My boyfriend and I stayed for three nights at Botel Matylda and would absolutely recommend it. The boat isn't big but with the charm that comes with age. The bathrooms are new, though. The restaurant (which is on the boat next door) serves a decent breakfast and excellent dinners.

The breakfast staff and some of the reception staff didn't really speak English and came across as a bit sullen (which appears to be a Czech thing, at least seen through the eyes of a Scandinavian). However, others among the reception staff, all the evening waiters and the lady who took us to the airport were all very friendly and warm and spoke English well. They helped make our stay a lovely one.

In terms of location, the botel is within walking distance of the Charles Bridge, the Old Town and the Castle. It is also close to restaurants, supermarkets etc. We got a room facing away from the waterfront and used ear plugs to get a good night's sleep due to traffic and party noice from the city. A waterfront room might have been better, but there's a noisy dam of sorts with roaring water on that side, so maybe not. In any case, we ended up being quite happy with our room. The air conditioning really made our day as well as it was 36 degrees celsius one day.

Oh, and the boat doesn't rock at all! I'd been a bit nervous that I'd be feeling seasick but it's completely still. :)

If you choose taxi to and from the airport, make sure to have Matylda book the taxi for you. Their rate is cheaper than the one you pay if you just pick a taxi on your own at the airport. (We tried both options to compare).

We went to Prague end of November as during this time it is my and my wife’s birthday and our anniversary. We popped in to see the staff on the Monday (my wife’s birthday), to book for the Thursday, our anniversary, but they said they were fully booked then. We could get a table later that evening so decided to do so. My wife explained it was her birthday and could they sort us out a table near the window overlooking the river. The waiter said they were busy, so unlikely. When we arrived they had sorted us a table and was a great view. The waiter was very attentive and the wine list was extensive. Having ordered a bottle the waiter uncorked it, checked it was ok, poured it into a decanter, aerated it and advised to let it stand for 30 mins to get the best out of it. He would regularly come around and top up our glasses for us. We like our wine, but not people who know too much about the subject, so this attention to detail was very much appreciated. The food, mainly Italian was amazing. Portions were decent to a point we couldn’t do dessert. The service was good throughout. As Prague goes, it was a bit pricey, but on a par with the Uk for a decent class of meal. The decor inside was really nice and cosy. Being a boat, the steps leading down to the toilets was steep, so try not to overdo the booze before you go.

We had a 3 night stay while visiting Prague and found it to be a nice, decent value hotel. Around 10-15 minutes walk along the river from Charles Bridge & the edge of the Old Town, there are several bars and restaurants nearby including a few by the river while also being away from the noise and crowds you’ll find further in. Our room was on the small side but to be expected - you’re staying in a cabin on a boat hotel after all. We had only booked a standard room, but had a few minutes in one of the superior rooms which was much more spacious. This came about after we found our room without hot water one morning. The lady on reception (located on the sister boat/hotel next door) was very helpful though and arranged for said room to be cleaned straight away for us to use to shower in. She also offered us a complimentary breakfast in the restaurant the following morning as an apology, and hot water was restored by the time we returned to our room later that evening so no big deal overall. The breakfast was very nice and was the only time we used the restaurant, which seems to be well reviewed.
Bathroom facilities were fine, the room was VERY hot with temperatures outside reaching 30 degrees but a fan was provided to help with this. A fridge with mini bar was also provided in the room.
Overall a pleasant, value for money stay in a nice hotel that’s a little bit different from the norm.

Really fun, unique property in Prague.

Booked a single room and was pleasantly surprised by the double bed! Would have preferred a double duvet and more than one pillow but this is minor. Fantastically stocked minibar in the room and even a Nespresso machine so can’t complain there.

Bathroom was compact but had everything that you needed and the shower had great pressure and was so warm!

I’ve given this property 4/5 stars because the welcome was poor. I arrived at around 10pm after arriving by train from Vienna. There was nobody on duty and no bell or button to press to call someone over. When a gentleman did eventually come to the desk, he was abrupt and not overly helpful. This being said, however, the morning staff were so helpful - particular thanks to Eva who marked out the best things to see on a map and even recommended some great restaurants off the beaten track!

Would definitely recommend and would return here if staying in Prague again.

Wonderful two night stay here. Room was comfortable, clean and generously sized with excellent en-suite. Despite being on the river in December the room was very cosy and warm. All staff were welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful with reservations for dinner and taxi. The location is perfect being only a short walk along the river to Charles Bridge and the Old Town so perfect for sightseeing.

We stayed for 2 nights in the junior deluxe suite for our honeymoon. The room is spacious and spotless and has a lovely terrace (only room with one). The staff are friendly and helpful. We had dinner one night on the resturant boat next door and it was fabulous. Very reasonably priced and romantic. The boat is wrll located away from the main busy centre but close enough to walk or catch a quick tram to. I would highly recommend a stay here.

We went there to have some dinner and it was amazing. The staff served us excellent even better.
We felt so comfortable. The food was delicious, they arranged an vegetarian option for us because they didn’t have one on the menu.
The wine we tried was the best in a long time. It was a German Riesling called “gold line”.

Thanks to the friendly staff and the lovely welcome.

Walked in 30 minutes before our reservation and were kindly greeted by Kamil. He was so kind & offered to hold our luggage while we went next door for a drink. The boat next door was friendly, so accommodating. Lada recommended a Prosecco that was easy to drink, we ended up having 2 bottles. :) once were back over to our boat, Eva was working the front desk. WOW. She was like having a personal Concierge. Helped us book tickets to see ballet (Sawn Lake), booked a taxi back to out train the next day, gave us a ton of ideas of what to see/do while visiting, & even some some tips for our travel through Europe. If you are lucky enough to get to stay at the Botel Matylda - DO IT!
***Be sure to look at the different rooms with and without view. There are two different boats - keep that in mind. And, the weather is unpredictable.
