousness. With simple and good food. By an absolutely clean, malachite green lake. A friend of mine, a busy one, when I took her there, told me that it was the first time she was doing noting without any sense of guilt - and that's probably the best summary of how one feels there.
