    Comfotable city hotel
Nice hotel with friendly staff, situated at walking distance (10 min) from the old city center. Our room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was good. There was public parking (paid) in front of the hotel.

Perfect location, comfortable rooms and great staff - thank you Bartosz!
This was my second trip to Olsztyn (4 years apart) and this time, during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 crisis. Normally, I stay in very simple, cheap hotels, but this time, I wanted a bit of extra reassurance and the Hotel Dyplomat had some of the best ratings in town, so despite 747 PLN/£154.91 for a 3 night stay being well above my usual price point for Poland, I had no hesitation in paying it for peace of mind. I was here for an outdoor summer concert at the beautiful Olsztyn Amfiteatr and was arriving by train from Warsaw . The hotel is equidistant between the main railway station and the concert venue - less than a 15 minute walk in each direction, so very convenient. Bartosz welcomed me on reception and was so happy and cheerful, he left a lasting impression and I skipped up to room 208 with a smile on my face because he was so genuinely nice. I was delighted with my room. It was inward facing which meant I didn't need to worry about any street noise, even though the street the hotel resides on is very quiet anyway. There is some construction going on (July/August 2020) but as I had no intention of spending my days sitting in my room listening to the sound of cranes and drills, this was of no concern to me. The bed was so comfortable, there was a GOOD fan (much needed as it was 31C when I left Warsaw and although Olsztyn was cooler, it more than made up for the lack of aircon). Tea/coffee making facilities, plenty of sockets to charge my devices, a large, well-lit bathroom, a powerful shower, lots of immaculately clean fluffy white towels, a large tv with a decent mix of channels. The only slight negative was that the toilet didn't have the greatest flush and due to COVID-19, there was no housekeeping/cleaning throughout my stay. Normally, this would be a plus for me as I don't like anyone entering my room when I am in a hotel at the best of times, but I feel like the hotel should have provided extra provisions to make up for the lack of housekeeping, like an extra toilet roll or an extra few bottles of complimentary mineral water. Breakfast was ok, I felt like it was much better at the weekends (again, due to COVID, I accept that things may be different to normal but I found that the week day mornings were quite basic/poor and the weekends were a full on banquet!) I slept perfectly during my stay here, everything felt very comfortable and safe, the hotel was quiet, I barely saw any other guests except for a few at breakfast. I must mention Bartosz again as he really helped me out printing out my boarding pass and concert ticket and called my room when it was ready. Just first class service - such a lovely guy. I would have absolutely no hesitation in staying at Hotel Dyplomat again, in fact, it would be my first choice. Keep up the great work!

Lovely hotel. Had 4th floor penthouse-type suite. Large wall of windows provided beautiful view but allowed sun to beat in. Room was quite warm when we arrived so we tried to turn on air conditioning. Had trouble setting it we so tried to get assistance from desk. She refused to help until we asked to speak with supervisor. She did finally come up and turn it on. It helped somewhat but was obviously not sufficient for the room as it was just tolerable after running all night. Luckily it was early in the season with temps. 80ish for high. Breakfast was the typical large European buffet and very good. Dinners of whitefish and chicken were excellent and waitress was very attentive and friendly. The rest of the staff had an "I just work here" attitude.

Very presentable hotel about ten minutes walk from the railway station. Friendly and efficient check-in, room very comfortable, well furnished and heated. Seat covers were a little worn in contrast to everything else, perhaps on purpose? Slept well and the breakfast was excellent in a striking basement location, plenty of choice including six hot options.

We were in town for a wedding and we had the Russian Suite and it was beaUtiful. It had two bathrooms and a balcony, a spacious living area and a nice big bed - and air conditioning, which was a win because you would not believe how hot it was! Other wedding guests (we were the only guests staying at this hotel) were not lucky enough to have the same. The wedding was on a lake some 10km away. Location-wise, it is in a somewhat dead part of a generally sleepy town, however, only a ten minute walk from the lovely old town (maybe less? The sort of distance which would be embarrassing to take a taxi) which has a number of places to look at, eat, drink, and gather with friends. Re the staff - it’s a lucky dip, really. Some receptionists were a bit serious, severe, stern - not overly friendly but as a British citizen, you have to remember not rude - just not warm. On the other hand, you had absolute treasures - Adriana on the front desk extremely friendly and warm, always a smile, and Robert at the bar - very friendly, good humoured and warm, gentle presence. I would return here, and I would advise others to stay here but don’t overthink it - it’s a different country and a small town - it’s not California and you won’t get glitter and wide grins, you’ll get gentle professional warmth and a low key homecoming so enjoy it for what it is - grand, traditional, understated.
