Andel apartments is a building with maybe a dozen various sized newly built apartments with a nice restaurant in the ground level courtyard. Both the andel metro station (to old town) and trams (for the castle and bridge) are right across the street, in addition to prague's largest and newest tesco! At 1300 ck / 50 euro per night it's hard to beat.

For five nights in June we stayed in a non-attic studio 15a which was more than large enough for the two of us but as it faced the street we had to keep the windows closed to not hear the tram bells all night. With the windows closed, the noise was no problem but only the attic studios had aircon and it was hot enough that we wished we could open the windows. The restaurant noise below was not a problem because there were two doors to the courtyard. We stayed in another non-attic studio at the end of our trip for our pre-flight night, number 16, and even though it didn't face the busy street, it had windows directly on the walkway which meant it didn't have as much privacy. Prefer 15a over 16.

The room itself had a clean bed, handy cooking area, fridge, tv, and a spotless bathroom with the typical European shower stall (no tub). No wifi in the room but you can get access to the free wifi from the restaurant below out on the inner walkway. There is also free access to a laundry room at their other apartments around the corner. Reception is only open limited hours but their phone number is answered all the time. We ran out of hot water the first night but when we told reception we had no problem after.

Access from the airport is a 26ck ticket for bus 100 to  station then metro b line to andel and walk across the street. There are at least two exits and the wrong one dumps you out around the block.

As for food in Prague, the andel restaurant downstairs was very good. Full of locals. The strahov monastery serves fantastic cask beer and a very good salad with chunky tuna. You can buy non-FDA-approved Spanish jamon serrano at the Billa in the main train station. Surprisingly the pizzeria right up the street served better prosciutto pizza than we had in Italy! And drinking a dark beer in the main square in the afternoon is sublime.

As said in previous reviews, these are excellent appartments in an ideal location. We booked a studio which was spottlessly clean, with fully equipped kitchen area including fridge, hob and microwave. Although the outside temperature was freezing cold (about minus 10) the appartment had 2 very large radiators so was lovely and warm, above which were window seats so we could look out onto the main road and watch the trams go by.
Travel from the airport took about 30 mins, buy a ticket for about £1 from the airport info desk, get number 100 bus to Ziclin, then metro to Andel - the appartments are directly opposite the metro.
We shopped in the Tesco each day and cooked our own meals in the appartment, but there are also a selection of restaurants very close by as well as a food court in the shopping centre by Tesco.
24 hour transport passes cost about £3.80, and we enjoyed the trip up Petrin Hill on the funicular railway (great views of Prague from the top especially in thick snow).
I would 100% recommend these appartments, and when we return to Prague we will definately be using them again

Great location: just opposite to Andel metro station (line B) and Andel tram station (5 lines run there). Main entrance is on main street, and the gate will be locked at night (open by ur key card), I feel safe even back to hotel late! * I have to open 4 doors including my room door to enter my room! Good!

Room: very spacious (not usual in Europe), with a well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, big and good lighting toilet, good ventilation in bathroom (when u switch on the bathtube light, the ventilation will be turned on automatically), etc.

Price: real good deal! only euro 59/night (peak season euro 69/night). I booked early, so the price was only euro 59/night even in June! yeah! :P Though no breakfast included, it's still a good deal!

Service: be honest, it's just so so. The staff would not be there 24 hours. After their office hour, u can only contact them by calling their cell phone.

Check-in and -out: Also because of the above reason, u have to tell them ur check-in time when u book the room, or u have to wait downstair with ur luggage.... The reception is on the 2nd floor. I have to ask the restaurant staff to locate me, I have to ring the bell to open the door, and take my luggage up to the 2nd floor for check in... And, if u check-out before or after their office hour, u can simply leave the key card on the table in ur room. But, as my case, my flight would be at night, I cannot leave my luggage in their reception, but take it to luggage safe box in Hlavni nadrazi train station. (the staff told me that Smichovske nadrazi station also have this service, but actually not)

Others 1: there is a large tram rail construction in front of the hotel, the noise starts at 6:30am everyday..... i don't know when the construction will end.....

Others 2: As other people suggested to book a room facing the street for more privacy, I got the room #13A on 3rd floor facing the street. But then.... there is noise of people from Andel restaurant/bar downstair till 2am, esp. Fri & Sat night.... So, it's a dilemma! :)

Others 3: no cleaning service within my stay. If u need extra shower gel etc., u have to take them at reception directly

Nice apartment about three km from the center of the old town. Clean enough, friendly staff. The only sore point is the confusion late into the night caused by customers in the pub below and the washing machines running until after midnight. The earplugs you find in the apartment are absolutely not enough to dampen the noise.

If you are staying in one of the apartments at Andel, then not paying the last month rent and letting your security deposit cover that expense may be your best option to not be cheated out of the deposit.

Having stayed at one of the Andel apartments owned and operated by Resca's Unobase company as Residence Thunovska, I can only say that a great location and great employees don't make for a great experience if the company's proprietors try to cheat you out of your security deposit, taking advantage of you being on a different continent when the re-payment is due. Retaining a lawyer should not be part of ending a stay in a rental.

Manager Dean and maintenance lady Iryna were both wonderful to work with, no complaint there!

