The Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa is located just a few steps from Prague Castle and Charles Bridge, amidst the picturesque streets of Malá Strana. The hotel is housed in four former bourgeois houses, the oldest of which, "Dům u Ježíška" (House by the Infant Jesus), has served various purposes and owners over the past five centuries.

In keeping with the historic character of the building, the Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa sensitively incorporates the Aquarius Restaurant, which spoils its guests with modern Italian and local specialities and an exquisite wine collection, and the Indonesian Ecsotica Spa & Health Club, which is located in the building's ancient cellars and offers a perfect hideaway for relaxation.

A Place to Stay as Wonderful as Prague Itself
When my fiancée and I were planning our stay in Prague we knew we wanted a nice place with local flavor that was well located. I'd only been there once, long ago for business, and she had never been there. In the end, we could not have picked a better spot. The hotel is in a perfect location. We walked everywhere. The Charles Bridge is right down the street, the Castle just up the hill. The view from our third floor window was spectacular. The Alchymist oozes with character, we literally had our breath taken away when we first walked into our room. The front desk staff could not have been more welcoming. They were pleasant and helpful. The hotel got in touch a week or so before to ask if we wanted a ride from the airport. The cost is very reasonable and is added to your bill. Highly recommend this. The hotel is located next to the US embassy, so the street is quiet and well guarded. We already look forward to our next visit to Prague and it is certain we will stay at the Alchymist.
Dear Greg P., I would like to thank you, for taking the time and writing such a positive review. It was our pleasure having you and your fiancee as our guest and I am truly glad that you have enjoyed your stay with us. I am truly glad to read it, as it always brings me joy to know that our guests have enjoyed their vacation to the fullest. It was a pleasure having you at our hotel and we will be more than happy to welcome you back on your next trip to Prague. Kind regards, Šárka Bonelli Flekalová

    Fantastic!!
I booked the Alchymist for a 3 day visit for my wife and I for a combined birthday present. After searching through the websites of probably 70+ hotels, I chose the Alchymist due to its wonderful decor which is very much my wife’s taste, the location and the reviews I had read. I have to say it was certainly the right choice as everything about the Alchymist was wonderful! Upon arrival we were met at the entrance as we stepped out of our taxi, welcomed to the hotel and our ( very heavy) Case was taken through to reception. We were seated at a grand desk and offered a glass of sparkling wine whilst we completed the check in process. We were then walked up to our room by a member of the staff who showed us the lounges, bar, and restaurant whilst telling us their opening times. He told us about the Spa and Pool and also about the daily complimentary cheese and wine served between 4pm - 5pm..... a very nice touch! He showed us our room and explained about the room safe etc..., then he returned a few minutes later with our case. The room was beautiful, very ornate with a terrifically comfortable bed. We asked for some additional pillows and an iron which arrived in minutes. We only ate breakfast at the hotel as we were sightseeing most of the time. However the choice was terrific and the food excellent. Every member of staff we encountered was extremely efficient and very polite and friendly. However, I have to say a special thank you to the two reception staff and in particular, Pavel who was absolutely terrific. I spoke to Pavel continually throughout our stay to ask general questions about directions etc... but he also helped me tremendously booking a river boat dinner cruise on one evening and an evening at the Mozart Dinner which I can highly recommend! In both of the above, Pavel rang the venues and secured us the best seating. It was also very convenient that we were able to pay the hotel for each event rather than having to pay at the venue or through their website. i have probably had well over 100 hotel stays over the years for business ( especially) and leisure trips through Europe, Asia and the US. I can honestly say that my stay at the Alchymist is possibly the best experience I have had. The politeness and efficiency of the staff is absolutely first class. The decor is wonderful and the hotel is spotlessly clean. The location of the hotel is excellent; in a quiet street but within 7 mins walk from Charles bridge which takes you into the Old town. If I visit Prague again, this hotel would be my first if not only choice. I can’t recommend it strongly enough! Julian 6.01.20

