Detailed Reviews
decent location right by the prague castle, and st. nicholas church. rooms were spacious and well appointed. however, i stayed in 2 different rooms, and both had rather different bathrooms. almost as if one had been renovated and the other not yet. there is no air conditioning, so it's kinda warm in the summer. no major complains

The Aureus Clavis was in an absolutely brilliant location, couldn't have been better! The hotel was quaint and lovely with excellent views across Prague. The room was clean and the breakfast/reception area was newly refurbished. There were a lot of stairs so not for those who dont like climbing! There was a quaint feel to the hotel, made it feel like home! staff were friendly. Lovely place to stay and very reasonable.

It's nice hotel, nice people and willing to inform us and help us, despite the fact they didnt speak english very well. The room was clean, view on the street, nice but nothing special inside. For us, it was perfect because we didnt need something more.
The location was really nice, not so crowded very close to the castle.

This is a very poor place in people dont feel comfortable. It is refurbished with old and smelly furniture beds included, guess they got it from some old flat house for eviction. Things which want to be artefacts in rooms and around are rubish. If you want to save money just dont go here.

The web site plus recommendations form New York Times ended up misleading us.
Plusses: location, larger room space than expected; apparently newer bathroom and a pretty good bed. Breakfast was included and it was pretty decent.
Negatives: large mold stain in room above entry door; no air conditioning; one DIM light over bathroom sink; toilet seat quite loose.
This hotel has great possibilities but "hasn't arrived".

My Niece and I made a trip to Prague and found this hotel online. It is a great location on a very historical street that leads to the Castle. We asked to change rooms as we were put on the 5th floor and the stairs were many. They switched us out no problem! If you are looking for an inexpensive, clean hotel with no frills, this is the place. I paid 200.00 US for 5 sights. The staff was terrific, the breakfast was nice and our room was large by European standards.
If your lookiing for luxury done't stay here..looking for clean and cheap this is your place!

I have visited Prague with my boyfriend and from the beginning we planed this trip to be a romantic one. So when I've found Aureus Clavis on TripAdvisor.com I knew that this will be the perfect hotel for us in Prague. And so it was! It is located on a beautiful street, just 5 minutes away from The Castle. The rooms are very romantic... Our room had street view, big bed, clean sheets and bathroom.
We first bought a 3 days ticket for the public transport but we didn't use it at all because the location is so good that you can walk from the hotel to all the must-see places. Carol's bridge is 10 minutes away, the old town is 15 minutes away... Very important: just outside the hotel, 3 m away is a very cheap shop where you can buy water and beer. The prices are with 1 euro cheaper that in the old town center.
The breakfast was in a nice little restaurant downstairs. The serve coffee, tea, milk, cheese, ham, butter, different types of bred, fruits, eggs etc. We also ate one day at the restaurant and the food was very good.
So I strongly recommend Aureus Clavis! It's the perfect hotel for Prague!

The Aureus Clavis is a delightful hotel on the somewhat steep hill that leads to Prague Castle. It is conveniently located in Mala Strana, and a short walk to Old Town and Charles Bridge. The rooms are spacious, beds and pillows comfortable, and the breakfast, included in the price, is quite delicious. The staff was very friendly and most helpful, as we were there during the volcano eruption and had to make many other arrangements. Tonci, the manager was very professional, and has made many innovations in this lovely hotel and went out of his way to help us.

This is a friendly and cosy hotel wonderfully located and within 5 mins walking distance of the all the main attractions. Plentiful continental breakfast with a cooked breakfast at little extra cost. The manager, Tonei Loncar and his staff were courteous and professional at all times. I will be returning to this hotel with my family later this year.