Agree with the favorable reviews on Andel Apartments except for one thing. The noise from late night (till 3:00AM ) in the courtyard area. Maybe we just hit it at a bad time but wwe literally could not sleep for two out of the three nights. The restaraunts in the courtyard area have to close at 10:00 PM due to strict Prague noise restricrions, but one corner bar outside of the courtyrd is open all night and patrons go out tothe courtyard to sit (and scream at the top of their lungs!)

Otherwise, we like to eat in when we can so the built in kitchen was great. The apartments are clean and have plenty of storage albiet meek furnishings otherwise. The location is great, supermarket right around the corner and as mentioned in other reviews across the street from the Andel metrostation and close to other tram stops. My 4-1/2 stars has to be reduced to three because of the sleepless nights. I would other wise recommend the hotel but if there is another choice at the same price nearby you may not want to risk the issue we faced during our visit.

I've chosen this hotel because of the reviews on TripAdvisor, therefore I won't repeat those. Just a few attention/be aware things:
- At least in our room, very limited amount of furniture items; for example, absolutely nothing to put things on in the entry area and in the bathroom.
- Hot water was probably preheated somewhere, and though its amount was enough to take a shower, it was ending sometimes earlier than we'd like it to.
- Our room (15A) was facing the street and was looking on a tram stop. You cannot sleep with windows open unless using ear-plugs (which helps); try to avoid the street-looking rooms.
- Internet is ONLY cable, so bring your laptop. My PDA was useless. A cable is available from the reception I believe.
- The rooms are cleaned only once per week and before your arrival. Ours was very clean when we arrived.

A special note: In general, the location of the hotel is amazingly good, with direct cheap and fast public transport connection to everything in Prague (within 2 minutes walking distance from the hotel), next to a nice shopping area with many cafes and restaurants and the biggest Tesco supermarket I've seen in my life (very helpful, since there was a convenient kitchenette in the room).

We were very pleased with our stay here. The apartment was conveniently located right across the street from the B Metro and several trams. Also it is right by a Tesco (department store with supermarket) and Mall in case you forgot to pack something or want to use the kitchen to cook in the apartment. The restaurant (located on the ground floor) was good to eat at, too, and was not too noisy. The room was exceptionally clean. It made a great home-base for our sightseeing and day-trips. The staff were helpful and found a hairdryer for us to use, helped us work the TV and the washing machine, and really any time we asked, they helped us. It was a little ambiguous as far as whether it was a hotel or an apartment, in the sense that cleaning was only once a week, but we saw that we could ask for more towels, and some toiletries were provided. It was a little weird having to ask where to throw out the garbage, and we ended up providing out own bags and toilet paper, because we just finally tired of asking for so many things. It we were staying for a month, and it was truly an apartment rental, this would make more sense, but it seemed somewhere in the middle of the kind of service you would expect at a hotel and what you would expect if you were renting from an agent. Having said that, this ambiguity did not really taint our stay, and we would definitely stay there again.

We were fortunate to be put into an apartment in their annex. Just a couple of hundred metres away from the main building. Superbly decorated and with all mod cons . Close to a tram stop, across from a large supermarket and metro station. An ideal location for a stay in Praha

Dear Sandra, Thank you very much for your lovely review. We are delighted to know you enjoyed your stay in Prague with Anděl Apartments. As you mentioned, the location of our apartments is great. With metro station and tram stop just in front of the main building, there are shops in the area, our Restaurant Anděl offers traditional Czech cuisine with decent Pilsner Urquell beer and it is just 20 minutes’ walk to the Charles Bridge and Prague Castel. Sandra, it was great to have you, so we hope we might see you back sometime in the future. Best regards, Blanka, reception

The apartment was very nice. The interior has a very nice aspect. The disadvantage of this location is the fact that downstairs is a restaurant and it gets very noisy , you can hear the crowds up until the dawn. They offer ear plugs but unfortunately you can already hear them. Another minus was the fact that we traveled with another couple and even though our room was supreme too, and on the website it was mentioned supreme, our shower was very small and we did not have ac or a sofa, they had a nicer room for the same price.

Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. I also recommend the restaurant downstairs, the food is amazing.

The location is very near the subway and trams and close to the Charles Bridge.

Hi there, Thank you very much for your review. Your feedback is very important for us. We are really sorry about your disappointment with your room. There is only one Superior Studio with no air-condition and we are working on the upgrade. Each of our rooms differs slightly one from each other. The main building has its amazing history and we didn’t want to disturb the genius loci of each apartment. We make sure the standards are high and our rooms are comfortable and clean. We provide daily room service, breakfast is served every morning in restaurant, the reception is opened every day, there is a laundry in our building, etc. We would really love if you would decide to come back sometime in the future. If you will require quiet room with the air-condition, I can promise that we will do our best to make you next stay as comfortable as possible. It was pleasure to have you here! Best regards, Blanka, reception

Yes the tram is right outside the hotel. It’s only a 30 min walk to the Charles Bridge and another 5 min into Old Town Square. Hope this helps

Hello Lewis, You can just send an email to Andel and remind them of your request. The quieter building is called "Andel Apartments Para II". Just let them know you prefer to live in that building. I will suggest you to compare the price between booking agent and Andel web site, then choose the better one. From my experience, I get a good deal form Andel official web but not the booking broker. Andel's email address is info@andelapartments.cz. Normally, the response is pretty soon and willing to answer all kinds of questions. Hope this explanation would be helpful to your concerns. Alex
