Neighborhood
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

The hotel is located steps from the Old Town Square and the Astronomical Clock. The location is pretty perfect. We took an Uber from the airport and we were dropped off on the street behind the hotel and had no problems finding the “lobby”. The reception is located in the coffee shop which is a tight squeeze with luggage and patrons of the coffee shop. We weren’t immediately acknowledged by any reception personnel and felt that the check-in process could be more efficient (possibly located somewhere else?). Our room was large with high ceilings and minimal furniture. The floor was not clean upon arrival but we notified the staff and it was cleaned right away. There was no shower in our room. I’m not sure if this is hotel wide and I’m unsure if the original listing mentioned this. It was initially shocking but we were able to adapt. I gave this hotel 4 stars because I do appreciate how old it is and its supreme location, but feel the rooms need more attention to detail and the check-in process could be better.

Well situated hotel in the old part of the city, near the Astronomical Clock and Old Town Square. The hotel is located in an old house with very high rooms and old furniture. The rooms were so high, the light of the room was very low, so if you want to work on the laptop it is hard. The smell of the room is an old one and it gives you the impression that no much investment has been done in the room. I wanted to see in the evening a football match on the TV set and I couldn’t because no program was set, just only one. Everywhere I traveled I could watch the TV.

Chose the hotel for our Prague city break based on location and reviews and it didn’t disappoint. Just off the Old Square and easy walking for all main attractions on both sides of the river. A bit difficult to find as the front entrance is through the coffee shop, also part of the hotel and we walked past it without noticing. The rear entrance is best for taxi’s as they can stop directly outside – this entrance leads to a lovely courtyard with outside tables. Our room was fine – on the first floor overlooking the courtyard – not massive but big enough with very high ceilings, plenty of storage and a huge Jacuzzi bath with shower – and a great feeling of history. Buffet breakfast was in a room off the courtyard with an interesting selection for a Brit tourist. I think the fried eggs and beans were for me but really enjoyed sampling the other meats, fruits, cheese, cakes, unknown savouries – and there was a selection of sliced breads, spreads and a toaster – put it through twice obviously  Our main contact with the staff was really just booking in and out via the coffee shop and all very good. We really loved our stay here. We arranged our taxi transfer from/to airport via booking.com and they were competitively priced and very good.

Spent 2 nights at the Golden Deer hotel to celebrate a special birthday! From booking process on their website, booking the airport transfer, the fast check in and useful information, the staff were fantastic! The room was spacious, clean and there was a jacuzzi bath which was wonderful to relax after the day soent walking around the centre. Breakfast was varied and delicious, there was homemade cakes, granola, cookies and pastries as well as cold and hot selection of eggs and Czech specialties, such as ham, cheeses and salami. We were given a warm welcome by one of the French-speaking staff who was always friendly and made sure we had all we needed. The other English speaking staff were very helpful booking shows for us and giving tips to where to go for food... Iwould go back and recommend the Golden Deer without hesitation thank you for a wonderful birthday celebratory break.

As you can imaging with an age dating back to the 1600's Golden Deer is not a modern hotel and does have a lot of steps to get to the upper floors. We had a room overlooking the courtyard on the first floor which was great. Staff are very informative and welcoming.
