Room was small and dirty when we first moved in.
The staff at the reception does not always speak or understand English. We asked for towels because our room hadn't been cleaned for the 3rd day in a row and they just made up some lie in broken english.
The breakfast was a joke. We are well traveled and we have never ever seen a worse breakfast buffet even at smaller not well established places.
By far if you get an option to add a breakfast I would most certainly opt out.
The beds are uncomfortable. Pillows were our source for Terrible back pain for a whole week. If you are any taller or heavier than I the blankets will not fit you.
The whole hotel is carpeted and because we didnt receive any room cleaning for 3 days at one point, it gets pretty dirty during the winter months.
The only few positive things I have to add are that it's ok positioned for you to walk about the city.
They give you tiny pillows in addition to the regular big lumps that are great for additional support for your back.
Our room had a bathtub which was the only thing that somewhat saved my stay here.
All in all after staying here for a week we feel like we have been cheated out of our money for what we ended up receiving during our stay.
PS. Take comfortable walking shoes. You don’t realise the amount of ‘steps’ you take walking around, finding something different in every street.
Breakfast was excellent with lots of choices.
Just around the corner was The Orange Bar which was a great place for a drink.
We would recommend and stay again.
Australia as part of a tour itinerary. It is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at in my life. The hotel has a very tiny lobby overflowing with group luggage and on 2 of our 3 days we could not walk across the floor. Our room was miniscule. We had to climb over the bed to get to the door or bathroom. The carpet was stained by flooding from the bathroom (see photo). The bedding was a joke. The pillow was totally flat (see 2nd photo). There was no top sheet and the quilt was 30 inches wide (see 3rd photo), so I woke up totally uncovered many times a night. The breakfast room was too small for the number of guests, with no ventilation as the windows didn't open. A real covid hotspot to be avoided. I complained to Albatross Tours but they told me I was imagining things. Don't trust them. They told us we were supposed to get a superior, but that the hotel put us in a standard room. But it is not just the room. It’s the entrance with a broken front step. It’s the total lack of lunch and dinner facilities. It’s the barren concrete stairwells. Calling it a 4 star is a joke. It is a 2 star hotel.
Positives itens: the room was spacious, including the bathroom; breakfast with good options; the location close to Prague's old town center and train stops.
Negative points: one of the front desk attendants during the day (the oldest) was very unfriendly and rude; the mattresses and pillows of the beds were terrible; room cleaning only occurs every 3 days because the alleged being ecological; the room has a carpeted floor, which gets dusty and can contain dust mites; there is no dispenser for hand sanitizing in the breakfast room.
It is an expensive hotel for what it offers, not worth the choice just for the location.
It’s close to everything you need nearby, main attractions are easy to get to. There’s a hop on hop off bus service right outside the hotel.
The hotel itself is very clean, housekeeping service is great and they serve a lovely breakfast. All superb value for money. If I visit Prague again I would definitely come back to this hotel.
"Don’t stay here. The Josef Hotel and the Maximilian Hotel are a few blocks and only slightly more expensive"Read full review
