But we got a newly renovated room, with a newly renovated modern bathroom on the 3rd floor! The room was spacious, with two big windows. It was cosy and warm in the room. The room and the bathroom were spotless.
The dining area in the basement should be a little bigger, but it did not diminish the fact the breakfast was delicious.
We would recommend this hotel.
if you want luxury look elsewhere, but for a good value, no nonsense hotel you could do alot worse!
On 28th December i opted to get a taxi to near my hotel and wait as reception is not 24/7. The taxi driver asked for money 300krona and he did not have change so asked me to ask the hotel. i went in with the taxi driver and they started to converse with each other. The person on reception this morning around 7am was not helpful. I finally asked what was happening as i dont understand and to ensure i had money to pay but if he had no change where could i get this from. The person on recpetion did not help me and just depmanded if i did not have kronas then to pay in euros to which i explained i do not have and only have GBP. when i was told the conversion i said that £12.00 was to expensive and he just demanded i paid. After the taxi driver left i was then rushed out of the hotel when i was trying to zip up my back and the reception person told me to go back to England. i said that was not right and he said well thats where you are from. having been told such great things about Prague my first 45minutes in the city was not great. I was wanting to ask the hotel to let me stay until 8am so that i coul wait to drop my bag off but then had to walk to another hotel.
We had emailed a few weeks prior to our stay to ask if they would be able to store our suitcase as we had an early flight and didn't want to be stuck with it all day. We received a quick response telling us that this is a service the hotel provides. We arrived at the hotel around 10am, expecting to leave our bags and check in later. However, we were met by 3 lovely members of staff who told us we were able to check in early. This got our holiday off to a great start! We were able to leave our bags on the last day as we had a late flight on the Friday evening.
We had a room on the second floor. The room was modern, spacious and clean. All amenities were provided (we had needlessly brought our own towels after reading a previous review saying these weren't provided.)
Breakfast was good, there was bacon, sausages, boiled and scrambled egg alongside cold meats, cheeses, pastries and cereals. The staff kept the food on offer well topped up, which was good because it was busy at breakfast.
Staff were very friendly, chatty and helpful and made us feel very welcome.
The hotel is a short walk from the metro station Náměstí Míru on the A line. This made the journey to and from the airport very easy as we hopped on the 119 bus from the airport (7 stops) and boarded the metro at Nádraží Veleslavín (another 7 stops to Náměstí Míru) which took us less than an hour. There is a tram stop near the hotel, however we did not use the tram and opted to use the metro as it was only 3 stops to Old Town Square. We had bought our transport tickets at the airport but I believe you can also buy these from the hotel.
There are a number of restaurants in the area, along with a couple of supermarkets for cheap supplies should they be needed.
This hotel is excellent value for money. We hope to return to Prague next year and will definitely be staying at Hotel Machova again!
