A lovely little hotel in a nice location in Gdansk. We really liked the main staircase of the building - impressive. The room was on a small side but it was perfect for our short stay. It had everything we needed and was clean and tidy. The value for money was amazing. Staff were very pleasant and we enjoyed our stay.

Perfect hotel in the perfect location. We had a deluxe room and it's worth the little extra money it cost (we paid £51 via booking.com 4 months prior) in comparison to the basic room. We had a double bed, mini bar that was topped up daily with beer, vodka, Coke, orange juice, water and pretzels. A huge round bath, robe and slippers. Check in smooth even if it was a 7 hour delay in airport and a 2.30am unexpected check in time! All staff super friendly. Didn't have breakfast although the attached restaurant did look lovely. All in a a real good stay and a good choice as it was 2 min walk to cafes, supermarket, Costa coffee. And one street down to the start of Dulga main square Street.

Fantastic hotel. Close to both the major shopping centre and just on the edge of the old town. Really nice rooms, little outdated but all you need. We communicated with the staff before hand about the room as we were booking in on 25th December. No problem. All perfect. we came they checked us in within minutes and we were in the room in 5 minutes. the staff very nice, room was cleaned on time every time and genuinely nothing to complain about. Free water each day and tea and coffee. 1 day we stayed in late, they came asked us what we needed, took the garbage and off they went. No fuss no stress just perfect. 100% recommend the hotel and would also stay again. Well done great place.

I will have to disagree with most of the negative reviews. Only big downside to this hotel is the lack of air conditioning. Oh, well, and I did not try the breakfast, as there are plenty of options to eat close-by, so cannot speak of it. Except for that, it is a lovely old building, clean, spacious and with a great bed, friendly staff, excellent location.

Gdansk is renowned for it’s delightful amber jewelry and in the museum can be seen insects sealed eons ago in resin and thus now perfectly preserved in amber. The Hotel Wolne Miasto right in the heart of Gdansk’s Old Town is nowhere near as old but revisiting it after an absence of over three years evoked the term “frozen in aspic”. I keep returning to this modest but superbly located 3 star hotel precisely because everything is so close to hand. This time though the thought struck me as I entered the hotel room that the lighting was so dim as to verge on parsimonious. Furniture, fittings and fabrics all unchanged since I first stayed there probably over 20 years ago, the dark woods and heavy reds a little reminiscent of the style prevalent in the communist era. With experience of similarly priced hotels in the city on previous visits when WM had no vacancies, what struck me most was the absence of tea/coffee making facilities, although two small bottles of water were provided. At the price I was paying for a 4 night stay, surely the initial capital cost of a kettle and some china plus beverage sachets would not be outlandish? An unkind soul might mutter that this business is a cash cow where the only modernization that has taken place is in the bathrooms – these are on a par with 4 star hotels I must say. The staff are friendly enough and the hotel is clean but to me there seems to be a soul missing. The pictures on the walls evoking the Gdansk of over 100 years ago have never been changed and there are now a few slightly threadbare patches on the plush carpet winding its way up the grand spiral staircase. The term faded glory comes to mind, but I don’t think the hotel ever enjoyed such a period since it was rebuilt after the devastation inflicted by the Russians on the city at the end of the war. During the communist era, the hotel was probably considered luxurious but times change and the current 3 star rating is possibly a little on the generous side. Please note that all the aforegoing are my own subjective reflections on the hotel and should be taken as somewhat melancholy observations and not criticism. The only negative points I would actually make is that in the mansard room I was staying in I could – as I lay in bed – hear loud voices in the neighbouring room, and my lightly tapping on the wall indicated that this was not solid. Also, although there is a lift to the main floors, there is just inside the entrance an annoying little “ pit “ which must restrict access for the disabled or inconvenience those with mobility issues. I cannot imagine that great expenditure would be necessary to level this area. I will more than likely return to the hotel in the future, but it would be wonderful if some of my observations could be taken on board.

I love this hotel, it is my favorite hotel in Gdansk. It is close to almost everything. It is however near a Nightclub so the nighttime can be active. The service and the housekeeping are so Nice and accommodating. The breakfastbuffet was Nice and alternative. The hotel is clean and neat. Blowdryer, robes, slippers, extra pillows and towels are on the room. A hotel I have been at before and Will definitely be at again.

This hotel has one of the best locations for a cheap hotel in Gdansk. It's very clean and the rooms are very cozy. It's all kept in a old looking kind of style. The staff are very helpful, and everyone here speaks English. I would recommend this hotel to anybody.

Incredibly well located hotel right at the top of Old Town; trains, trams and buses all within a five minute walk. All of the main attractions within walking distance and plenty of food and drink options on your doorstep. Big spacious rooms with good bathrooms. As others have said, the noise can be quite loud as it’s located next to a night club and on our first night we had to ask move to a different room. However the receptionist was lovely and did it without fuss so could not have asked for more. We did not have breakfast so can’t comment but was a good stay and would definitely stay again if ever in Gdańsk

Ideally located for Old Town etc... easy check in with friendly helpful staff, the deluxe rooms are spacious with gowns and a free mini bar stocked with beer, vodka, juice, water and pretzels, a nice touch for the cost of the rooms. Comfy bed. Breakfast was standard fare, buffet style with hot selection, omelettes and bacon and polish sausages with a selection of cheeses, cold meat etc... more than adequate. Good location some nice touches, welcoming helpful and friendly staff, would definitely stay again. Only negative if in room.facing the street is the noise well in to the early morning which will upset those travellers wanting an early night.
