We stayed two nights in the hotel and our overall experience was not satisfactory. The location of the hotel is very good as you need 2-3 minutes to the old town. Unfortunately, this was our worse stay in Novotel from around 20 cities. The breakfast was below average. The first Novotel (family) hotel that does not offer cream for children. Apart from that, there was plenty of choices for adults, including various salads, sausages, fish. The room was standard Novotel. However, the toiletries are too strong because they made our skin dry. We did not have such experience in other Accor hotels. The worse experience was with the XBOX. We asked at night at 9pm to play on the XBOX, but we were told that the controllers were broken a week ago. However, the next day in the next morning at 8am, we saw other kids playing on the XBOX. To be honest, we used other facility - ping pong. Finally, this is the first Novotel that charged us for a parking in front of the hotel. I would expect that all hotels from the same brand have similar offers. Indeed, we were told that we got a discount. This is my third stay in Gdansk and I selected Novotel this time as I went on a private visit with a family. To be honest, I will not select again this Novotel, but rather stay in IBIS in Gdansk, where I had a very good stay.

Generally this Novotel is good. The staff were excellent throughout, answering all questions. The rooms are a little tired but generally OK. The biggest negative was that the mattress is Room 328 is completely worn out and needs replacing. The breakfast was good and fresh, plenty of choice. In the ironing room little jugs to refill the water in the irons were missing, but I managed to refill one using a cup. In terms of location, it is OK not amazing but OK. Its quite far from any of the train stations, but tram stops are a few minutes walk away.

Located in the center you are well positioned to explore the city on foot. The building itself is old, and even the lobby, bar and restaurant area has been updated, you still get the feel of the old orbis days. Corridors are a bit gloomy and smells of food in the evening, which extends to the room. Room is of good size, and clearly shows its age. There is a coffeemaker, safe, fridge, aircon. Wifi was reliable and stabile. Tv selection is quite small, most in polish. Bed needs new matrasses, pillows comfy. Lack of sockets. Bathroom with shower cabin, good waterpressure. Soap dispensers (ran out during my stay) weak ventilation. Water provided. There is no "do not disturb" sign in the room, so asked for cleaning when leaving the room as I needed to work and relax when coming back. Nothing happened. Old school orbis :-) Breakfast served from 530am was fresh and delish. Servers very friendly and serviceminded. Will be in Gdansk a lot during the next months, unfortunately this hotel will probably not be my choice .

Location We arrived at the hotel after our short hop over from Norway. The property is located a mere 3 to 5 minute walk from the Old Town and is perfect for exploring the beautiful city of Gdansk. Room In the room you will find a large bed, a little sofa, a flatscreen tv, a work desk with a chair, a minibar, tea and coffee making facilities and a wardrobe with hangers with lots of space to put your belongings. The bed was a bit too soft to my liking but other than that pretty good to sleep in. The bathroom was of adequate size. The water pressure was good in both sink and shower. There was, however, a bit of a funny smell from the water in the sink and my eyes reacted and got red every time. But it went over after a few minutes. Maybe it was caused by some chemical to clean the water, I don't know. Both room and bathroom show signs of aging but both maintenance and cleaning seem to be on top of things here. The water bottles and tea and coffee making facilities were replenished every day which was nice. At check-in we were informed that there was no daily cleaning unless we let the front desk know that cleaning was desired. We didn't bother during our 5 day stay. We appreciate Novotels efforts to a more environmental running of their business. Other than our room we did not use any of the hotels facilities, apart from a few coffees ordered at the bar. The Novotel is very family friendly and has both a big outside area for kids to play and special family parking spots right in front of the hotel, very good. Staff The staff at check-in did a seamless and efficient job of checking us in. They were quite friendly but not the most welcoming I have encountered. Staff at the bar were very friendly. Check out was a let down. Grumpy front desk agent who tried to be friendly but failed miserably. I have myself worked in hotels both in Europe, the Far East and South East Asia. I can honestly say that I would expect more from staff working for the Accor Group. Maybe a bit of staff training and motivational training might be in place for certain members of the staff. Once I asked a staff how to get to the Galeria Baltyka (one of the biggest shopping centers in Gdansk). He was not able to give us any advice regarding transportation nor directions whatsoever. Maybe this certain someone should find himself a different occupation than working in the Hospitality business. I can not remember being treated so poorly by any staff member of any hotel before. Verdict The location is top, the room is ok and good enough but not for 1000 Norwegian Kroner pluss and the staff was average at best. Would I stay here again or recommend this property? Probably not!
