Beautiful hotel, incredible location. Really nice breakfast, highly recommend. The AC was a little weak so the room was warm but a fan made it ok. The bed was comfy. The staff were very friendly and even accommodated a special request at breakfast.

First impression was great. A very clean hotel. Great room, great view. But after we came back, the keycard didn’t work. We called the technical service this was at 22:45. The woman on the phone didn’t understand the problem and told us to wait until 07 a.m. This of course was unacceptable. After 30 minutes the woman asked me if I could speak Russian. Between the four of us, we speak 7 languages, but no Russian. The woman did not give us the number of the person who’s responsible. That means that if there were a fire or a guest having a heart attack there would be no one present to take care of this situation on site. After we called the police, 2330 and they talked to the woman, we still couldn’t get into the room. We called 4 different numbers, present on several information forms. The police got the number one of a employees but he didn’t succeed to open the door. At 01:15 he gave us a staff room, which was very small, but at least we got a little sleep. In the morning the same employee as who couldn’t open the door. The first technician couldn’t solve the problem also. A second technician is called and we have to bother the employee every time we need to get into the room. We have to sleep in the small staff room. We have written booking.com to get our money back, as there is no one on site of the hotel to reimburse us on the spot. We will not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Response from Hotel Čertovka, Guest Services / Front Office at Hotel Certovka
Responded 2 days ago
Dear Guests, We are very sorry about this situation, but it looks like you stayed in the shelter under the stairs, which is not true. You contacted us during the night saying that the lock on the door to the room had stopped working. The receptionist arrived at the hotel in the shortest possible time. Unfortunately, he was unable to open the room, so you were immediately given a replacement room. Not staff room, but attic fully equipped room. The next morning around 7am, the room was opened and the lock fixed about 2 hours later. We apologized several times for this situation that arose, which was not the fault of any of the staff, but only due to technology. It was not really possible to prevent the situation. You were given compensation by the hotel as an apology. We apologize once more. Hotel Management

The hotel is right next to the bridge which attracts flocks of people day and night, and across from restaurants playing loud music. Not a good place if you are looking for a quiet stay. More hotels down the street, just as convenient and out of the bustle.

Just returned from a trip, two couples in our party.. hotel was in a good location based in the old town of Prague right at end of Charles Bridge. Restaurants, shops and bars etc within walking distance and only a walk across the bridge to go towards Wenceslas square (approx 15 min walk). Hotel a bit dated but staff friendly . Hotel clean.. breakfast was included in room which offered continental and one hot meal I.e. omelette or sausages or scrambled eggs.. very good for the small price we paid for the weekend price for the hotel. Reception man on desk of daytime very friendly and pre booked our return taxi for us to airport day before.. check out is 11 but you can leave your luggage behind the desk and they will look after for you if you are travelling home later in the day to go back and collect. The hotel can arrange taxis for you to Prague castle etc. Outside hotel they run the river cruises/tours which was great as the smaller boats you can go through the smaller little areas off the main canal .. overall for what you pay for this hotel I could not complain and would return

We stayed here for our first trip to Prague, so had no real idea what to look for or expect. The Certovka looked lovely on the booking sites and seemed to have excellent views so we looked forward to our stay. Unfortunately it wasn't quite what we were hoping. It's almost under the Charles Bridge, despite looking as though it's on a level with it. The top floors may have a view of the bridge. We requested a high floor and/or a view of the water but were given neither. On check in we did ask if we could change but received the answer that we couldn't as there are long-term lodgers. This was disappointing. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The decor is very dated - presumably this is intended to keep the charm or tradition of the building which I agree with, but it could still be thoughtfully updated. The hotel is excellently placed in terms of convenience. We took a taxi to and from the airport - this was a short ride and very affordable. It was close to tram stops and about a minute's walk from being on the bridge. I would say this is its main strong point as it was easy to explore Lesser Town as well as Old Town. Breakfast was okay. The breakfast room is very small. There was a small menu of cooked items - my husband had some of these and enjoyed them. There is also quite a small buffet - the items on here were quite limited but tasty. We did have a big service problem at breakfast. I have some food allergies and a sign assured us that we could ask for an information sheet that would list all allergens in the buffet items. However when we asked for this we were simply given a list of common allergies - nuts, fruit, etc. Not very helpful as it didn't tell us about the food, just what people can be allergic to! We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel every day, partly because of this issue. In summary the Certovka is a perfectly fine hotel for what we paid. The convenience alone made it worth the money, but it is very dated and we were disappointed initially which put a damper on our first night. We probably would not stay again.

Hotel is located by Charles bridge at Mala Strana. Easy to access to old town and Prague castle. I think you can feel as if you were in middle ages. And there are many nice restaurant and bar around hotel. Hotel staff are kind and friendly.

Perfect location at the end of Charles Bridge. Many of the rooms (we were in room 8) have views of the arches of Charles Bridge. Nicely decorated. Wi-fi signal was weak in our room, no tea/coffee facilities in room. But I still give it 5 stars despite these minor criticisms.

Stayed 4-8 Nov 2019 Nice hotel. Perfect location, right in the shadow of the west end of Charles Bridge. 5 -10 mins walk to the Old Town Square. We had a room (room 15, 2nd floor) over the river and it was quite quiet. Beds were reasonably comfortable and the shower was nice, hot and powerful. Wi-Fi very poor, kept dropping connection in our room. Staff were mainly friendly, except one young man who was particularly terse when I asked if he could make a call to an airport transfer company on my behalf, thinking it would be easier for him as I don't speak Czech. I got the impression that it might be the end of his shift and he might be getting cheesed off. Breakfast was adequate, nothing more. Small selection of cereals, some ham and salami and a few croissants etc. The hot selection was very sparse. Your only choice is omelette (ham, cheese or, you've guessed it, ham and cheese) or a few tiny sausages with mustard (don't ask for both - strictly omelette OR sausages). The omission - I've stayed in dozens of hotels in the last few years and I don't honestly remember staying in one that didn't provide in-room tea and coffee making facilities. I don't expect it's the most important thing for a some of customers but I like a cup of coffee when I wake up in the morning and sometimes in the evening when winding down for bed. This omission would stop me from staying again, otherwise the room was ok.

I was making a reservation on August 30th for August 30th. Somehow hotels.com changed the checkin date to August 29th, which was already over. When paying for reservation, the date was shown, and realized to be for the previous day. When contacting hotels.com they said that Certovka Hotel had charged me to stay the previous day. They made a reservation for a day that had already happened, and then immediately charged me, and did not offer a refund. I had choosen this hotel based on the good reviews here on Tripadvisor. I had faith that this was a good trustworthy hotel because of Tripadvisor, but they acted dishonestly in charging me for a staying at the hotel when the reservation was made for a day in the past.
