Where to start...I am presently staying at the hotel and can definitely say that it is not a 5 star hotel. If I would have to mention something positive: it's hotels central location. Otherwise the service is extremely poor I would even call it rude and rooms it depends on your luck and most probably receptionists personal dislikes or likes towards you. Rooms are spacious and in general ok but have to be chosen carefully for location and once again they are not a 5* level. Upon my early arrival (at 11:00 am) to the hotel the 1st contact already was very cold and I was told that I am way too early and I will not be registered. Even my driver who drove me from Prague told that he found the communication somehow rude. I said no problem I will wait. I asked the receptionist if I could get a coffee somewhere while waiting to which she answered "madam you are in a city center so you can go out of the hotel and you will get a coffee in a cafe"....I asked if I can get it at the hotel and the answer was "No, our restaurant is closed until 5pm." Well I already wondered if it's a normal communication tone in Barcelo hotels but well just specified that check in time starts at 2pm and went out to have my coffee and some lunch. I came back to the hotel around 1:30 pm and was waiting at the lobby for the check in. While I was waiting at the lobby one more guest has arrived and she was checked in straight away without any questions or hesitations directly offering a glass of sparkling wine etc. I really didn't understand what was my problem as the receptionist simply ignored me all the time. So I came up once again and asked how come I am waiting for my room but someone else got it directly by that time it was already around 13:50. And the receptionist once again says to me "We have just 2 maids so your room is still not prepared and will be ready in another 20min" which means not even at 2pm but later. At that point I got really upset and asked to speak to someone responsible. Suddenly the receptionist started to check me in...meanwhile the responsible came and was doing everything (picking up the phone, saying hello to someone passing by but not addressing to me) to avoid speaking with me and just when I told her that I would like to speak to her she told of course lets talk. The responsible listening to the situation said of course it's not normal "what we can do to make you up for this? do you have luggage we will bring luggage to your room" I am sorry but isn't it a little normal at 5* star hotel that you bring my luggage in the room especially that I was waiting for the room quite long? Cinically the responsible yet said that she is sure that they gave me a beautiful room and I will be very happy. So the executive room I've got was on the 2nd floor right on the road and was vibrating each time the tramway passed by. I had to ask once again to change the room to which the receptionist told she is not sure they have another. Just after I have contacted the reservation department for help they have found another room. Next morning the receptionist even didn't reply to my good morning which is rediciously unprofessional once again. In my numerous travels I did have sometimes different situations and issues at hotels but attitude as rude as at Barcelo Brno I have never seen in my tourism work experience nor travel experience. Sincerely I don't change the hotel this time just because there's no many options at the moment and my travel to Brno is for a matter which are more important than to stress myself but for the next time I come most probably whatever airbnb could be better than Barcelo Brno. For the rooms: the 2nd executive room I've got was to a quieter side so it's ok. Rooms are rather spacious, bed is ok but not extraordinary, sheets are not really good quality. Details like not properly functioning all the lights, stains on the curtains. Cleaning: I was absent in a room from 7:00am until 11:00am and from 12:00 until 14:00pm the room was not done had to ask for it. The girl who was cleaning the room was very efficient though. To sum up most probably the receptionist Zaneta has some personal dislike towards me which I think is really unprofessional to show it that obviously but the hotel is not a real international 5* star hotel, it's well located, rather clean but really really bad organisation and the worst customer service I have ever met. Rooms are more towards 4* as well.

Hotel's Favorite
Three people in my family had two stays at the Brno Palace in the space of a week. First, we had a one night stay after flying in from the US through Prague. We had a Family Suite which was two rooms--a large bedroom with a Queen bed and a sitting room with a sofa bed. The rooms, on the fourth floor, had an excellent view of Brno streets and Castle Spillberk. There were a few small issues (no sheet on the sofa bed mattress) but the suite was comfortable. We left for a few days of touring CZ and returned to a Family Suite on the fifth floor--a large "attic" room with high ceilings and skylights for daylight. The bedroom was very large and comfortable and the sitting room was well set up for a sleeper although we didn't use it since we were also given a single room next door. (Sign up for My Barcelo!). The hotel services are very good, particularly the excellent breakfast. The staff works hard to answer every question and help in any way they can. For example, no taxi drivers wanted to take us to the train station when we were leaving Brno so the porter was asked to drive us to the station without charge.

