Stayed 4 nices in an attic room. Room was spacious and I loved that you could open the windows, and that they all had pull down blinds for shade/privacy. Was fine with the low ceilings in the room, though I did bump my head a few times in the bathroom. Lots of stairs getting up to the room as there's... More

Stayed here for three nights in one of the attic rooms. I quite liked the room, it was quiet at night and the air con worked well (only the attic rooms have air con). I imagine it would be particularly cozy on a winter night. As mentioned in other reviews, the ceilings are low especially in the bathroom. I'm 5'8... More

I loved everything about this hotel! The only bad is that there is no lift - so ask for a room on the 1st floor which is exactly what I did. The rooms are huge and beautiful and the location is amazing. They have a driver who works for the hotel Milan who is lovely and can pick you up... More

Domus Balthasar is a great place to stay in a perfect location. We were in an attic room, which was quaint and cozy. While the climb up was quite a few steps, the air conditioning was nice to have to block out some of the rowdies on the street at night. Everything from sheets to towels to mattress was of... More

This is a nice hotel in a very good location. It's clean and comfortable. The staff are very nice and friendly. They are knowledgeable about Prague and they are always willing to help. My concern though is the safety practices some of their staff follow. They kept a laundry chute open on the floor next to the exit door. There... More

Thank you for the nice words and we are glad to hear you are fine. We are extremely sorry for the misadventure and have taken firm measures ourselves and with our co-operating subjects. The opening is technical, opened rarely, unfortunately was operated by an employee of the service we outsource. However, please take care and watch your step anywhere you... More

Situated on the edge of Charles Bridge, locations really don't get much better in Prague. Walking distance to everything but on the right side of the river to miss the throngs of tourists and get some peace and quiet. Rooms are huge and well appointed. Big bathroom, big bed, we really liked the separate living/seating area. Staff are knowledgeable and... More

This was a fantastic hotel set in a perfect location right near the historic bridge on the cool side. A short walk across the bridge to downtown, but we liked staying on this side. Old historic building, but nicely decorated. The front desk help were super friendly and helpful with everything we needed, from getting a cab to pointing out... More

We visited Prague in July, 2016 and booked two rooms at the Domus Balthasar in Prague. The rooms were charming, VERY spacious, and super clean. The location was EXCELLENT---literally 1 minute to the historic Charles Bridge. We couldn't believe it. It MADE our stay in Prague. We stayed in the upstairs suite on the 4th floor. It had quite a... Everyone seems to love this place but it could be so much better with a little fine tuning and attention to detail. I seem to be going against the grain but I would like to give some constructive criticism based on our stay. The positives as mentioned by most people, the location couldn't be better, our rooms were large and... More

Placed in the heart of Prague, this boutique hotel has a great service and has an excellent location. Very good breakfast served in the cafe next door. It offers transfers in/out by pre booking. Warning, the attic room is not suitable for 1.75m+ people because of its low ceiling.

Thank you for the nice review. We hope the low ceiling wasn't too much of a trouble for you. At the same time, we believe that the photos and descriptions provided on our website prevent the taller guests from booking our attic room and hopefully this comment will help too. Feel welcome to stay with us again and perhaps try... More

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighborhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighborhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighborhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Design hotel Domus Balthasar is a baroque building with medieval foundation and 21st century design, situated on the Royal Route, in the heart of the oldest and most romantic part of Prague - Lesser Quarter (Mala Strana), few steps from Charles Bridge, close to Old Town and Prague Castle. Domus Balthasar is nearly of all most popular sights within easy reach on foot or by tram. Although is situated in the centre, also in a neighborbood of nicest parks. Business centers easily accessible. It is the ideal place for a holiday as well as for an enjoyable business trip. The building's history goes back to the 14th century, though the fittings are either modern or timeless. We do our best to respect history while at the same time respecting the current needs and tastes of our guests. Our interiors are made warm by wooden, atypical furniture with clean lines in dark colours which combines well with the light, creamy tones of the carpets, curtains and other decorations. Hotel has 8 rooms including 2 Double attic rooms, 3 generously spacious deluxe double rooms, 2 Suites with kitchenette and 1 Royal. Please notice our historic house uniquely located within an UNESCO listed World Heritage Site does not have an elevator. Due to a lower ceiling Attic double rooms are not recommended for people taller than 1,80 m/6 feet. ... more   less
