On a business trip to Prague in October I was put up at the Residence Monastery, a 300 year old monastery converted to a hotel, courtesy a business associate. My initial reaction was of disappointment as there are no elevators, no one to help with luggage and the check-in desk is on the ground floor, when u enter at street...

We stayed for 3 nights over the Xmas holidays & having read previous reviews they were spot on, Residence Monastery has an appeal that is rarely found these days in that the location, the rooms & service are all most satisfying. The receptionist Stepan easily deals with any guidance issues & more importantly is very welcoming. We arrived 3 hours early...

This hotel provides a quiet and relaxing respite from all the activity in the wonderful city of Prague. The grounds, walkways and views of the monastery and church are lovely. There also are at least 3 restaurants right there within the walls, and lots of cafes and shops right down the stairway and through the entryway doors. Cafes within a...

The name says it - the hotel is on the grounds of an old monastery and somehow they have managed to retain the serenity and calm that (I imagine) a monastery would have had. It's up a fairly steep hill from the center, so you're not right in the action - though you are near prague castle - but since...

What a wonderful hotel experience. The staff were top notch. Very helpful and accommodating. They arranged taxis, excursions and just were a wealth of knowledge whenever we needed some guidance. The room was very large by European standards. The location was perfect for us. It wasn't in the thick of things, but still a short distance away from the main...

We stayed in Residence Monastery In June 2012. The hotel was lovely, with a large and light room which opened up on to a courtyard. In a quiet and beautiful location with good views over the city - however as previously mentioned it is a long walk up a steep hill which we didnt realise until later that could be...

We stayed in the Residence Monastery a couple of days ago. It was quite a good choice regarding the location and level of customer service. The rooms are quite good value for money, and although they look a bit raw, they are clean and comfy. The hotel is quite close to the trams, metro station and the centre. Modern bathroom,...

I stayed in the Monastery hotel a couple of weeks ago. It was an excellent place with a very scenic view and garden. The main gentleman at the reception is very nice and helpful. The rooms are nice with a modern bathroom. The only reason I'm giving it four stars is because our AC would turn on but would not...

This is a very special place to stay. It is an old monastery now converted. Large rooms with lot of character, beautiful garden and view overlooking green hills. This said, make sure you get there by public transport or a cab otherwise you will need to negotiate a long steep hill and absolute lack of indication how and where to...

Staying in Hradcany & Letna

Neighborhood Profile
Hradcany & Letna
Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.
