This is definitively one of the top locations to stay in Prague. if you leave the hotel, turn right and walk about 150 meters, then you are right on Charles Bridge. The hotel itself is in a historic building, having that very special romantic atmosphere of such places. Unavoidably, this comes with some minor trade offs like the lack of... More

Dear Uwe, thank you very much for leaving us such a wonderful review. We are genuinely pleased that you've enjoyed your stay! You have no idea how grateful we are for your positive attitude and cheerful spirit you brought to our hotel and we promise you that there will be NO "all-the-way-to-attic-room" excercise next time :-) Best regards to both... We stayed at the Deluxe room on 1/F last week. It's spacious, clean, beautiful with high ceiling. The front desk lady was very nice and kind, she provided us with some useful information :) The location was good and very convenient! Too bad that we couldn't extend our stay in this hotel as it has already fully booked for the... More

We spent three nights here with my partner when visiting Prague this spring. Just a few steps from Charles's Bridge, it is a perfect walking distance location for almost all Prague's 'jewels'. The entrance in a form of a big town house gate doesn't really suggest there is a 'hotel' here and even when you get inside, you don't feel... More

I stayed at this hotel towards end of August for 3 nights. You cannot beat the location, less than a minute from Charles bridge... you just walk across the bridge and you are in the heart of the town. There is no AC but don't let this deter you, there is a fan and it is quite adequate The room... More

I travel to Prague often for work and I think I've found my favorite hotel to stay! It is perfectly balanced. It is close to everything (2 main bridges including METERS away from the Charles Bridge tower, Prague Castle, Lennon Wall) without being in the center of Old Town. It is quiet at late night but still sits on the... More

I stayed 2 nights and loved the location - it is so close to the Charles Bridge. My room was big, very clean and the bed comfortable. I loved my stay. But there are some considerations. There is no elevator - so if stairs are a problem then make sure you book a lower floor. It is a small hotel... More

Dear Norman, thank you very much for a nice review! We are perfectly aware of the fact that "no lift" is an issue that may make our hotel slightly less appealing. However, we are very happy to hear that our cosy rooms and handy location made all the CONs at least slightly it easier-to-bear! We will happily offer you our... More

Lovely hotel in a great location right near the Charles Bridge. The managers on reception were all helpful and really make you feel welcome. The attic room is beautiful, clean, comfortable and quiet all night, no outside noise. If you have trouble with stairs there is no lift, but....it was good exercise. I would happily recommend this hotel.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for five nights in July. The hotel location cannot be beat and is a couple hundred feet from the Charles Bridge. Stayed 4 nices in an attic room. Room was spacious and I loved that you could open the windows, and that they all had pull down blinds for shade/privacy. Was fine with the low ceilings in the room, though I did bump my head a few times in the bathroom. Lots of stairs getting up to the room as there's... More

Stayed here for three nights in one of the attic rooms. I quite liked the room, it was quiet at night and the air con worked well (only the attic rooms have air con). I imagine it would be particularly cozy on a winter night. As mentioned in other reviews, the ceilings are low especially in the bathroom. I'm 5'8... More

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighborhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighborhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighborhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Design hotel Domus Balthasar is a baroque building with medieval foundation and 21st century design, situated on the Royal Route, in the heart of the oldest and most romantic part of Prague - Lesser Quarter (Mala Strana), few steps from Charles Bridge, close to Old Town and Prague Castle. Domus Balthasar is nearly of all most popular sights within easy reach on foot or by tram. Although is situated in the centre, also in a neighborbood of nicest parks. Business centers easily accessible. It is the ideal place for a holiday as well as for an enjoyable business trip. The building's history goes back to the 14th century, though the fittings are either modern or timeless. We do our best to respect history while at the same time respecting the current needs and tastes of our guests. Our interiors are made warm by wooden, atypical furniture with clean lines in dark colours which combines well with the light, creamy tones of the carpets, curtains and other decorations. Hotel has 8 rooms including 2 Double attic rooms, 3 generously spacious deluxe double rooms, 2 Suites with kitchenette and 1 Royal. Please notice our historic house uniquely located within an UNESCO listed World Heritage Site does not have an elevator. Due to a lower ceiling Attic double rooms are not recommended for people taller than 1,80 m/6 feet. ... more   less
