It has been over two years since I had been in Olomouc due Covid but the Clarion Hotel has not changed, The food is superb, the staff friendly and the rooms everything you could want and particularly a huge deep bath which I love. Their rates are extremely reasonable. Olomouc is a delightful city and not far from the famous Tremesna Osoblaha narrow gauge Steam Railway which is fantastic and also worth a visit. The Ceske Drahy steam depot in Olomouc is also worth a visit.
A great hotel, very nice breakfast and very helpful, polite front office staff. Additional next to the train station, and public transportation. Gives the opportunity to visit many places as museums, restaurants and shops.
The Best Hotel in Olomouc. This is a superbly run hotel, ideally located opposite the Main Station. The rooms are spacious and have everything one could ask for. The staff go out of their way to help and the food is excellent. The price is very reasonable by European standards. I highly recommend ti.
Checked in late after 9pm but the staff was quick and efficient. Pleasantly surprised to get a fruit basket in the room too and was truly appreciated. The hotel is directly across the train station but we took the flixbus from Krakow, then walked from the bus station about 15min leisurely stroll. Room was clean and the twin beds comfortable. Bathroom is large by the European standards. Got a couple of English channels too. As I'm a light sleeper the noise from the outside/train station was quite noticeable. But overall a nice stay for our quick trip to olomouc.
Great location. Our room was large with a view of the railway station. Even though the room faced the road, it was super quiet. The bed was comfortable with two big and two small pillows. There were two chairs in the room and a work area. The shower worked well and had plenty of hot water. Wifi connection was good. Breakfast buffet had lots of choices and was good. Monika, at the front desk, speaks very good English. Any questions we had, she was able to give us answers. Very helpful and appreciated. Old town is about a twenty minute walk.
Primarily business hotel immediately opposite the railway station which was what we needed as it was a railway stopover for us. Unusually quite a pleasant area around the station ! We walked into the old town in 20 mins but there were also frequent trams. Lady on reception very helpful. Twin room was spacious and well appointed but bathroom cramped with toilet behind the door ! Very slow wi-fi. Breakfast satisfactory but nothing remarkable.
Attended the hotel slightly early and spoke with the receptionist. I asked if we could have the room early to be told that entry was at 2... No come or go on this and in fact the room was probably ready however, she was not interested in explaining the reasons for not considering letting us in early (bearing in mind we have a 3 year old tired after the journey - an explanation of the room is still being cleaned would have done). We got the card to the room at the book in time 1359hrs... 1 minute early and the place was actually quite nice. On returning home from the town I went to the small bar at reception as the lights were on. Sat waiting on service and the lights went off... I asked at reception if the bar was closed at which point they advised it had closed (I reminded the 2 girls that it would have been polite to advise instead of abruptly turning the lights off). I think it may be a Czech thing with how rude people are and I think it's due to the language barrier. They are happy to take the European inflated prices however, don't offer the co.mon decency of affording the international language to support this. We have enjoyed the Czech Republic although this hotel is a big brand and should not be operating in this manner. Rude staff, no common courtesy and generally unhelpful. Quite unhappy as we are here due to unfortunate personal reasons and could have done with a friendly face. When you find a restaurant or bar who are friendly it is a real game changer as the people have been amazing - it seems like the only issues we have are the people who cant be bothered trying a bit of English - We are trying to speak the local language where we can. Shame on you Clarion! …
Booked a Twin Room incl breakfast for 3 nights. The hotel is across from the train station so easy access for public transport users. Its a large multi storey modern hotel. We received a pleasant informative check in. Even though we arrived earlier than check in, our room was ready. We were allocated Room 806. There are 2 lifts serving the hotel. Your room card is needed to activated the lift. Our smallish room had a view overlooking the rail station and the Basilica Minor further on. The window is not openable but the air con is quiet and efficient. There is a long bench, 1 upright chair and an easy chair with a coffee table. Plenty of hanging space. The beds are comfortable and it is very quiet, so good for sleeping. coffee/tea making (not replenished), fully stocked mini bar, iron and board if so inclined, tv (did not turn on) and plenty of power points. Wifi is free and fast. The ensuite has a shower over the bath.. There is a drying rack which is always useful for the tourist. The decor is modern and non descript, both in the room and public areas. We had dinner the 1st night in the restaurant. Its located on the ground floor and is huge with little ambience and a small menu. We chose Risotto and Pasta. The taste held no wow factor, but served the purpose. Breakfast was also served in this area, & served buffet style. There is a large array of food on offer. Cereals, yogurt, the fresh fruit is welcome, cheeses and cold meats, salads, breads and pastries. The hot food is prepared in advance and kept warm in bain maries. We ate breakfast around 8am each day and there was plenty of food and plenty of choice to satisfy. The coffee machine produced good espresso, but the juices in jugs were like cordial the first morning, so did not try the subsequent mornings. We walked into the centre of Olomouc using both roads on different occasions depending on where we wanted to go and it took us about 25minutes. In the area, there is a supermarket, Albert, along the road a little and a bar and hamburger place further along as well as the food provided in the rail station. The bus station is at the train station so providing easy access to the Basilica and Zoo using Bus11. Trams also pull in here too. There is a cash machine in the lobby. We chose this hotel because it was near the train station. This hotel provides clean quiet accommodation with acceptable food. Overall we were happy with our choice, but no memorable experience…
I'm in the middle of a european trip and the Clarion is my 8th hotel. So far, it has the best value of all the hotels I've been to. If you come by train, it's right in front of the station and about a 20 minute walk from the old city. The room is large with a long work desk, a good size tv (32" I think), an ironing set, a quiet and effective a/c, good size bathroom with a nice bath/shower and they have the most comfortable bed so far (way better than Ibis). The breakfast in the huge restaurant (included in the price) has variety and they even keep the milk cold in a container, something I rarely see. The only reason I'm removing a star is because I also had dinner at this restaurant and they charged me 21% extra for my food and 15% for my drink, saying it's common to all restaurants in the Czech Republic, which is baloney. On top of it, they have the audacity to write at the bottom of the bill that tip is not included in the price! Say what!!? Overall I give it a very high recommendation, just don't go to their restaurant for dinner!…
I stayed here for two nights and loved my room, large, well furnished , a fine bathroom, minibar snd good wifi. Overlooking the railway, bus and tram station totally convenient for everything. Excellent tram route into centre, cheap, regular and fast in ten minutes. Breakfasts were very good with excellent choices. I ate in each evening in the Benaba restaurant. Not an extensive menu and not cheap but good service in the huge dining room which also caters for large groups.