    Exquisite 500 year old Hotel
Stayed here with my other half. The building is just over 500 year old and is situated next to the American Embassy and is a very safe area of the city. The Hotel cost that little bit extra to stay there and is very authentic in the deco inside the rooms and throughout the hotel itself. The staff are awesome and very friendly. Each room has a mini bar that you have to pay for and its not cheap to purchase from it. Also has a pool and sauna in the lower levels of the hotel. The food is awesome and very fresh. Its located on the West side of the river but close to the castle in the city. I would go there again and is more enjoyable in winter months with less people there and costs lower than summert time 10/10

What a fantastic stay! We had reserved a Terrace Junior Suite but when we arrived were given an option to upgrade to the Alchymist suite for a small additional charge, which we gladly did. It was the most amazing hotel room we have ever had and that is saying a lot, as we have stayed in some amazing places! The bathroom was literally the size of our living room at home. We totally felt like royalty the entire time we were there. The staff are absolutely the best and the facilities are amazing. The hotel is filled with old world charm, but has all of the modern upgrades you could want. We used the spa every day which is just an incredible experience. The breakfast is also excellent. We didn’t have a chance to try the complimentary daily wine and cheese offerings as we were busy sightseeing, but I’m sure they were also great. From start to finish this was an unbeatable experience. Prague was the prettiest city we have ever been to, and I hope someday we can return to this remarkable hotel!

I cannot say enough about how wonderful this hotel is - from the helpful and friendly staff, to the lovely spa, to the breakfast, to the location! Our room - a family suite - was simply lovely. Clean and roomy - just as advertised. It was a bit of a splurge for us but honestly one of the best choices we made on our trip. Unreservedly recommend.

Fantasic hotel, beautifully decorated and with excellent facilities and spa. But unfortunately we experienced inconvenience during our stay because an event was organised resulting in significant noise from 7:00am! The hotel management could have been more thoughtful to make arrangements for the events at more sociable hours OR put guests in rooms which are not adjacent to the event, resulting in guests inconvenience.

The Alchymist Grand Hotel has the charm of a mini chateau, decorated with carefully chosen works of art throughout. The location is terrific, not far from Charles Bridge, and with a couple of great restaurants on the same street. The staff were adorable and the pool, and spa area were a real treat. The breakfasts were delicious and wine/cheese every day at 16h offered graciously was a great surprise. The hotel garden is an oasis and blankets are provided for chilly days when you might want to eat outside. It's an idyllic setting in a city that's been described as "the terrace of Eastern Europe". I hope I have the opportunity to return to this haven, where apart from the beauty of the building, the hotel staff's warm welcome as we returned from sightseeing every day was heartwarming. The lady working in the spa area was also a joy to speak to and like everyone else working in the hotel, had lots of time to chat, to advise and was the personification of graciousness and positivity. The cleaning staff were also very accommodating and extremely efficient.

Grand old hotel very close to the 200+stairs to the palace. We stayed in a 2 bed/2bath suite. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The bathrooms had drawbacks mostly due to the age of the hotel- showers drain slowly etc. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Location was great close to restaurants, Charles bridge and the palace. It was easy to uber to the shopping malls in the new town part. We used the spa and the service was great!

Our favorite hotel of our 3 country journey and all were highly rated. Our particular room, 102, was gorgeous with a bathroom that would rival the size of many hotel bedrooms. The soaking tub for two was such a treat after miles of walking through the city. The morning breakfast buffet was very large with numerous delicious choices all freshly prepared. One evening we also enjoyed their wine/cheese which was kindly extended extra time since everyone was having fun. There is also a fantastic, zen like spa. Be sure to book a massage! Staff were friendly and helpful. They booked a dinner reservation for us as well as arranging transportation for our early departure. We had a 6:30am pick up to the airport and the hotel had two bags filled with freshly baked pastries, sandwiches, fruit, orange juice, water, coffee and tea. My only caution is that it is located on the "quieter" side of the Charles Bridge. To us that was a positive. We love to walk and found it much more peaceful. Ubers and cabs are easy and readily available. Bring walking shoes for the cobblestone streets and appreciate walking off all of the calories.