We stayed in the Barcelo hotel for two nights on a flying visit to Brno city. We’d heard so many good recommendations before, and we came over expecting something nice, but were completely wowed over at just how luxurious the hotel really was! For a 5 star hotel the prices are reasonable but they definitely don’t scrimp on standards! The receptionist was really kind and accommodating. We arrived a little earlier than the regular check in time, but we were very tired from an early flight. At a small cost they allowed us to check in a few hours earlier and ensured we had an equally beautiful and comfortable room, to the one we would have been allocated. Me and my husband slept soundly for 6 hours! The following evening we had food in their restaurant. Quiet, intimate, great service and food, it was delicious. Totally recommend this hotel and when we come back to Brno we will be staying again.

Hotel had everything you can expect from hotels on this level - from nice and friendly staff to perfect and clean rooms (we stayed in King suite which overcame our expectations). Breakfast with wide range of meals, fresh bread and cakes, fruit, coffee, tea, juice.... Everything you can dream of. Breathtaking lobby with a glass roof, sunny and airy. I heartily recommend!

maybe the best hotel staff and best hotel deal in 40 years of travel. The desk staff - Uliana, Eva, Adela, and Egor, were just outstanding. Always there, always with a smile, excellent english, managed to help us with every question we had, even a Covid test nightmare (not their fault). Can't compliment them highly enough. The hotel was perfect. Excellent location, steps from the park and old town. Didn't take advantage of the restaurant or massage but my wife had the breakfast, which we did not pay for in advance, and said it was very good. IT's right on a small Square Silingrovo, and has about a dozen parking spaces in front or right across the street. Park, run in, check in, and they'll park your car. That was the only dicey part but we were fortunate that there were always spaces. The room was modern, super clean, great A/C, great shower, two sinks, comfortable bed, spacious, windows opened if you want. Street was a bit noisy at night with windows open, but we used a/c and when we shut them it was quiet. Fantastic bargain too. let me throw in a word about Brno. I've been to CZ 4 times iuncluding before the revolution. We wanted to see something different than Prague (although Prague is ALL THAT). Brno was lots of fun. Yes, it is modern, but isn't squalid, not filled with factories and smokestacks, has a nice park and a greatold town with a good days worth (or more) of attractions. Some superb restaurants and bars/beer halls. We spent a day or two in Brno, and did day trips to Mikulov (wine region), MOravian Karst, Telc, and Trebic. Loved it. Yes, you could visit each of those areas separately and skip Brno, but Brno was a young dynamic city with lots of travelers. But the hotel was certainly a highlight. Just a footnote about the covid mess...we needed tests before returning to USA. They called, scheduled it, registered us, gave us necessary papers, and even coordinated a taxi. It went smooth as silk. I asked the people at the test site if it would be available to us by email, in Englsih and within 24h. They said yes. About 12h later at night I got emails that the test results were ready. All the emails were in Czech. When Iclicked on links, I needed to enter a username and password, neither of which I'd been told to create. Ultimately found that they were supposed to send me a text with a password. They never did. We went down to the desk the next morning (saturday, when we were leaving for Prague) and they sprang into action. Unfortunately, the test site was only open M-F. They were finally able to get a hold of someone, and several hours later got me a print of my result, but never got my wife's. Even the next day, we didn't get it, so we had to get one at the airport and pay a second fee. LIke I said, it wasn't the hotel's fault; they were super trying to help. Just be aware of this if you get a covid test in Brno. You may be just better off getting it done in the airport.
